Chapter 991: Xiao Chong Extra Story 43_3
A student of Peking University really is hard to connect in your head with an idol who didn’t even finish high school and debuted overseas before coming back to China.
No wonder she was shocked. But what was with that look on Xiao Chong’s face!
"Oh right, don’t tell anyone about this, okay? Otherwise it’ll definitely cause trouble for people." Lin Wanwan suddenly remembered to remind him.
Xiao Chong gave a brief reply. He had zero interest in gossiping about others.
But Lin Wanwan’s attention didn’t stay on the fresh scoop for long, because Xiao Chong had already scooped her up and carried her into the bathroom, kissing her hard the moment they went in.
Right now the two of them looked pretty much exactly like the couple they’d just seen at the door.
Mm, they were even rapidly approaching the state her roommate had just been in.
With the last bit of reason left in her overwhelmed body and mind, Lin Wanwan pushed at Xiao Chong. "No, I don’t want to shower together."
In his cool voice, Xiao Chong let out a low laugh. "So Wanwan was thinking of taking a lovers’ bath with me? Sure, I can make that happen."
Lin Wanwan shrank her hand back like she’d been burned. "...I was not."
A lovers’ bath was not going to happen. Even if Lin Wanwan agreed, Xiao Chong had no desire to challenge his own self-control.
He really wanted to save the most fun stuff for their wedding night to unlock, but... there were still three years and two months to go before he hit legal marriage age!
It was way too long!
Maybe he should charge a bit of interest first.
Lin Wanwan knew that once she stepped into his room, it would be very hard to get out completely unscathed. But... she did kind of enjoy it a little.
The next day was New Year’s Day holiday. After morning reading, Lin Wanwan video-called her grandpa on the balcony, then hugged a soft, squishy teddy bear and sprawled on the beanbag chair, basking in the sun.
The sun was especially nice today. All the balcony windows were open, they’d even moved the Imperial Concubine chair out and spread the quilt over it to sun. If you leaned closer, you could smell the scent of sunshine on it.
Xiao Chong had gone out early in the morning and still wasn’t back. For now, Lin Wanwan had the place to herself.
She hadn’t been sunbathing long when the electronic lock at the door beeped.
Lin Wanwan kept her eyes closed, soaking in the sunlight, not even bothering to look.
Xiao Chong came in carrying piping hot breakfast he’d just bought from a nearby shop, set it on the table, then headed straight for the balcony.
Even with her eyes closed, Lin Wanwan could feel a shadow fall over her.
Xiao Chong hugged her and stole a kiss, chuckling. "My Wanwan smells like sunshine too now."
Lin Wanwan squirmed away, giggling from the ticklishness. She opened her eyes and fussed at him. "You’re so annoying~"
Xiao Chong stared straight at her, his voice low and teasing. "What part is annoying?"
Their eyes locked, and in an instant the air between them shifted. Ambience turned charged and flirty, and the sweetness of being in love seemed to overflow through the whole place.
Xiao Chong lowered his head and began gently brushing soft little kisses over Lin Wanwan’s lips.
She instinctively closed her eyes, relaxed, and let him do whatever he wanted.
After a long while, Xiao Chong held Lin Wanwan close, their cheeks pressed together, his breath heavy and hot.
He stayed like that for a bit before finally getting up, pulling Lin Wanwan up with him. "Hungry? Get up and have breakfast."
Lin Wanwan nodded. "Did you go out really early? Your face is all cold."
As he took the takeaway breakfast out and plated it, Xiao Chong replied, "Yeah. I went to the nearby park this morning to stretch a bit. When I figured it was about time for you to get up, I bought breakfast and came back."
Lin Wanwan lowered her head with a little smile. At eighteen, nineteen, love was so simple that just having breakfast together felt unbelievably happy.
After they finished eating, Xiao Chong took out a wrapped box and handed it to Lin Wanwan. "Wanwan, it’s 2017. Happy New Year."
Smiling, Lin Wanwan took it and set it aside, then tipped her head back, grabbed his collar and pulled his face right down close to hers, whining, "Cousin, I want an iced Coke, can you go get one for me?"
Because Xiao Chong liked her calling him "cousin" at certain times, every now and then Lin Wanwan would deliberately lean over and murmur it in his ear.
Watching his ears suddenly turn red, she found it very amusing.
Same now—the moment that unexpected "cousin" left Lin Wanwan’s lips, Xiao Chong’s ears went red again. Who knew what kind of images flashed through his mind.
He paused for a moment, fixing those dark eyes steadily on her, and smiled indulgently. "Okay, I shall go fetch it for you."
He didn’t even bother with the usual nagging about her not drinking iced Coke in winter.
The moment he opened the fridge, Xiao Chong froze.
Because the fridge was actually stuffed with fresh flowers, beer, Coke, and a gift box.
It was obvious this was a surprise Lin Wanwan had secretly put together for him.
Xiao Chong glanced back at Lin Wanwan. "When did you prepare this?"
He’d noticed last night that his girl was mysteriously messing around on her phone, he just didn’t know what she was up to.
Because he didn’t want to pry into everything and make her feel pressured, he pretended not to notice.
He hadn’t expected that all of this was for him.
"Not telling you." Lin Wanwan said with a mischievous smile.
Xiao Chong took the gift box and a can of iced Coke from the fridge, put them on the table, then bent down to kiss her cheek. "Wifey, thank you."
Lin Wanwan’s face flushed. "Who are you calling wifey!"
Xiao Chong took her hand and lifted it so the ring on her middle finger was in sight. "Isn’t it only a matter of time?"
Lin Wanwan pulled her hand back, flustered. "Well, it’s not now anyway."
Xiao Chong laughed and changed the subject. "Then, shall we open the presents together?"
Lin Wanwan nodded seriously. "Mm!"
This kind of gift exchange ritual was exactly the kind of romance a girl dreamed about.
Even though Xiao Chong found it a tiny bit childish and funny, more than anything he felt content.
In this lifetime, getting to personally be by Lin Wanwan’s side as she grew up came with a kind of "raising her" happiness.
Watching her go from chubby baby cheeks to her coming-of-age ceremony, slowly shedding that youthful greenness, like a tightly closed bud gradually blooming—sometimes it even gave him the illusion of "my girl is finally growing up."
