Chapter 421: Chapter 205: Gravity vs. Telekinesis! Did I Say You Could Go In?
"Heh..."
A scornful laugh echoed from nearby.
Min Yutang approached, leading the members of Kunlun.
"Only an organization like Xinhuo would count a rookie fresh out of training camp as one of its elites."
"What, has Xinhuo really run out of people?"
Lin Ye noticed that the Kunlun members behind Min Yutang not only outnumbered Xinhuo’s team by nearly two to one, but the aura emanating from each of them also felt far more solid and formidable.
They stood ramrod straight in a neat formation, like a well-drilled army, a stark contrast to the visibly more relaxed atmosphere on the Xinhuo side.
Min Yutang’s gaze shifted from Lin Ye to Qin Yue. With a smile that didn’t reach his eyes, he said:
"Mr. Qin, in the race every year, and an also-ran every year."
"Is the trophy room at your Ninghai Branch running out of space for all those participation awards?"
Qin Yue’s expression didn’t change as he immediately fired back with a sneer.
"Oh, you flatter us. If we’re competing in shamelessness, I’m afraid we must concede defeat."
"I wonder who it is that claims they’ll win the championship at the start of every preliminary, only to get knocked out in the top sixty-four. Mr. Min, is this ’the year of Kunlun’ again?"
Min Yutang’s expression changed in an instant.
They had stumbled at that same hurdle for three years in a row.
Qin Yue had hit him right where it hurt!
But in the end, he forced down his anger, squeezing out a cold snort through clenched teeth.
"A war of words is pointless."
Min Yutang glanced over the Xinhuo members, his tone gloating as if anticipating a good show. "You all might not even make it into the fissure!"
The words had barely left his mouth!
HUMMM—!
An even louder engine roar thundered from overhead!
Everyone looked up to see the belly armor of Kunlun’s enormous, jet-black transport ship slowly retracting, revealing rows of densely packed attachment points within.
Then, one after another, massive crates glinting with a cold metallic sheen were ejected with precision, dropping like a stream of payloads.
"All units! Suit up!"
Min Yutang commanded.
The Kunlun members sprang into action without a moment’s hesitation.
They skillfully opened the metal crates. Inside, sets of futuristic, silver-white Exoskeleton Combat Armor lay nestled in cushioning foam.
The sound of interlocking mechanisms filled the air.
The Kunlun members swiftly donned the Exoskeleton Armor. With a series of soft chimes from the system startup, blue energy lines on the armor’s surface lit up in succession.
A few of them even began testing the small thrusters on the back of the armor. Amidst whooshing jets of air, their bodies slowly levitated, moving freely through the sky.
In contrast, the Xinhuo members were still in their assorted casual wear and combat fatigues, utterly unprepared.
Watching Qin Yue’s expression turn grim, Min Yutang’s face twisted into a smirk, like a cat toying with a mouse.
Something stirred in Lin Ye’s mind.
This futuristic, silver-white Exoskeleton Armor... it felt familiar.
The T-3 Hover Exoskeleton Armor!
He remembered stripping two sets off of enemies in a virtual battlefield during the online tournament in Dongjiang City, testing their performance firsthand.
However, these ones seemed a little different.
Lin Ye observed them closely. While the overall silhouette of the armor worn by the Kunlun members was remarkably similar to the T-3, many of the details were entirely different.
The material of the armor looked more durable, a faint sheen flowed across its surface, and the connections at the joints were smoother and more intricate.
Most importantly, the somewhat bulky power unit on the back of the T-3 was completely gone. It seemed to have been seamlessly integrated into the armor’s interior, making the overall design look exceptionally streamlined and light.
’It must be an upgraded model.’
Qin Yue’s expression was grim.
’Kunlun really spared no expense this time!’
Lin Ye’s guess was correct. This was the newest S-2 model, a cutting-edge Exoskeleton Armor developed by the military by pouring massive resources into upgrading the T-3.
Its overall performance was a whole tier above that of the T-3!
Qin Yue’s original plan had been simple.
The moment the fissure opened, he would have Xinhuo’s aerospace transport move as close as possible, and all the members would immediately rush to secure their entry slots.
But he had never in his wildest dreams expected Kunlun to pull a move like this!
With the S-2 armor, as soon as the fissure opened, the Kunlun members wouldn’t need a transport ship at all. They could just launch directly from the ground and charge into the fissure at top speed!
And according to the rules jointly established by the military and the two great Martial Halls, only the first one hundred people to enter the fissure would be granted a spot in the preliminary qualifiers.
Qin Yue did a quick mental calculation.
Over fifty Kunlun members were already equipped with this new type of Combat Exoskeleton!
Once the fissure opened, they would absolutely be the first group to enter.
If all of them got in, there would be hardly any spots left for Xinhuo!
Once the 100-person limit was reached, officials would immediately step in and seal the fissure, even if it hadn’t closed on its own.
Not to mention that once inside the fissure, the powerful Exoskeleton Armor would also give them a significant combat boost.
With the scales tipped so heavily against them, Xinhuo was at an absolute disadvantage from the very beginning.
’A grave miscalculation!’
Qin Yue’s heart sank. He could practically feel the morale of the Xinhuo members around him plummet.
