Chapter 701 - 720: Beautiful Sister
Chapter 701: Chapter 720: Beautiful Sister
On Saturday, Jiang Qiuqiu had requested time off from the Mecha Department in advance because Dean Zhu had something planned for her.
It was still early on a bright and sunny morning when the dean took Jiang Qiuqiu to the outer city in his small hovercar.
As the skyscrapers receded behind them, Jiang Qiuqiu grew curious. "Where are we going?"
"You’ll find out soon enough," he said mysteriously.
Jiang Qiuqiu let out a playful "Ooh." "Trying to build suspense, are we, Dean?"
"This is a surprise test. If I told you ahead of time, it wouldn’t be a surprise."
"You know," the dean said, a nostalgic look in his eyes, "every Healer from our department has been to this place. It was only after my own teacher brought me here that I finally understood my future path."
That was when the seed of an idea was planted in his heart, when he first understood why he wanted to become a Spirit Healing Master.
He spoke with deep feeling as the hovercar continued on its outward journey.
Jiang Qiuqiu looked down for a moment. "Dean, you’re not taking me to a hospital, are you?"
Zhu Tiansheng...
He paused.
"Dean, don’t tell me I guessed right?"
"No! It’s not a hospital!" After saying that, Dean Zhu deflated like a pricked balloon and fell silent, refusing to speak to Jiang Qiuqiu again.
A long while later, the hovercar landed.
Jiang Qiuqiu had guessed half-right.
-
"Dean Zhu, this way, please." The person in charge here knew the dean well.
"Why are you here so early this year?" The person in charge glanced at Jiang Qiuqiu. "Did you make a special trip just to bring one person over?"
"More or less." Old Zhu smiled. It was a different smile from the one he wore at the academy; here, he seemed to gain a new layer of warmth. "But the person I brought today is someone the children will definitely love."
"I would imagine so." The middle-aged woman smiled warmly. "Everyone loves a pretty older sister."
"Shall I take this young lady over, then?"
"Go on, go on!"
Dean Zhu himself remained where he was.
The word "children" echoed in Jiang Qiuqiu’s mind. ’Children? Is this an orphanage?’
"And what should I call you, dear?"
"Huh?" Jiang Qiuqiu looked up. "Me? You can just call me Qiuqiu."
"Qiuqiu. Your name sounds as gentle and lovely as you are. Dean Zhu brought you here today to complete a task."
"A task?"
"That’s right." She winked. They walked forward another few dozen meters, and soon, a room enclosed by a transparent glass wall came into Jiang Qiuqiu’s view.
Inside the transparent room, many small children were lying quietly in their beds.
The beds were all of a uniform design, but the children in them were all different. There were boys and girls, some bigger, some smaller. Some hid under their blankets, revealing only their tiny feet, while others liked to have the fuzzy tops of their heads showing.
Still others were sprawled halfway over their blankets, looking like restless sleepers at a glance.
The children in the room were adorable, but—
’It’s morning, ten o’clock already. Why are so many of them still in bed?’
Before her question was answered, the person in charge walked over to the glass wall and pressed a buzzer on its surface. The children inside instantly came alive, throwing back their covers and twisting their heads to look over.
And so, this was the scene that suddenly greeted Jiang Qiuqiu’s eyes.
Every face, plump with baby fat, with round eyes and a fuzzy head of hair, turned to look over in unison, their expressions adorably blank and dazed.
"..."
The cuteness was off the charts.
"Matron!"
"Pretty sister!"
Even more adorable voices rang out.
