How Could the Villainous Young Master Be a Saintess?

Vol 5. Chapter 41: Added Stakes

“Ga-ga!” Vinny tilted his head, his face blank, and strange sounds escaped his mouth from time to time.

He had originally thought he could brush it off with excuses such as “I prepared an extra one earlier,” or that Aesphyra would not pursue the question.

Who would have known that the two outfits he had bought had come from Aesphyra’s own hands, personally designed by her? She could tell at a glance that what he was wearing came from two different sets.

“Oh my~ Really, if I’d known they suited you this well, I would have asked Vinnia to help as the promotional model back then.” Aesphyra put on a regretful expression.

“D-don’t joke about that! I’m... And anyway, who said I did this for you?”

“Oh~? Then could it be that when Vinnia passed by my family’s clothing store, some clerk gave them to you? It looks like Vinnia’s charm surpasses even my imagination.” Aesphyra looked very surprised.

“Tch, so what?” Vinny planted both hands on his hips and simply decided to be a dead pig unafraid of boiling water. “This young lady is just popular. I’m so good-looking that even carriages burst their tires when they see me. So what if someone gives this young lady a gift while I’m walking down the street? Is that not allowed? Not convinced?”

“I’m convinced, I’m convinced. Miss Vinnia’s beauty is obvious to all. I never said I didn’t believe it.” Aesphyra smiled, looking as if she were trying her utmost to smooth down a cat’s fur.

“Hmph! As long as you’re convinced.” Vinny had thought this white-haired nut ball would continue exposing his Virtue, but unexpectedly, she directly followed along with his words. That gave Vinny the feeling of throwing a punch only to hit a ball of cotton, all his force being unloaded.

“All right, all right. This young lady already did what you said. Hurry up and get to business! This young lady didn’t come here for this.” Vinny did not want to continue on this topic. “It’s getting late too.”

“That’s true.” Aesphyra gazed at Vinny with a smile that was not quite a smile. “Not only does Vinnia have very good taste in clothing, you also understand clothing materials very well. You knew with just one glance that these two outfits used special quick-drying fabric, and that was why you chose to change into them?”

“Ah, yeah. What about it??” Vinny felt as if an arrow had struck his chest, but on the surface, he remained perfectly calm.

The implication of Aesphyra’s words was clearly, “Since you knew today was mainly for training, you still wore new clothes out. Aren’t you afraid of getting them dirty?”

That was what she meant, but as always, she expressed it tactfully, making it sound as if she were praising Vinny. This was also one of Aesphyra’s speaking traits.

But then again, these two outfits actually had quick-drying functions?

“Nothing. I’m simply admiring Vinnia’s eye.” Aesphyra smiled and did not expose him, then led him into the arena.

This person.

The blue-haired girl pouted and followed behind her.

There was no need to think to know that today’s arena was packed, or rather, that the arena had been packed all throughout this period. Fortunately, Carillian Academy had deep foundations, and there were many Training Fields inside the arena. Otherwise, there probably would not even be a place to stand.

Vinny did not know when Aesphyra had reserved a Training Field. This person had reserved one in a corner, remote and quiet. Aside from the entrance, the other sides were separated by soundproof walls.

“How did you reserve this Training Field?” Vinny looked around the area surrounding the Training Field as he asked.

With such a good location, there was no way he believed no one would fight over a good place where they {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} would not be disturbed.

“Huh? Has Vinnia still not noticed?” Aesphyra turned back and gazed at Vinny with a puzzled face.

“Noticed what?” Her reaction left Vinny at a loss.

“Why do all the passersby ignore this Training Field, as if it doesn’t exist in the same space they’re in?” Aesphyra raised an eyebrow.

“No, what do you mean by that? Can you stop saying things that sound like ghost stories? This young lady isn’t afraid of that!” Vinny pursed his lips. “You’re trying to mess with me again, aren’t you? Tch, you don’t think this young lady will fall for it every time, do you??”

“Huh? Vinnia has gotten smarter.” Aesphyra looked very surprised.

“You bastard! This young master has always been very smart, all right? Do I need you to tell me that??”

“Giggle. Vinnia, shouldn’t you change the way you refer to yourself?~”

“Change what? The soundproofing here is so good, and no one will hear us anyway. It doesn’t matter at all, right?” Vinny did not care. It could not be that eavesdropping characters would automatically refresh whenever the two of them were alone, right?

“That won’t do, Vinnia.” Aesphyra suddenly stopped and gazed at Vinny with a smile. “There are many people here, after all, and many eyes. What if someone hears you? Vinnia wouldn’t want to cause unnecessary trouble, would you?”

“I think it’s simply that you want to hear it, isn’t it?” Vinny clicked his tongue.

“You can’t say that. As the saying goes, a gentleman does not stand beneath a dangerous wall. Since some trouble can be avoided so simply, why not do it?”

“Tch.” Although Vinny did not answer, he had clearly been forced to tacitly accept it.

“All right. Since Vinnia has already paid the compensation, I can’t be stingy either.” Aesphyra lifted her heel, took off her brown loafers, and lightly stepped onto the Training Field’s soft mat with her black-stockinged arch slightly curved.

Tch! Compensation or whatever.

Vinny secretly stuck his tongue out at Aesphyra, then also took off his shoes and stepped onto the soft mat.

Only, well, Vinny’s method was very rough. He did not bend over at all, simply kicked his shoes off, and walked onto the mat.

“Vinnia, that won’t do. It’s very unladylike.”

“Ladylike, my nuthead. I’m not some lady in the first place.” Vinny said it irritably.

He was not even a girl.

This person had gotten addicted to teasing him, hadn’t she??

“But Margaret is very ladylike.” Aesphyra stood with her hands behind her back, tilting her head.

“Tch!” These words made Vinny feel somewhat unbalanced inside. To be precise, there was a slightly sour feeling, and he blurted out, “If she’s so ladylike, then go find her. Why are you looking for me?”

“And why did you suddenly bring her up??”

“Eh? You two only cooperated this morning, clearly intimate and seamless. You were so close it was like a pair of siblings, so I thought your relationship should be very good.”

“What a boring question.” Vinny crossed his arms.

“Speaking of which, hasn’t Vinny always emphasized to me that there isn’t any younger sister or older sister type of character in your family?” Aesphyra tapped her soft fingertip lightly against her lips.

“Yeah. What about it?” Vinny glanced sideways at Aesphyra. “You’re not going to ask whether Margaret is some relative of mine too, are you?”

This person really was paying attention to Margaret after all, wasn’t she??

Tch, tch.

Vinny lowered his head slightly, as if entering a ready-to-hiss state.

“Mhm. I’m just very curious. After all, the Facilis Family has produced ladies for generations.”

“Oh, I’m so sorry I’m not a lady. So you also think I’m not a descendant of the Facilis Family, do you?” Vinny pursed his lips, and his heart could not help growing a little heavy.

“Wrong. Quite the opposite.” Yet who would have known that Aesphyra would shake her finger, her words making a hundred-and-eighty-degree turn. “Precisely because of that, I’m certain Vinnia must be of Facilis blood~?”

Certain??

Vinny’s face showed hesitation.

What did she mean by that? Did she mean this person had seen his ladylike side?

Vinny subconsciously thought about whether he had ever displayed this so-called ladylike side in front of Aesphyra.

If he had to force an answer, then it seemed to be...

Vinny thought of something, and his lips trembled. The topic had jumped too far, plus Aesphyra had not mentioned this matter for a long time, and earlier, because Aesphyra had hugged him, his guard had relaxed. He had not been on much alert.

“What do you mean by that?” The moment he lifted his head, he saw Aesphyra’s eyes full of laughter. Vinny’s heart trembled, but he still braced himself and spoke.

“Nothing. Actually, I’ve been thinking all along that many of Vinnia’s habits can all be explained if I interpret them as ‘you’re actually a girl.’” Aesphyra teased.

“What are you saying again? What habits? What habits would this young master have? This young master is such a masculine person. What habits can you see??” Hearing this, Vinny immediately retorted. But after refuting it, he felt that something about what he had said seemed off.

“What habits can you see?” This sentence sounded as if he were saying he really did have habits in that area.

Vinny’s heart chilled slightly.

He realized he seemed to have fallen into another one of Aesphyra’s verbal traps.

The root cause was that he himself knew about the subtle, gradual influence Vanessa and the Blessing Angel’s blood had on him. When he became Vanessa, he was full from head to toe of “Dawn Saintess” habits.

Whether these habits had affected certain habits of his normal male body, Vinny himself did not know, nor would he deliberately pay attention to these trivial subconscious behaviors.

So regarding this point, Vinny was somewhat guilty. He truly did not know whether some of Vanessa’s habits had been retained, then spotted by Aesphyra. After all, subconscious actions were not things he would deliberately pay attention to in daily life.

“Whew.” Just as Vinny was pondering what difficult question this white-haired nut ball would throw at him next and how he should answer, Aesphyra lightly breathed out, then smiled and turned around to get the training equipment.

Huh?

What? In the end, this person actually wasn’t going to ask anything??

“Vinnia, don’t look like you’re facing a great enemy. I was only making an insignificant joke. Come over and get the equipment.”

This person!

“Who looks like they’re facing a great enemy? Don’t misuse words, all right?” Vinny suddenly had the feeling that all his actions were within Aesphyra’s expectations, as if she had guessed through his entire person.

“Catch, Vinnia.” As she spoke, Aesphyra tossed a training spear to Vinny.

Vinny caught the spear and looked toward Aesphyra, who casually drew out a training sword and walked toward him.

“All right, Vinnia. Try and see whether you can keep up with my attack rhythm.” Aesphyra weighed the training sword in her hand. It was too light, but this clearly would not affect her movements and attacks much.

“If I figure out your patterns, aren’t you afraid I’ll defeat you in the Chosen Tournament?” Vinny hesitated for a moment, then asked the question he had wanted to ask before.

“If Vinnia can do that, you’re welcome to try.” Hearing this, Aesphyra’s lips curved slightly. Her expression was practically saying, “Even if I let you figure out my patterns, I’m not worried I’ll lose to you at all.”

Tch!

“Then don’t cry when you lose!” Vinny snorted.

“Vinnia, do you know where your biggest problem lies?” Aesphyra gradually returned to a serious expression and spoke.

“Where? I think my biggest problem is that your realm crushes mine.” Vinny pursed his lips.

“Vinnia, your Spirit Soul has limited your upper ceiling.” Aesphyra ignored Vinny’s words. “The magic you can learn all has one common point: as long as your affinity with the ice element is high enough, you can learn it. Anything without that prerequisite, you can’t learn at all.”

“That means you have too few moves. People familiar with you can see through you too easily and guess what you’ll do next.” The implication was that Aesphyra had long since seen through many of Vinny’s moves.

“So I don’t mind Vinnia figuring out my patterns.”

Because Vinny simply could not possibly figure out her patterns.

She knew far too much magic and far too many tactics.

“Vinnia, you need a method to make your magic not so easy for others to see through.” Aesphyra gave her suggestion. “If you had sufficiently variable magic, that would be much better. Or...”

Aesphyra paused, and her eyes changed slightly as she looked toward Vinny. “You could alter your Spirit Soul.”

“You make that sound easy. Which of those is something I can do?” Vinny rolled his eyes at Aesphyra. “All right, stop wasting words. Hurry up and attack!”

“Don’t be so anxious, Vinnia. Simply practicing seems to have no fun in it at all.” Aesphyra rested one hand on the sword.

“Oh? Then what do you want to do?”

“What I mean is, why don’t we add some stakes?” Aesphyra hooked her lips.

“Stakes?”

“How about this, Vinnia. Until your closed-door training begins, if you can hit me once, it counts as your win. How about that~?” Aesphyra proposed. “Conversely, it counts as your loss.”

“You’re looking down on me way too much, aren’t you? Say it. What stakes?”

“If I win, Vinnia has to satisfy one request of mine. How about that~?” Aesphyra threw Vinny a seductive wink.

“Aow? What request?” Vinny was puzzled.

“Of course I can’t reveal that now. Mhm, it could be something as simple as having Vinnia sing a song, or it could be Vinnia letting me step on you a little. It depends~”
