Chapter 587 - 436: Five Dragons Appear in Black Stone Territory
Chapter 587: Chapter 436: Five Dragons Appear in Black Stone Territory
The dizzying sensation of the world spinning around him lasted for only an instant.
It was morning in the Black Stone Territory, and warm sunlight showered the land.
Compared to the twin suns of the Giant Dragon Realm, the sunlight of this world seemed gentle and pleasant.
Raylo walked up to Astra and once again performed a formal, standard Knight’s salute.
"Astra, thank you for all your help during our trip to the Giant Dragon Realm."
"Without you, we never could have obtained these items so easily, let alone escape the Jade Dragon Emperor unscathed."
With that said, Raylo acted without a hint of hesitation.
With a thought, he opened his Spatial Bag.
A brilliant light flashed.
A crystal the size of a human head, looking as if it were carved from jade, appeared before Raylo and hovered in mid-air.
The Heart of the Ancient Tree!
A vast and pure aura of Life Energy spread out in all directions like a tidal wave.
Immediately after, five more flashes of jade-green light appeared.
Five Divine Wood Fruits, jade-green through and through with a light that seemed to flow within them, also began to float around the Heart of the Ancient Tree.
The Life Energy emanating from each Divine Wood Fruit was no less potent than that of a Tier Five Wondrous Object.
These were all the spoils from their trip—trophies won by risking life and limb, snatched from the jaws of two Catastrophe Level beings in their own territories.
Raylo presented all of them, holding nothing back.
"Astra, please choose the spoils you require."
He meant every word.
Without Astra, he couldn’t have even gotten close to the Heaven-Reaching Divine Wood, let alone these priceless Treasures.
Whatever Astra took would be his by right.
Upon seeing these Treasures, the breathing of Sun, Black King, and the three little ones quickened.
The five Divine Wood Fruits, in particular, held an irresistible allure for Giant Dragons.
However, Astra’s reaction was completely unexpected.
His enormous eyes merely swept calmly over the priceless Heart of the Ancient Tree and the five Divine Wood Fruits that could drive any Giant Dragon wild.
His gaze finally settled on one of the Divine Wood Fruits.
Then, he lowered his mountain-like head, took a light breath, and swallowed one of the Divine Wood Fruits.
He merely enveloped it with Dragon Power, storing it temporarily within his stomach.
Having done this, he raised his head, his gaze once again falling upon Raylo.
"One is enough."
Astra’s voice echoed slowly in Raylo’s mind.
Raylo was stunned.
’One?’
’Just a single Divine Wood Fruit?’
’This... How is this possible?’
He had originally thought Astra would be more interested in the Heart of the Ancient Tree. After all, it was a Tier Six Wondrous Object!
"Astra, this..."
Raylo opened his mouth, but for a moment, he was at a loss for words.
Astra seemed to have seen through his confusion.
"My last child is about to hatch."
Astra’s voice explained.
"The Life Energy contained in this Divine Wood Fruit will be enough to help it grow strong and healthy."
Astra and his mate had produced three Dragon Eggs in total. Two had already hatched, leaving only the last one. It seemed that one was also about to hatch.
"As for the others..."
Astra’s voice continued, rousing Raylo from his stupor.
"Keep the Heart of the Ancient Tree and the remaining Divine Wood Fruits."
"Raylo."
"You need them more than I do."
Raylo nodded.
"I understand."
Astra seemed satisfied with Raylo’s reply.
Faint arcs of lightning began to crackle across his immense draconic body.
"I’m heading back now."
"Raylo, I look forward to our next meeting."
The instant his words faded,
BOOM!
In an instant, Astra’s massive, thousand-meter-long body transformed into a brilliant, dazzling streak of blue lightning that tore across the sky!
Without a moment’s pause, the bolt of lightning shot upward, vanishing in an instant over the southern horizon.
He had arrived like a descending god; he departed like a streaking thunderbolt.
The lightning from Astra’s departure soon dissipated completely at the edge of the sky.
Raylo let out a long breath, temporarily pushing the heavy weight of gratitude and responsibility to the back of his mind.
"AWOO!"
"YIP!"
"..."
Three distinct cries, filled with urgency and longing, rang out at once.
Unable to restrain themselves any longer, the three little ones—Moonlight, Coal Ball, and Lightning—became three blurs of different colors, darting from all directions to land in Raylo’s arms and at his feet.
Moonlight’s large tail wagged rapidly behind it, betraying its inner excitement.
Coal Ball was even more direct. It latched onto Raylo’s calf with its front paws, its entire body dangling there. It looked up with its small face, its Obsidian-like eyes welling up with tears in a shameless display that screamed, ’I’m not letting go until you give me one!’
Meanwhile, Lightning circled Raylo’s ankles, its body emitting faint crackles of electricity—CRACKLE... CRACKLE—to express its impatience.
Not far away, the Golden Dragon Sun, who had remained in his true Giant Dragon form, was struggling to maintain the dignity befitting a noble Golden Dragon. He didn’t come forward to beg like the little ones, but his massive golden head kept glancing over at Raylo. An unmistakable longing flickered in his enormous golden eyes.
On the other side of the plaza, Black King lay on the ground, burying his massive head between his front paws, sulking all by himself.
