Chapter 427: Clue
Chapter 427: Chapter 427: Clue
Inside the B7 corridor.
Woperi, piloting the Storm Envoy, was searching for a concealed hiding spot.
Suddenly, a Death Filth Spirit materialized above Woperi’s head without any warning and lunged down at him.
Woperi leaped back abruptly.
The Death Filth Spirit’s pounce missed.
"What the hell is this thing?"
Woperi stared at the Death Filth Spirit, his expression grim.
Just then, Long Ming’s warning came over the comms channel.
"Everyone, be careful. I’ve spotted an unidentified black, misty creature."
"Damn it, conventional attacks don’t work on this damn thing!"
Colonel Hopka yelled irascibly.
"That thing is called a Death Filth Spirit! Don’t let it get close. It has no physical body and attacks the mind, trying to possess our bodies!"
Antilo warned everyone.
Hearing this, Woperi’s expression changed drastically.
The Death Filth Spirit before him charged again, its form menacing.
Woperi dodged repeatedly, but the Death Filth Spirit was too agile. Steeling himself, he swung his particle Light Blade.
SLICE!
The Death Filth Spirit was instantly sliced in two. Its body seemed to evaporate, letting out a rustling wail before vanishing completely.
Seeing this, Woperi shouted excitedly over the comms channel.
"Particle beam weapons can kill them!"
Outside the Ocean.
Hearing Woperi, Long Ming’s expression sharpened. He met the enemy as fast as an afterimage, swinging his sharp blade in a horizontal sweep.
SLASH!
The Death Filth Spirit before him was cleaved apart again.
As it began to reform,
Long Ming took out a Light Saber from his wristband and activated it, bringing it down in a vicious chop.
SLICE!
The Death Filth Spirit was instantly sliced in two, letting out a pained, horrifying rustle.
In the central control room.
Hopka suddenly activated the gray Giant Hammer in his hands.
ZZZT!
Blue arcs of lightning flickered.
He swung the hammer in a powerful horizontal sweep.
The Death Filth Spirit was struck head-on and disintegrated, emitting a wailing rustle.
Meanwhile, Antilo lowered his Light Beam Cannon and blew a hole straight through the Death Filth Spirit attacking him.
BOOM—
A massive explosion swept through the area.
At that moment, Hopka’s voice came over the comms channel.
"Woperi, Red Ghost, all of you fall back to the central control room and regroup!"
"Understood!"
A series of acknowledgements followed.
Hopka then activated his long-range communications, connected the signal to the Azure Blue, and called out repeatedly.
"Fakadon, Fakadon!"
For a long time, there was no response.
"Damn it, answer me!"
Hopka’s nerves were stretched to their limit, terrified that something had happened on the Azure Blue as well.
Fortunately, Fakadon’s voice finally came through.
"Here, Captain!"
"Fakadon, listen up! This damned planet is home to a special creature called the Death Filth Spirit. They’re almost completely non-corporeal and can easily lie in wait to ambush you and possess your bodies. They’re immune to normal physical attacks, but they’re vulnerable to weapons like particle beams."
Colonel Hopka quickly explained the situation to Fakadon.
"I understand. I’ll have everyone gather and arm themselves with beam weapons for defense!"
Fakadon replied immediately.
"Good! If anything happens, contact me immediately!"
With that, Hopka hung up.
「A few moments later.」
Long Ming and the other three all returned to the central control room.
"Is anyone injured?"
Hopka asked, scanning Long Ming and the others.
"We’re fine."
Long Ming and the others replied in low voices.
"The situation is terrible. If I’m not mistaken, it was these Death Filth Spirits that attacked the Ocean."
Hopka explained his theory, looking at Long Ming and the others.
"So what do we do now? We can’t stay in this hellhole for long!"
Chen Hong asked, looking at Hopka.
"Captain, these Death Filth Spirits are incredibly tricky. They’re very stealthy, and our scanners can’t even pick them up!"
Woperi’s face was also filled with anxiety.
"We still have to find Dr. Anus and the others!"
Hopka was extremely agitated.
"The problem is, we don’t have a single clue. We have no idea where they went."
Antilo pointed out the difficult truth.
Hopka and the others were suddenly caught in a dilemma.
"Actually, I have a clue."
Long Ming said to Hopka and the others in a hoarse voice.
SWISH!
Everyone whipped their heads toward Long Ming.
"Damn it, if you have a clue, then spit it out!"
Hopka snapped.
"I searched the exterior of the Ocean and found some suspicious tracks. They look like they were left by Major Dimru and his team. We might be able to follow them to find them."
Long Ming didn’t take offense at Hopka’s tone.
"Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go!"
Hopka immediately led Long Ming and the others out of the central control room.
As the five of them walked out the door of the central control room and into the wide main corridor, Death Filth Spirits of all different shapes and sizes immediately came into view.
"Interesting. The bastards have stopped hiding!"
Chen Hong said with a fierce grin.
"Damn it! Tear them to pieces!"
Hopka activated his hammer and charged forward, leading the way.
Long Ming and the others followed without a trace of fear.
"AWOOOO—"
The Death Filth Spirits charged at Long Ming’s group.
Hopka fought like a Fierce Beast, swinging his Giant Hammer crackling with lightning. Any Death Filth Spirit hit by it instantly dissipated.
Long Ming nimbly dodged a Death Filth Spirit’s attack and, in the same motion, sliced another one in half.
Woperi and the others also displayed superb combat skills.
The five of them were like gods of slaughter, unstoppably clearing a path down the corridor.
...
Before long, Long Ming’s group had fought their way to the boarding exit.
The moment they burst out of the exit, the scene before them left them stunned.
The entire spaceship was crawling with Death Filth Spirits.
"So many of them?"
Woperi replied, swallowing hard.
Even though they now had a basic understanding of the Death Filth Spirits’ abilities and weaknesses, their sheer numbers were a bit much.
"What’s there to be afraid of? Let’s take them out!"
Piloting the Prisoncrusher Envoy, Hopka swiveled its Shoulder Cannon and began to charge it.
Seeing this, Long Ming and the others also began charging their beam weapons.
ZZZZ—
Beams of light swept out in different directions.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Violent explosions swept across the area.
Swarms of Death Filth Spirits were killed.
"Haha! And here I thought they were supposed to be tough! Turns out they’re just a bunch of trash!"
Hopka shouted, ecstatic.
At this, the remaining Death Filth Spirits retreated in terror, fleeing the Ocean.
"Trying to run? No chance! Get them!"
Piloting the Prisoncrusher Envoy, Hopka took the lead and jumped down.
Long Ming and the others followed without hesitation.
They charged straight into the swarm of Death Filth Spirits.
The remaining Death Filth Spirits could only attack them desperately.
Long Ming held his breath, his mind completely focused. His scarlet eyes stared at the approaching Death Filth Spirits as his thoughts raced, predicting their attack patterns and weaknesses.
He dodged their attacks as fast as a gale, his Light Saber slashing out viciously.
SLICE!
One after another, the Death Filth Spirits were cleaved in two.
