Kiro sneered. "Li Ruanyu? That traitor to the nobility? So this is where you’ve been hiding. What makes a traitor like you think you’re worthy of meeting Captain Ishigaki? Either surrender or fight."
Li Ruanyu scoffed. "I killed your Squad Leader Matsuge Yuki and your team leader Yukigaki Shugo. Echizen Hideyoshi is my prisoner. Now tell me, am I qualified?"
"What!?"
Kiro’s eyes widened.
He stared at Li Ruanyu in disbelief.
"You’re full of shit! How could Squad Leader Matsuge and Team Leader Yukigaki possibly have been killed by you? Stop spouting nonsense..."
"Oh? Nonsense? So you don’t care if Echizen Hideyoshi lives or dies, is that it?"
Kiro glanced back at Muchang in the distance.
His eyes darted around. "What proof do you have that Captain Echizen is with you?"
Li Ruanyu smiled. "Open those wolf eyes of yours and take a good look. What’s this on my ear?"
"Your ear?" Kiro craned his neck to get a closer look.
"Is that... the Cyan Sky Earrings? Captain Echizen was really captured by you?"
"Alright, little lackey, you can shut up now. Get Ishigaki Yuji over here to talk."
Kiro clenched his fists.
Then he actually walked to the side to communicate with Muchang.
Zhao Chi listened intently the entire time. While there was a lot he didn’t understand, he knew that this Cloud Rank Leader must be very important.

He had thought he was about to face a bloody battle with the resistance army. How did several of his instructors and classmates end up being part of it?
And from the looks of it, was Li Ruanyu the one initiating the attack?
