I Became the Best Forensic Doctor After My Betrayal

Chapter 245 - 245 Successful Rescue

245 Successful Rescue

Lian Jing’s actions were a great help to Team Three.

No one expected Dong Chang’s bungalow to have a basement. In other words, when the SWAT team was retrieving the video, they were on the level above the murderer.

The two cars arrived at the same time. Shen Yin was about to open the door and get out of the car when Lian Jing grabbed her wrist.

He stared at her anxious face and ordered firmly, “Stay in the car and don’t get out.”

Shen Yin said indignantly, “I’m a police officer!”

Lian Jing turned a deaf ear and looked at Zhong Xin expressionlessly. “Keep an eye on her. If she gets out of the car, you can forget about getting your year-end bonus.”

Zhong Xin immediately looked serious. He stared at Shen Yin intently and said pitifully, “Miss Shen, please don’t make things difficult for me. Otherwise, I’ll have worked for nothing this year.”

Shen Yin watched helplessly as Lian Jing got out of the car. She raised her hand and opened the car door. As expected, the chauffeur had already locked it in advance. She could only sit in the car and look at Zhong Xin helplessly.

Meng Heng was the first to get out of the SUV. When he saw Lian Jing coming over, his face instantly darkened, as if he was the murderer who had taken many innocent lives.

Wu Zheng patted his shoulder, indicating that he should not argue with Lian Jing. He loaded his gun and walked over. “Why don’t you stay here and be in charge of reinforcements? It might be dangerous in there. Don’t worry. Leave it to the police.”

Lian Jing glanced at him disdainfully. His thin lips parted slightly and he said calmly, “I just want to personally watch you arrest the murderer. I have no intention of interfering. Don’t misunderstand.”

Wu Zheng nodded and gently opened the door of the bungalow with Zou Sheng and Meng Heng. He softly walked down the stairs that led to the basement.

Lian Jing walked to the door, narrowed his eyes, and looked at the messy room. He sneered and pointed at a huge metal box against the wall. He lowered his voice and said, “Look there.”

Zou Sheng opened the box skeptically and looked at the ladder inside in shock. He could not help but give a thumbs up and say, “You’re good.”

Lian Jing ignored his flattery and raised his chin slightly, indicating that they should proceed down the ladder.

Wu Zheng gestured to the two of them, put away his pistol, and led the way into the basement.

It was pitch dark. The faint light from the entrance was only sufficient for him to vaguely identify the next rung of the ladder.

When he reached the bottom and touched the ground, Wu Zheng suddenly heard the sound of someone breathing weakly not far away. A chill ran down his spine and his hair stood on end.

His arm was stiff as he slowly touched the pistol at his waist. As he raised his hand, he could clearly hear the breathing getting more and more rapid.

He did not dare to make a sound. He raised his pistol and aimed into the darkness, threatening the hunters who were lying in wait for him in the dark.

Wu Zheng was almost certain that it was a man’s heavy breathing.

He could not see anything in the dark and his other senses also seemed dulled. He could not tell where the person was hiding and could only pretend to be calm as he remained in his spot. However, his back was completely drenched in cold sweat.

Fear of the unknown was the most terrifying. The two sides were in a deadlock when an agonized groan suddenly broke the silence. Then Wu Zheng heard an anxious female voice shouting in the darkness, “Help! Someone! Save me quickly!”

It was Shen Luo!

Zou Sheng and Meng Heng looked at each other. The two of them, who had not dared to act rashly, entered the basement.

Someone had gagged Shen Luo, but she was still doing her best to make whimpering sounds, acting as the only guide in the darkness. They could not discern her exact direction.

The basement was not very big. Wu Zheng and the others quickly found Dong Heng and Shen Luo behind a wooden box.

Zou Sheng turned on the torch on his cell phone and shone it on Dong Heng’s face. He smiled slyly and said, “I’ve finally found you!”

“Don’t arrest me, don’t arrest me! I’m innocent!” Dong Heng pushed Shen Luo away and squatted on the ground in a panic. He curled up. He did not look like the murderer in the video, who had committed such a serious crime.

Meng Heng coldly handcuffed him and pushed him up the stairs.

Wu Zheng squatted down and looked at Shen Luo, who was fully dressed. He frowned and asked worriedly, “Are you alright? Are you injured?”

Shen Luo shook her head vigorously. The tears on her face were mixed with dust, and her little face was covered in dirt.

She held Wu Zheng’s arm helplessly and begged with a sobbing tone, “Captain Wu, get me out. I’m so scared.”

“Can you still walk?” Wu Zheng probed.

Shen Luo still shook her head and sobbed, “My legs, my legs are shaking. I’m scared.”
