Chapter 352: Chapter 282: Village Defense Battle (18)

’So this is a Racial Bloodline Bud?’

"Hah... Thank you..." Shirel collapsed back onto the bed, utterly drained.

’She actually thanked me.’

Zhao Chi was surprised, but his attention was fixed on the small, orb-like Bloodline Bud.

[Primordial Angel Bloodline Bud x1]

’What?’

’How is this an Angel’s Bloodline Bud?’

’Is she an Angel?’

’Isn’t she an Elf?’

Zhao Chi stared at Shirel, stunned.

Shirel lay motionless on the bed.

Her fair skin was covered in sweat.

Half was from what Zhao Chi had just done, and the other half was from the creation of the Bloodline Bud.

Seeing Zhao Chi’s expression, Gu Qing knew something was wrong.

"My Lord, what’s wrong?"

Zhao Chi handed the Angel Bloodline Bud to Gu Qing. "Take a look for yourself."

Gu Qing took it.

She wiped the blood off the Bloodline Bud before inspecting it.

Her eyes widened in astonishment.

She turned and stared at Shirel.

Lying weakly with her legs pressed together, Shirel noticed their strange looks. She asked, panting, "What in the world is going on? Why is that Bloodline Bud golden? I remember it’s supposed to be light green."

Gu Qing looked to Zhao Chi, who, after a moment’s thought, nodded.

Gu Qing handed the Angel Bloodline Bud to her.

Shirel glanced at it, then cried out to Zhao Chi in alarm, "What? You’re an Angel?"

Stunned, Zhao Chi pointed at his own nose. "What? Is this because of me? Am I an Angel?"

Gu Qing stared at Zhao Chi in shock. "It can’t be, My Lord. You’re an Angel?"

The three of them stared at each other, completely baffled.

But Zhao Chi was the first to regain his composure. "Wait, wait, this isn’t right. I’m definitely not an Angel. Shirel, you’re the Angel, aren’t you?"

Shirel shook her head vigorously. "I’m a Noble Elf. I’m one hundred percent sure of it. Besides, my information panel says I’m an Elf. It’s impossible for me to be an Angel."

’That’s true,’ Zhao Chi thought.

Zhao Chi could see her information on the captive interface.

It clearly stated her Race was High Elf.

’Could it be... I’m the Angel?’

’No, that’s not right.’

Zhao Chi could see his own information panel, too.

The panel clearly stated he belonged to the Human Race.

’Then what happened?’

’Was it a mutation?’

Zhao Chi shared this with the two women, and Gu Qing and Shirel looked at each other in dismay.

Shirel shook her head. "I’ve never heard of a Racial Bloodline mutating. Even if one did, it would only be a slight change in the Genes. How could the entire Race be different?"

’That’s true...’

A horse and a donkey can only produce a mule; even with a mutation, they couldn’t give birth to a tiger.

When an Elf and a Human mix, even if the resulting bloodline isn’t an Elf’s, it should at least be Human. How could an Angel’s possibly appear?

’Could it be related to my Talent?’

’Did it convert the Elf Bloodline information into Angel information?’

’That’s not right, either. There was no source for the information.’

Zhao Chi couldn’t figure it out.

Gu Qing suddenly frowned. "Shirel, after you were captured by those bandits, are you sure they didn’t do anything to you? What if one of them was an Angel, and he..."

"Don’t be ridiculous!" Shirel cut her off immediately. "You just inspected my body, didn’t you? You know what state it’s in. And while we Elves may not have the same taboos as you Humans about reproduction, I can assure you I’ve never been touched by anyone else."

Zhao Chi was completely stumped. "This is just bizarre."

Shirel said, "Whatever the case, it came from you. I used your... essence to guide and activate the process. Don’t even think about shirking responsibility!"

’The way she puts it...’

"What responsibility am I shirking?" Zhao Chi sighed. "It’s not like we had a child. It’s just a Racial Bloodline."

Gu Qing said, "Whatever the reason, this Angel Bloodline shouldn’t be any worse than an Elf Bloodline, right?"

Zhao Chi nodded. "It’s not just ’not worse’—it’s worlds better. And it’s a Primordial Angel Bloodline!"

Shirel looked a little displeased to hear that.

But she knew it was true; the Angel Bloodline was superior.

Even as an Elf, she couldn’t argue the point.

Shirel sat up and handed the Angel Bloodline Bud back to Zhao Chi.

"Even if we don’t know why, you yourself said this Angel Bloodline is better. So you’ll keep your promise, won’t you?"

Zhao Chi nodded. "Of course. You can leave whenever you’re ready. You can also rest for a while if you’d like."

Shirel said weakly, "I’ll leave soon. It’s early morning, which makes it more convenient."

Zhao Chi said, "Tell me what you need. Give me a list. I’ll provide whatever I can."

Zhao Chi was no bandit.

He wasn’t the type to burn bridges or slaughter his enemies to the last man.

Besides, this harvest had far exceeded his expectations.

A Primordial Elf Bloodline would have been quite good, but it couldn’t compare to a Primordial Angel Bloodline.

The latter was a bloodline worth tens of thousands of Gold Coins.

Zhao Chi was almost reluctant to break it down.

’Maybe after I establish a new territory, changing my Race to Angel wouldn’t be a bad idea,’ he mused.

’But right now, this bloodline is still just a bud. I can worry about the rest later.’

Shirel spoke softly, "I need each person to carry at least five days of food. Each person also needs at least one dose of various medicines, while I require at least twenty doses of various High Level Medicines. Additionally, everyone needs a Bow, a Quiver of Arrows, and a full set of Leather Armor. If you have the money, it would be best to give me some extra Gold Coins."

Zhao Chi replied, "The food, Medicine, and Leather Armor are all no problem. However, I can only give you thirty Bows and three hundred Arrows. I can give you some Iron Sabers and Iron Daggers, though."

Shirel nodded slightly. "Fine, that will be enough. Can you give me some Gold Coins?"

"Are twenty Gold Coins enough?"

"It’s not a lot, but it should be barely enough."

"Forget it, I’ll give you thirty."

"Oh? You’re actually a decent person."

"Enough with the sarcasm. Rest for a little while. I’ll have someone prepare everything immediately."

"Mm, alright." Shirel sank back onto the bed.

She closed her eyes wearily, looking as if she would fall asleep at any moment.
