If the power of the ward nexus could only cover such a small range after it was activated, it was rather useless.

Certainly, it had something to do with the fact that Lu Ye’s cultivation had been suppressed. Moreover, he wasn’t skilful enough in crafting a ward nexus.

When his cultivation was restored and he became skilful enough, the power of the ward nexus could probably cover a wider range.

While he was in his thoughts, he heard a heart-wrenching scream from a distance. He furrowed his brows and looked in the direction where the sound came from.

The scream was heard again. Lu Ye initially thought someone had been attacked, but he soon realised things were different from what he had thought.

He rose to his feet and left the dugout before striding towards the source of the sound, which was coming from the entrance. That was where the pregnant women lived.

When Lu Ye arrived, the pregnant women inside the dugouts looked in that direction with worry written all over their faces.

Upon hearing Lu Ye’s footsteps, they quickly retracted their heads and hid in the corner.

Lu Ye arrived at a dugout on the left and saw a pale woman seated on the floor. Her entire face was covered in sweat, and her hair was a mess. She clenched the rock face so hard that her hand was soaked in blood. She covered her belly with the other hand. Blood was seen streaming from her lower body.

It was apparent that the woman was about to give birth. Although Lu Ye had already guessed it, he had no idea how to deal with the situation as it was his first time coming across such an incident.

Soon, he came to his senses and turned his head to shout, “Can anyone help her to deliver a child?”

It certainly wasn’t the first time babies were delivered there. Some women must have given birth to babies before, so they had the experience.

However, no one dared to say a word. To these women, ever since they were taken to this place, they had never left their dugouts or talked to anyone. Naturally, they wouldn’t dare to respond to Lu Ye.

Lu Ye frowned and asked again, “If anyone has the experience, please come here to help out.”

Still, no one responded to him. Lu Ye felt helpless. It wasn’t like he could just force someone to help. If he did that, the person might not be of any help, and the situation would turn into a mess. Gritting his teeth, he decided to enter the dugout.

Upon registering his presence, the woman, who was in excruciating pain, looked at him miserably. She seemed to be pleading with him with her eyes.

Lu Ye stepped forward. After giving it some thought, he placed a hand on her shoulder and said, “I don’t know what to do, so you have to help yourself. I’ll try to help you stay safe.”

As he spoke, he infused his Spiritual Power into the woman’s body. The woman was a cultivator, not a commoner. However, she was only a Fourth-Order Spirit Creek Realm Master.

Despite that, she still couldn’t bear the pain of giving birth to a child. In such a situation, her life was at risk with no one to help out.

Upon receiving his Spiritual Power, the woman was slightly relieved. Then, she took in a deep breath and let out a suppressed scream.

Presently, Lu Ye appeared to be in disbelief because he discovered something inconceivable. He activated his Spiritual Power to examine the woman’s body.

As time passed, the woman’s condition was getting worse. Despite several bursts of energy, she still couldn’t give birth to the child. Instead, she was getting more frail, and even her vitality was becoming weaker. She had no more energy left to give birth to the child.

It would consume a lot of a Human Mother’s heritage to nurture a Blood Race baby. Usually, a woman who had given birth to a Blood Race baby wouldn’t live a long life.

Most of the time, many women would lose their lives during pregnancy. When that happened, the Blood Race members would cut through their bellies and take out the foetuses.

Presently, Lu Ye could feel that the foetus in the woman’s womb was madly absorbing everything from the Mother. That was why she couldn’t successfully give birth to the child even though she was a Fourth-Order Spirit Creek Realm Master.

If it was a Human baby, it would’ve been born by now.

As Lu Ye felt the woman’s weakening vitality, he knew that the woman would lose her life if nothing was done to help her. Without hesitation, he used Phoenix Wings on the woman.

The moment the Glyph was built, the woman, who was crying in desperation, suddenly opened her eyes. She could feel the immense vitality entering her body through some unknown means. It was like seeing rainfall during a drought. She obtained a lot of energy out of nowhere. Even her heritage, which was drained during her pregnancy, was rapidly replenished.

Certainly, she knew where the source of the energy came from. She turned to look at Lu Ye, who was holding her arm. With a look of gratitude, she tried to get the baby out of her body again.

A moment later, as the woman screamed for the last time, the child was successfully born.

Lu Ye looked at the child and squinted his eyes.

No crying was heard as a Blood Race baby wasn’t born in the form of an infant.

The woman had given birth to a red, oval egg with veins around the surface. At first glance, it looked like an egg made with flesh. The bobbing veins on the surface made it seem like the egg was breathing.

According to the Blood Race, this was called a blood foetus, which had to be sent to a special place where it would be nurtured. Only then would the foetus break free from the egg and turn into a real Blood Race member. The place where blood foetuses were nurtured was called Blood River.

Blood River ran through the entire Blood Refinement Boundary with many branches in different locations. It could be said that Blood River was the foundation of the Blood Race in Blood Refinement Boundary. Without Blood River, the Blood Race wouldn’t have existed.

Lu Ye had acquired such information from the Blood Race member he had killed.

He looked at the blood foetus while recalling the information he had received. Much to his surprise, the woman suddenly got to her feet and unsheathed the Inviolable Saber from his waist before jabbing it into the blood foetus.

A crack appeared in the blood foetus the moment it was struck. However, since the Inviolable Saber wasn’t sharp, the egg wasn’t cut in half with just one move.

The sight of the woman pulling out the saber shocked Lu Ye. That was because the Blood Race was inviolable to the Humans in this world. Regardless of what the Blood Race did to them, they would only endure it in silence. Even if the Blood Race wanted to end their lives, they wouldn’t resist.

They were not cowardly or timid. It was just that this belief had been ingrained in their minds.

The Blood Race regarded Humans as their livestock, and even Humans had accepted their fate.

In such a world, it was inconceivable that a Human woman had the courage to unsheath a saber and kill a blood foetus. Therefore, even though Lu Ye could stop her, he didn’t do that.

He only watched as the woman cried and screamed while wielding the Inviolable Saber until the blood foetus was destroyed. In an instant, blood scattered everywhere.

It wasn’t until the blood foetus was completely ruined that the woman started bawling her eyes out.

Lu Ye retrieved the Inviolable Saber in silence and put it back into the sheath before leaving the dugout. Although he had never delivered a baby before, at least he knew that hot water was needed at this point. As such, he decided to get some hot water.

He didn’t need to do that himself. He summoned the two young men who had served Sun Miaozhu before and gave them an order. Soon, some hot water was presented to him.

Then, he went to the woman’s dugout again and told her to clean up herself before leaving the place.

Although the woman had lost a lot of heritage during pregnancy, it had been replenished with the help of Phoenix Wings. She only needed to get some rest to recover. Then, she cleaned up the mess with the hot water given to her.

Around two hours later, Lu Ye was pondering how to make a better ward nexus that contained the United as One Glyph when he heard some footsteps. The person soon stopped in her tracks in front of his dugout.

Lu Ye put down the ward nexus and lifted his head to see the beautiful woman standing there. She must’ve cleaned up herself, so she looked refreshed now. However, her clothes were still dirty as she didn’t have new ones. Although she had tidied up her hair, it was still rather unkempt.

She stood outside of the dugout while looking anxious. Met with Lu Ye’s gaze, she only looked away temporarily before glancing at him. With her lips pressed together, she entered the dugout and fell to her knees in silence before pressing her head against the ground several times.

She was there to express her gratitude. After all, she would’ve probably lost her life if Lu Ye wasn’t around.

Lu Ye activated his Spiritual Power and lifted his hand, after which the woman was involuntarily hoisted.

“What’s your name?” Lu Ye asked.

The woman replied, “Lan Qiyue.”

Her voice was rather hoarse. Although her energy had been replenished thanks to Lu Ye, she had screamed for a prolonged time, after all.

“Why did you kill the blood foetus?” Lu Ye asked. “You gave birth to it.”

Lan Qiyue, who had calmed down, suddenly became agitated again. “All Blood Race members are terrible. If he has the chance to grow up, he’ll harm even more people. That’s why I killed him.”

Lu Ye noticed that the woman called them the Blood Race, not the Holy Race. Moreover, she had no reverence for the Blood Race. She was only filled with endless resentment and hatred. This was something Lu Ye couldn’t see in the residents of Cangnan Village.

It seemed that some Humans were born to be rebellious even though Blood Refinement Boundary was ruled by the Blood Race.

“Do you think I shouldn’t have killed him?” Lan Qiyue glanced at him.

“No.” Lu Ye shook his head. “Even if you didn’t kill him, I wouldn’t have let him live.”

Although the child was innocent, he was still a Blood Race member. Just like what Lan Qiyue had said, if he had the chance to grow up, he would harm a lot of Humans. Hence, Lu Ye had no intention of letting the blood foetus live.

Lan Qiyue was surprised to hear such a response as she looked dazedly at Lu Ye. She had no idea who Lu Ye was, but when she saw the man returning to the Cave Mansion alongside Zhang Julai the day before, she thought Lu Ye was the other party’s Blood Slave.

Since Lu Ye had saved her life, she had no intention of lying to him. She would answer all his questions honestly.

Now, it seemed that the man before her eyes wasn’t a Blood Slave. If he was, he would never try to kill any Blood Race member.
