Chapter 282: Nuzzling Him
Chapter 282: Chapter 282: Nuzzling Him
Su Zhaozhao just hoped that Xu Jiaming could find his own true love as well.
"Come on, Zhaozhao, let’s have a drink!" Xu Jiaxin said, pouring Su Zhaozhao a glass.
Seeing this, Su Zhaozhao waved her hands. "No, no, I can’t drink."
She used to enjoy a few drinks, but ever since coming to this world and discovering how easily she got drunk, Su Zhaozhao hadn’t dared to touch alcohol.
She thought about the first time she got drunk while out. Thankfully, even though Xie Huaizheng wasn’t the male lead, he was a good person.
’If I had run into someone with bad intentions, I would have been done for.’ Su Zhaozhao thought.
That’s why Su Zhaozhao now only had a little to drink at home. When she was out, especially when Xie Huaizheng wasn’t with her, she always avoided drinking.
She had told Xie Huaizheng she was meeting Xu Jiaxin for dinner today, and he had even reminded her not to drink.
It seemed Xie Huaizheng was practically a prophet; he must have known this would happen.
So, Su Zhaozhao followed Xie Huaizheng’s advice and firmly refused Xu Jiaxin’s invitation to drink.
"What are you afraid of, Zhaozhao? Scared of getting drunk? Don’t worry, I can hold my liquor. If you get drunk, I’ll take you home! Besides, we’re just having a couple of sips. How could you possibly get drunk?"
As Xu Jiaxin spoke, she poured Su Zhaozhao a glass.
When Su Zhaozhao smelled the drink in front of her, her eyes instantly lit up.
Suddenly, the words of refusal she had prepared seemed impossible to say.
Because the drink before her smelled absolutely divine.
It had the fragrance of osmanthus flowers—it must be osmanthus wine.
What should she do? The rich aroma, a fragrant blend of flowers and alcohol, was so tempting it stirred the craving deep within her.
There was no helping it. The scent made Su Zhaozhao desperately want to have a taste.
To make matters worse, Xu Jiaxin was eagerly encouraging her from the side. "Go on, Zhaozhao, drink up! I got this from the owner. It’s his own home brew, so it should be fine. Just do it for my sake. Even a small sip is fine."
"You’re right. A tiny bit shouldn’t get me drunk."
Su Zhaozhao looked at the delicate little cup in front of her. ’Based on my previous tolerance,’ she thought, ’half a cup at most should be fine.’
Half a cup wouldn’t be enough to get her drunk.
"That’s more like it! Come on, let’s toast! Zhaozhao, thank you for taking care of me all this time. And here’s to our friendship!"
The cups clinked together with a crisp sound.
Su Zhaozhao took a small sip, and her eyes narrowed in comfort.
’It’s actually really good!’
She hadn’t planned on drinking much, but she couldn’t resist and downed the whole cup.
The alcohol content wasn’t too high, but it wasn’t low either. A fiery sensation warmed her stomach. It felt so comfortable!
Especially now that the weather was getting colder, and the nights were even more so.
Seeing Su Zhaozhao finish her cup, Xu Jiaxin immediately poured her another.
Su Zhaozhao, however, quickly waved her hand in refusal. "No, no, one cup is enough for me."
She could still stay sober for now, but if Xu Jiaxin kept pushing her to drink, Su Zhaozhao felt there was no way she could remain clear-headed.
’It’ll be big trouble if Xie Huaizheng finds out later.’
"Hey, Zhaozhao, I already told you, if you get drunk, I’ll take you home. This place isn’t far from your house anyway, right?"
Xu Jiaxin handed the cup to Su Zhaozhao. "Come on! Keep going! If you’re really worried, just have your man come pick you up."
But the next moment, the cup she was handing to Su Zhaozhao was intercepted by another hand.
It was a well-defined, slender hand that clearly possessed a lot of strength.
Xu Jiaxin froze.
Lifting her gaze, she saw Xie Huaizheng’s frosty face. The man’s dark eyes were filled with a chilling expression as he looked down on her, as if he could crush her in the very next second.
Xu Jiaxin shuddered in fright.
A chill ran down her spine. The laughter and joking from before vanished, and her expression turned serious.
"Camp Commander Xie... what are you doing here?"
’Wait, how did Xie Huaizheng know they were eating here?’
Su Zhaozhao was also a little surprised to see Xie Huaizheng. She smiled at him. "Huai Zheng, you’re here! Have you eaten?"
Xie Huaizheng was still in his black combat uniform. His tall, sturdy frame stood as imposing as a mountain in the night.
But judging from his expression, it was probably more like an ice mountain.
"I’ve eaten." Xie Huaizheng knew Su Zhaozhao was eating out with Xu Jiaxin tonight, so he had just grabbed a quick bite at the base cafeteria.
After eating, he still felt worried about Su Zhaozhao, so he came to find her.
When Su Zhaozhao had told him about it, she hadn’t specified where they were meeting, only that it was nearby. So, Xie Huaizheng had been searching for a while.
And then he saw Su Zhaozhao and Xu Jiaxin drinking.
By the time he walked up to them, Su Zhaozhao had already finished one cup.
When he saw Xu Jiaxin about to hand Su Zhaozhao a second one, Xie Huaizheng immediately blocked her.
His gaze toward Su Zhaozhao also held a hint of a chill.
But Su Zhaozhao wasn’t as afraid of him as Xu Jiaxin was. Having been with Xie Huaizheng for a long time, she knew he was the cold-on-the-outside, warm-on-the-inside type.
She took Xie Huaizheng’s hand, buried her cheek in his dry palm, and nuzzled it.
"I know I promised you, so I only had one small cup just now. You know my alcohol tolerance is terrible, but one small cup won’t get me drunk. I was good, right?"
Su Zhaozhao said this while continuing to nuzzle his palm.
She was like a kitten acting cute for its owner.
Xu Jiaxin found it hard to watch Su Zhaozhao’s dependence on Xie Huaizheng.
’Is Zhaozhao really not drunk?’
’She’s never like this normally!’ Xu Jiaxin suddenly understood why Su Zhaozhao hadn’t wanted to drink a single cup earlier.
’Turns out, she really can’t drink at all!’
Xu Jiaxin had downed three cups in one go and was still perfectly sober. Su Zhaozhao, on the other hand...
Ever since Xie Huaizheng appeared, Su Zhaozhao’s gaze had been glued to him.
She was even holding his hand.
And what about Xie Huaizheng?
His originally icy expression crumbled in an instant under Su Zhaozhao’s affectionate assault.
He frowned at Su Zhaozhao and said, "You... You knew you couldn’t drink, yet you still did."
Although his words carried a hint of blame, Xu Jiaxin could hear that Xie Huaizheng’s tone was incredibly gentle.
"I can’t drink? I used to be a pretty good drinker, I just can’t anymore."
Su Zhaozhao rubbed her cheeks and pulled Xie Huaizheng down to sit beside her. "You should have some too! The roasted lamb here is so delicious!"
Xie Huaizheng sat down next to Su Zhaozhao, keeping them company.
Under Xie Huaizheng’s watchful gaze, Xu Jiaxin became withdrawn.
Instead, Xie Huaizheng smiled at her and said, "Don’t be so reserved. Eat up. The lamb skewers here are much more authentic than the ones you get in the city."
"Okay... okay," Xu Jiaxin forced herself to agree.
