Chapter 718 - 737: Kind of Cute
Chapter 718: Chapter 737: Kind of Cute
She suddenly felt that beneath this young lady’s rather noble and glamorous exterior, she was just wrapped in layer after layer of cuteness.
"Oh, right," Mei Lin said, turning to Jiang Qiuqiu. "I heard you’re double-majoring now, is that right?"
"Yep."
"..."
"Isn’t it tiring?" Mei Lin didn’t get it.
"Didn’t you already ask me about this?" Mei Lin had checked in with Jiang Qiuqiu right after the school’s announcement. "It’s a little tiring, but it’s manageable. And it makes me happy."
"That was right after the announcement came out. You wouldn’t have admitted it even if you were tired." It was like how some people in her social circle, after stubbornly making a mistake, would refuse to admit it right away.
"But," she added, "you look like you’re doing pretty well."
"You’ve changed a lot recently, too."
"Me?" Mei Lin asked, pointing to herself in curiosity. "How have I changed?" ’Aside from my love life,’ she thought, ’nothing about me has changed at all.’
The meat on the table was gone. Knowing Mei Lin was a fan, Jiang Jiang had already gone over to the grill to put on some other food. A few of the roommates went with him, leaving just her and Mei Lin sitting and chatting.
"You’re much more natural when you talk to people now."
"?"
She hadn’t noticed at all.
But she knew Jiang Qiuqiu wouldn’t say it for no reason. "Well, maybe it’s because I’ve been interacting more with my classmates in the finance department."
"That’s probably it," Jiang Qiuqiu said with a blink. "Of course, it could also be that our dear socialite has found a boyfriend and is getting a lot more practice talking with him."
"..."
"Are you making fun of me?" Mei Lin huffed.
"Haha, let’s go grill some more. If you want something to eat, come grill it yourself."
After that, they started putting on more vegetables. The leafy greens needed to be brushed with oil for grilling and they cooked quickly. Both Jiang Qiuqiu and Jiang Jiang were pros, their hands moving with practiced speed. It wasn’t long before a pile of skewers was stacked up on the table.
But everyone was still gathered around the grill; no one went over to the table.
Jiang Qiuqiu urged them, "Go on, eat! It’ll get cold if you don’t. You don’t have to wait for me, I’ll eat in a bit."
"Go on, go on. I wanted to treat you all to a meal anyway."
Alright, it was hard to refuse such a kind offer. Besides, the few among them who were all thumbs weren’t great at grilling anyway, so everyone sat down.
The timing was perfect. As she focused on grilling, Jiang Qiuqiu habitually opened her Sea of Spirit Power and activated her Healing Spiritual Power.
Beside her, Jiang Jiang suddenly looked up at her.
With dedicated hands on the grill, the cooking went quickly. Once there were plenty of vegetable skewers, Jiang Qiuqiu put on some chicken wings and other slow-cooking food, then called Jiang Jiang to join her at the table to eat.
He naturally sat down next to Mei Lin.
As soon as he sat down, the messy pile of used skewers next to Mei Lin was quickly cleaned up. They all ate and chatted, their conversation jumping from one topic to the next, as is common with young people.
The conversation veered from Mei Lin asking the others what it felt like for a girl to be in the Mecha program, to Meng Chun and her friends asking Mei Lin if being a socialite was as amazing as it seemed.
The Mecha Squad: "There’s nothing special about it. It’s just... you know."
"We don’t think it’s any big deal."
Mei Lin: "Being a socialite... is just like that, I guess. I don’t feel anything special about it either... I just find the people I see at balls to be pretty annoying sometimes."
"So what kind of people are usually there?"
"I’m not sure, I’ve forgotten. Maybe..." She rattled off a few girls’ names. Some of them were active on the Star Network, so a few of the others would let out an "Oh!" of dawning recognition.
Liu Tingting, who was also from that circle, would add, "That’s Earl Nash’s daughter, right?"
"I think so."
’Whose daughter was she, exactly... Ugh, I can’t really remember.’
If she were asked to recall which designer’s gown each of those people was wearing, however, she could probably remember that quite clearly.
