Chapter 27: A Single Thought
Chapter 27: Chapter 27: A Single Thought
Fang Chen circulated his True Qi to wrap around the nebula-like cluster of black particles, attempting to refine it.
The process went unexpectedly smoothly. These particles seemed to be an extremely pure, ownerless special energy. With almost no resistance, they rapidly dissolved and assimilated under the circulation of his True Qi, ultimately integrating completely into his Dantian.
The moment the refining was complete, Fang Chen felt refreshed; his mind became exceptionally clear and lucid. Not only that, but he felt that his Five Senses and perception had become even sharper!
He casually but forcefully hurled the steel sword in his hand at a large tree a hundred meters away!
"SWOOSH!"
The steel sword transformed into a streak of cold light, precisely nailing itself into the trunk. He could actually clearly capture every minuscule, high-frequency vibration of the blade caused by air resistance during its flight, and could even clearly see the trajectory of the hilt spinning in the air!
This dynamic vision and Perception Power far exceeded his previous level!
"Good stuff!" A sharp glint flashed in Fang Chen’s eyes. Without further hesitation, he immediately sprang into action.
He shattered the Ghost Shadows and Pursuing Beasts frozen by the Time Stop one by one, turning them into black particles, and then unhesitatingly absorbed and refined them! As he refined more and more black particles, he felt his Spiritual Power being continuously washed and strengthened, and his perception range continued to expand.
Later on, he could even vaguely perceive the Ghost Shadows lurking inside the walls and deep underground that had not yet fully materialized!
"Hiding is useless!"
He found, shattered, and absorbed these hidden energy packs one by one. In the end, throughout the completely still school, aside from the human students and teachers, only the most massive tentacle monster remained. It still maintained the ferocious posture of piercing its tentacle into an instructor’s chest.
Fang Chen arrived in front of it, circulated his entire body’s True Qi, and fiercely swung his steel sword at a thick tentacle!
"CLANG!"
A dull sound of clashing metal rang out, sending sparks flying! The steel sword was violently deflected, leaving only a white mark on the tentacle’s tough skin.
"As expected, the toughness of this thing is on a different level!"
He carefully observed the behemoth. He quickly discovered that the tentacle monster was actually covered in numerous obvious wounds. In particular, a few mangled areas were clearly the results of the desperate fight put up by those High Martial Realm instructors. The deepest and most fatal wound was located above its giant, tooth-filled maw, almost cleaving off half of its head and exposing the bizarre tissue inside.
This was the spot!
Fang Chen quickly climbed up a stationary tentacle and arrived before the massive wound. He gripped the hilt tightly with both hands and poured all of his body’s True Qi into the blade!
Lingxi Swordsmanship—Guanhong!
The tip of the sword pierced precisely into the huge wound, and he slashed viciously inward along the trajectory of the gash!
"RIP!"
No blood flowed out; it was more like tearing open a giant leather sack filled with darkness! The tentacle monster’s colossal body began to undulate and twist violently. Then, like a popped bubble, it rapidly collapsed and disintegrated starting from the wound, turning into a black torrent that was tens of times more majestic and dense than any Ghost Shadow or Pursuing Beast before it!
Fang Chen landed from midair, his entire body already surrounded by this vast, ocean-like pure black energy. He didn’t hesitate at all. He immediately sat cross-legged and circulated his Cultivation Technique with all his might, beginning to refine this energy like a giant whale sucking in water.
After a complete Circulation was finished, Fang Chen slowly opened his eyes, having thoroughly refined the majestic black energy originating from the tentacle monster.
The feeling afterward was extremely unique. He clearly perceived that a brand-new energy had appeared within his body, one that could be mobilized by his intent. This energy wasn’t stored in his Dantian and Qi Sea, but rather coiled deep within his mind, or rather, the core region of his consciousness.
"This is... the Sea of Consciousness?!"
This discovery filled Fang Chen with wild joy! The Sea of Consciousness was a concept that ordinary people and common Martial Artists simply couldn’t perceive or even understand. It was normally a Spiritual Domain that only Mages could open and utilize!
He immediately activated the Spirit Core within his body and called up his status panel. Sure enough, the data had changed:
[Qi and Blood Value: 91/91]
[Physical Strength Value: 76/76]
[True Qi Value: 37/37]
[Mana Value: 19/19]
[Spiritual Power: 27]
[???: ?]
[Physical Attack Power: 13]
[Physical Defense: 9]
[Magic Attack Power: 23]
[Magic Defense: 13]
The attributes related to Qi and Blood, physical strength, and physical attack/defense remained unchanged, but all attributes related to spirit and energy had significantly increased! The substantial growth in his Mana Value and Spiritual Power meant that his current mental strength was likely no less than that of some dedicated Mage apprentices!
But what caught Fang Chen’s attention the most was the newly appeared entry that displayed [???: ?].
"What is this? Even the Spirit Core can’t identify it?"
After a brief moment of thought, he understood the crux of the matter. The Spirit Core was fundamentally an auxiliary tool loaded with existing cognitive data. And these dream monsters were originally created by Ji Kai using his imagination to distort the rules of reality. They didn’t belong to the known systems of the real world, so they naturally hadn’t been entered into the database. This unidentifiable power was precisely the root cause of why he felt so different right now!
Fang Chen had a feeling that his imagination seemed capable of affecting objects in reality!
"Could it be that I can also create creatures out of thin air like Ji Kai?"
He focused his intent, trying to envision a mouse in the air. He failed. It seemed that this kind of creation out of nothing could perhaps only be achieved within the specific Dream Space constructed by Ji Kai himself, or its requirements for him were exceedingly high.
Undiscouraged, he picked up a small, dry twig from the ground. Concentrating Spirit and Calming Qi, Fang Chen focused all of his mental energy on the twig. He had a strong feeling that as long as his imagination was powerful enough and the scene he envisioned was detailed and realistic enough, it was possible to make it a reality!
Focusing his intent, he began to visualize in exquisite detail the sight of the twig snapping in the middle, the sound it should make, and the trajectory of the broken pieces flying off... He imagined everything very thoroughly and applied it to this twig.
SNAP.
An extremely faint, crisp sound rang out. The twig locked in his gaze snapped right down the middle, just as he had "imagined," breaking into two pieces and falling to the ground!
Fang Chen’s heart was instantly filled with immense joy! He understood! This was completely different from a Mage mobilizing external elemental energy to cause destruction. It was purely relying on the act of his own "imagination" to directly interfere with the stable state of physical matter!
He realized, "In other words, I ’thought’ this twig into breaking!"
"Then can I do the reverse and ’think’ it back to life?"
He immediately tried, concentrating all of his mental energy, trying hard to envision the two halves of the twig restoring to their original state and seamlessly reconnecting. However, after toiling for quite a while and expending a significant amount of Spiritual Power, the two pieces of the twig remained unchanged.
"It seems that the power of this ’imagination’ is still too weak, or my own Spiritual Power isn’t strong enough yet to support a heaven-defying operation like restoration." Fang Chen wasn’t disappointed. "I figure once this power grows stronger, or my Spiritual Power increases again, I might just be able to pull it off! It’s just that ’imagination’ doesn’t sound very impressive. I need to give it a proper name."
He pondered, "This power originates from those dream monsters, and those monsters were created by a single thought from Ji Kai. A thought... Then I’ll call it Telekinesis!"
