Chapter 594 - 563: But He’s My Master... That’ll Cost Extra
Chapter 594: Chapter 563: But He’s My Master... That’ll Cost Extra
Li Wei wasn’t surprised by Wind Chaser’s words.
He hadn’t expected the Elemental Tower to agree to his demands so easily.
He had been planning to reveal a bit of his true power to intimidate the Elemental Tower’s leadership.
To his surprise, the Elemental Tower had already started to give some ground.
Li Wei looked at him and asked, "What are the conditions?"
Wind Chaser said, "Kill the Legendary Witch Lich."
Li Wei met his gaze for a moment, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Are you serious?" he asked.
"This is the Tower Master’s will," Wind Chaser said.
"If you want to join the Elemental Tower, then go kill the Legendary Witch Lich who is currently plaguing the world. Prove you have what it takes."
Li Wei let out a laugh. "You want me to do something that all of you in the Elemental Tower combined can’t accomplish? And you want me to do it alone?"
"Are you all just that incompetent? Or do you take me for a fool?"
’Of course, I *could* do it.’
’But who was the Legendary Witch Lich?’
’He was the father of his soul partner.’
’He was his good master.’
’He was his good comrade-in-arms.’
’They’d have... to pay extra for that!’
Li Wei sneered. "If I actually pull that off, then the position of Tower Master should be mine."
"Insolence! How dare you slander the Tower Master!"
"Delusional! How dare you covet the Tower Master’s position! I think you’re just here to make trouble for the Elemental Tower. Wind Chaser, let’s take him down together."
The two Legendary Mages behind Wind Chaser rebuked him loudly.
Wind Chaser, however, remained silent.
After a moment, Wind Chaser looked at Li Wei and said, "If you cannot kill the Legendary Witch Lich, then destroying the Death Sky Curtain he created will also be considered proof that you are qualified to become a councilor of the Elemental Tower."
Li Wei’s heart stirred. ’Destroy the Death Sky Curtain.’
’That might actually be feasible.’
’I could just discuss it with the Legendary Witch Lich and have him retract the Death Sky Curtain for a bit. Putting on a show for the Elemental Tower should be no problem.’
’Actually destroying the Death Sky Curtain would be no different than killing all the Undead.’
’Faking it, however, would be much easier to accomplish.’
Li Wei sneered, "That condition is hardly different from killing the Legendary Witch Lich."
"Everyone knows the Death Sky Curtain is a cataclysm caused by the convergence of countless Undead."
"Destroying the Death Sky Curtain means killing every last one of the Undead. You’re asking me to single-handedly do something that everyone in the Elemental Tower put together can’t accomplish?"
"It’s just ridiculous."
"If you don’t want me to join the Elemental Tower, just say so. There’s no need to beat around the bush."
"If I could actually destroy the Death Sky Curtain, I should at least be made a Vice Tower Master."
Wind Chaser looked at Li Wei and said, "You’re unwilling to do one, and you’re unwilling to do the other. The Elemental Tower cannot force you."
"In that case, you might as well leave the Elemental Tower now. We’ll just pretend you were never here."
"I can’t completely destroy the Death Sky Curtain," Li Wei said.
"But I might be able to make the Death Sky Curtain disappear for a period of time."
At these words, Wind Chaser’s interest was suddenly piqued.
It wasn’t just him; the Tower Master behind the scenes was also intrigued.
The Elemental Tower had numerous Legendary Mages, each one capable of casting a Forbidden Curse.
Yet they were still helpless against the Undead Army.
The biggest reason was the Death Sky Curtain.
The Death Sky Curtain drastically weakened the power of Forbidden Curses.
At the same time, it would resurrect the Undead within its range.
With this combination of factors...
Even Forbidden Curses capable of shattering heaven and earth couldn’t unleash their true power against the Undead Army.
The Elemental Tower could only look on in helpless despair.
The ongoing Undead Calamity was a terrible situation for the Elemental Tower.
The longer the Undead Calamity persisted, the greater the Elemental Tower’s losses became.
It wasn’t just a matter of the energy needed to maintain the Floating Island.
There was also the matter of resources from all other areas.
The Elemental Tower was originally responsible for guarding the Undead of the Ancient Battlefield, but now the Undead were out of control, spreading everywhere.
The Empire was already pressuring the Elemental Tower through the Mage Association.
They were demanding that the Elemental Tower come up with a solution as quickly as possible.
Because the Elemental Tower was currently in a perilous state...
...the Imperial nobility had grown less willing to send their scions to the Elemental Tower for advanced studies.
This cost the Elemental Tower a significant source of revenue.
The pressure from all sides made the Elemental Tower’s leadership desperate to create an opening.
At the very least, they needed to show the various factions of the Empire a glimmer of hope.
The hope that the Elemental Tower was capable of resolving the Undead Calamity.
Confronting the Undead Calamity wasn’t the Elemental Tower’s responsibility alone.
But in this regard, the Elemental Tower had always borne the brunt of it.
They couldn’t escape their responsibility.
Li Wei’s words gave the Elemental Tower’s leadership hope of finding that breakthrough.
If he could really make the Death Sky Curtain disappear for a period of time...
...the Elemental Tower could launch a coordinated assault of Forbidden Curses.
They could destroy the majority of the Undead Army and reverse the situation.
The possibility Li Wei had inadvertently proposed sent the Elemental Tower’s leadership into deep thought.
The Master of Truth Hall was already just outside the door to the Seventh Floor.
He had heard the conversation between Li Wei and Wind Chaser.
Seeing that Li Wei was in no immediate danger, he had yet to intervene.
Now, upon hearing that Li Wei had a way to eliminate the Death Sky Curtain...
...he eagerly entered the Elemental Tower’s leadership conference room.
"This is a rare opportunity. If he can really do it, we can reverse the current situation."
"He’s lying. The only way to make the Death Sky Curtain disappear is to kill the Legendary Witch Lich or to kill all the Undead."
Someone challenged Li Wei’s claim.
The Death Sky Curtain was indeed formed from the condensed aura of death from countless Undead gathered together.
However, without the intervention and control of the Legendary Witch Lich...
...the Death Sky Curtain would be nothing more than a disorganized mass of death energy.
Its threat would be drastically reduced.
