Chapter 665 - 475: That Little Count Is Just a Toad

Chapter 665: Chapter 475: That Little Count Is Just a Toad

"Where are the masters?"

Avril stepped forward and asked in a gentle voice.

"They’re still inside."

Raylo pointed behind him.

"They found the research notes left by Master Phillips and are completely engrossed."

Avril and Lillian looked at each other, a helpless expression mirrored in their eyes.

"I’ll go get them."

Avril said, turning to go inside.

However, it took her and Lillian a full half-hour of coaxing and pleading—even resorting to the threat, "If you don’t come out to eat, we’re going to hide the notes!"

Only then did they finally manage to "escort" the two Legendary Mages, who seemed to have merged with the workshop, out of the building.

When Delin and Wendel saw the sunlight again, they squinted, their eyes still adjusting.

Their faces were a mixture of unfulfillment and annoyance at being disturbed.

"Young lady, do you have any idea how you interrupted us right at the most critical part of our research?!"

Master Wendel huffed, glaring at his precious student.

"Indeed, Avril."

For once, Mage Delin also put on a stern face.

"The worst thing you can do during research is interrupt it midway."

"I know, I know."

Lillian stuck out her tongue and made a face.

"No matter how important your studies are, you still have to fill your stomachs first! Let’s go, let’s go! I had the kitchen prepare your favorite roasted Dragon Lizard legs!"

Dragged along by the two young women, the two reluctant Legendary Mages were finally "escorted" back to the Lord’s Mansion, looking back with every step.

Raylo watched them go, the smile on his face slowly turning profound.

He knew.

’It’s time for the next step.’

The dining hall of the Lord’s Mansion was filled with the rich aroma of food.

The long dining table was laden with a lavish breakfast.

There were golden, crispy roasted Dragon Lizard legs, Black Stone Territory’s signature roasted goose and honey-glazed Vanilla Rabbits, steaming mushroom bisque, and an assortment of fresh fruits and freshly baked bread.

But the atmosphere at the table was a bit strange.

Lillian and Avril were diligently piling food onto the two Legendary Mages’ plates.

And while Delin and Wendel were eating, they were clearly absent-minded.

Their gazes kept drifting involuntarily toward the massive steel structure outside the window.

"Master, have some more of this. I had the kitchen make it specially for you."

"Master, try this soup. It’s made with Elemental Spring Water, so it’s good for restoring Spiritual Power."

The two young women tried everything they could to appease these two "old children."

Just then, the dining hall doors swung open.

Raylo walked in.

He walked straight to the table, pulled out a chair, and sat down opposite the two Legendary Mages.

"Masters, are you well-rested?"

he asked with a smile.

Master Wendel let out a heavy snort and ignored him.

Mage Delin, however, put down his knife and fork, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and looked at Raylo before speaking slowly.

"Lord Raylo, if you have something to say, you might as well say it directly."

He knew that Raylo coming in at this moment was not simply to join them for breakfast.

"Alright."

Raylo nodded. He enjoyed dealing with intelligent people.

"I imagine you two masters have gained a preliminary understanding of that Alchemy Workshop,"

Raylo said.

"The knowledge and technology it contains represent the Peak of an era’s Alchemy. Whether it’s the ’Furnace of All Things’ or the research into ’Alchemy Life,’ either one is enough to trigger an unprecedented technological revolution on the Continent."

His words made both Legendary Mages’ eyes light up.

They knew better than anyone that what Raylo said was the truth.

That workshop was a massive treasure trove, capable of changing the state of the world.

"But," Raylo said, his tone shifting, "fully deciphering all this knowledge and converting it into technology we can understand and use is no easy task."

"Master Phillips’s wisdom is like a vast, starry sea. And while Master Barnaby of my Black Stone Territory knows some Alchemy, his main field of research is in potion-making. To try and explore this sea of stars alone... I’m afraid he could spend his entire life and only glimpse a fraction of it."

Raylo looked at the two Legendary Mages, his gaze becoming incredibly sincere.

"Therefore, I hope to collaborate with you two masters in researching this Alchemy Workshop."

"I am willing to share all of Master Phillips’s research notes and experimental data with you, without reservation."

"Together, we can build upon the legacy this Legend has left behind."

A brief silence fell over the dining hall.

Even Master Wendel stopped chewing.

Mage Delin’s eyes twinkled as if he were weighing the gravity of Raylo’s proposal.

Sharing all of Phillips’s legacy.

For any Mage, especially an Alchemist, this proposal was an irresistible temptation.

"And your conditions?"

After a long moment, Mage Delin spoke.

He knew there was no such thing as a free lunch.

Raylo had thrown out such immense bait; he must want something in return.

"My conditions are simple."

Raylo leaned forward slightly, his voice clear and firm.

"I wish to hire you two masters as the chief Magic Consultants for my Black Stone Territory."

’Here it comes.’

Mage Delin’s gaze sharpened slightly.

Master Wendel, on the other hand, reacted as if he’d heard the world’s greatest joke. He slammed his hand on the table and shot to his feet.
