Chapter 682: Chapter 701: Michelle’s Predicament
By the time she finished discussing everything with Qian Xingxing, it was already late.
The sky was nearly dark by the time Jiang Qiuqiu got back to her dorm room.
Her roommates were all worried about her. If they hadn’t seen the livestream and guessed that Qiuqiu was likely dealing with the matter of selling food in her online group, they would have been calling her by now.
"Qiuqiu, was your discussion really that long?" Liu Tingting asked, sitting down with her. "Isn’t it a simple problem? Why not just start another sales group?"
"It’s not that simple." Jiang Qiuqiu shook her head. "I want to set things up properly, so it took a little longer. Thanks for worrying about me."
"Don’t be silly! It was nothing."
The two chatted for a bit, and then, quite unexpectedly, Michelle, who was usually quiet, chimed in.
"Qiuqiu, all those people are using the methods you taught to make money, selling in your group, and taking your customers... are you really not angry?" Realizing how her question might have sounded, she paused for a moment before adding, "I don’t mean anything by it. I just want to know your perspective."
Her gaze was intent, her dark eyes reflecting only Jiang Qiuqiu’s image.
’She seems genuinely curious.’
This wasn’t the first time Jiang Qiuqiu had to answer this question. "I’m not angry. Really, I’m not."
"To be honest, making food to sell isn’t as simple as it looks."
"You have to buy the ingredients, prep them, cook everything, and have plenty of containers ready. You have to be careful when you cook, too. Food is a delicate thing—the slightest mistake can ruin the flavor."
"And no one will buy something that doesn’t taste good."
"Once the food is made, you have to sell it. If it doesn’t sell, you’re stuck with it. If it does sell, you have to ship it. Even though delivery bots are convenient, shipping large quantities to different places is a real challenge."
She walked them through the process of setting up a shop. "Most of the people who open shops on the thread are doing it because they need Star Coins. I already have enough."
"Besides, this is something that makes everyone happy. Why would I be angry about that?"
"On the contrary, I feel honored. I shared these tutorials online because I hoped people would get interested, learn, and help spread the love of good food. And it seems like a lot of people are."
"Anyway, why the sudden question, Michelle?"
Michelle hesitated. She looked at Jiang Qiuqiu, realizing her roommate was even more generous than she had imagined. She suddenly found her courage. "Um... if you’re not angry about it, could my family sell food, too?"
It was clearly an embarrassing question for her to ask. After mustering the courage to get the words out, the young woman’s face flushed with shame.
Jiang Qiuqiu paused, glancing at her.
The other three in the dorm all knew that Michelle’s family wasn’t well-off.
After all, she only ever consumed the free Nutrient Liquid provided by the academy and, while her clothes were new, she only had two outfits that she wore in rotation.
There was no way Jiang Qiuqiu would stop her from trying to sell things.
"Of course you can."
"Thank you!" She suddenly shot to her feet and bowed to Jiang Qiuqiu. "Qiuqiu, thank you so, so much!"
"Please, don’t do that!" Jiang Qiuqiu stood up as well. "We’re roommates. Besides, I haven’t really helped you with anything yet."
"By the way, are your family members experienced cooks?" Jiang Qiuqiu offered a suggestion. "If they are, they could start by making meat dishes."
"Cooking meat is more difficult, so not many people in the group are selling it."
