Chapter 823: Chapter 551: New Information and Meeting the 3 Sages
Surging Space Magic Power rippled within the Array, causing the light around its edges to twist bizarrely.
"Let’s go." Mage Delin gestured for him to proceed.
Raylo did not hesitate, stepping into the center of the Array. The moment he stepped inside, silver light erupted, completely swallowing his figure. The light vanished as quickly as it had appeared. In the blink of an eye, the Array, along with Raylo and Mage Delin, disappeared without a trace. The study returned to its original state, as if nothing had ever happened.
A brief moment later.
The sensation of spatial transition lasted for less than a second. When Raylo’s vision cleared, he found himself standing atop an unimaginably towering white spire. Beneath his feet was a mirror-smooth floor made of an unknown Crystal Stone. There were no guardrails around him, and the biting high-altitude winds whipped at his robes, making a loud FLAP FLAP sound.
Looking out, he saw a Sky City suspended above a Cloud Sea. Countless Mage Towers of various designs pierced the clouds like sharp swords, connected to one another by bridges of rainbow light. Many massive Magical Beasts wove through the Cloud Sea. Elegant Griffins and Giant Eagles formed patrol squads, soaring among the towers.
At the center of the city stood a colossal tower, grander than all the other Mage Towers combined, reaching straight into the heavens. Its peak disappeared into the depths of the Star Realm, far beyond the reach of Mortal sight.
This was the sacred land in the hearts of all Mages: Mage City! And the spire beneath his feet was the highest point of Mage City, the legendary residence of the three Sages—the Observatory Tower.
Mage Delin’s figure materialized beside him. He reached out into the void and gave it a gentle pull. The space ahead tore open silently like a soft curtain of water, creating a rift just large enough for a single person to pass through.
"Keep up." Mage Delin’s voice carried a hint of solemnity as he stepped inside first.
Raylo steadied his mind and closely followed. The moment he passed through the water-like curtain, the noise of the city was completely cut off, replaced by absolute silence and absolute grandeur.
Raylo found himself standing on a path paved with starlight. At the end of the road were three blurry, massive humanoid silhouettes of light. He abruptly looked up, attempting to take in the entirety of the space, but his breath caught in his throat. It didn’t feel like the interior of a tower at all; it was a starry sky!
Beneath his feet was a floor as smooth as Obsidian, yet it reflected the trajectories of billions of Stars above. Countless galaxies, Nebulas, and dust bands slowly swirled across the dome. Their brilliant radiance cascaded down like a waterfall, yet remained completely soundless. There were no walls and no boundaries. The entire space seemed to be a microcosm of the universe.
The Magic Elements here were so dense they were nearly tangible. No longer scattered particles, they converged into streams of Magic Power visible to the naked eye, slowly flowing around the space. Just by breathing in this place, Raylo felt the Magic Power within his body cheering in delight, his Spiritual Power becoming active at an unprecedented rate.
"This is the Courtyard of the Sages. It is also the core of the Observatory Tower." Mage Delin’s voice rang in Raylo’s ears, breaking the silence. "It is only open to the outside world when all three Sages are present."
Raylo’s gaze swept past Mage Delin and looked ahead. Quietly standing on both sides of the starlight path were ten figures. They were all familiar faces—the ten Legendary Mages who had participated in the battle at the Jade Swamp. They were the pillars of the Human World, existences who could cause a Kingdom to tremble with a simple stomp of their feet. Yet at this moment, they stood there as quietly as the most devout students, their gazes converging at the end of the starlight path.
Following their line of sight, Raylo looked toward the three indomitable silhouettes of light. As he and Mage Delin approached, the three silhouettes gradually became clearer. They weren’t actually incomparably massive. Instead, their very existence warped the surrounding space and perception, making it impossible for any observer to accurately gauge their true forms and distance.
Raylo forced himself to focus and finally made out their appearances. The features of the three figures were clearly visible, yet they gave off a bizarre sense of being unmemorable. It was as if looking at them meant looking not at flesh and blood, but at the physical manifestation of certain laws.
On the left was an elderly man. He was white-haired, his skin as withered as thousand-year-old tree bark, and his eyes were murky, as if bearing the weight of the world’s entire passage of time. He wore the simplest gray cloth robes and held an impossibly thick ancient book in his hand. Its cover was forged of an unknown metal and exuded a heavy, historical aura.
The figure in the center was the most peculiar. He appeared to be a handsome man in his thirties with shoulder-length black hair. However, his eyes looked as though they held two collapsing, fusing stars. Just making eye contact with him made Raylo feel as if his Spiritual Power was being scorched and evaporated by a terrifying heat. He sat casually on a throne formed of pure Arcane Magic energy, a strand of golden lightning constantly flickering in and out of existence around his fingertips.
On the right was a woman. She stood there quietly, yet also seemed entirely absent. Her face was shrouded in a thin veil of mist, and her form constantly shifted between reality and illusion, as though she might blend into the surrounding void at any moment. Her presence was incredibly faint; had he not seen her with his own eyes, Raylo’s Spiritual Perception wouldn’t have been able to catch a single trace of her.
Mage Delin lowered his voice, quickly introducing them to Raylo: "Raylo, these three are the Guardians of Mage City, the three Sages of our world."
