Chapter 2425: Chapter 16: The Perks of a Crowd
Chang Jiayi understood that Scholar was different from child student, and the benefits they enjoyed were also different.
Moreover, Mountain Master Meng’s intention was that if he passed the exam to become a Scholar, he might be able to become a teacher in the Enlightenment Class.
Chang Jiayi took this to heart. Two years ago, he began, without neglecting his daughter, to read as much as possible. Reading in the academy and reading at home are completely different; there are teachers here who have read widely, and there are students who compete with each other.
Whenever Chang Jiayi was free, he would hold his daughter outside the classroom to listen to the lectures.
Meng Yunzheng had tested him and advised him to try the exam next year.
Therefore, when Wei Qin and Chang Jiayi came together, Meng Yunzheng was happy to see it.
Their wedding is scheduled for the end of this year, and before that, Wei Qin plans to make a trip to the capital to inform Aunt Hong and to account for Song Dazhuang.
This is also why she and Song Le are part of this expedition.
Ever since knowing that Wei Qin would become her mother, Xiao’e liked following her. This time they would be apart for several months, and she couldn’t bear to part with her, so she clung to her, wishing to spend more time with her before the team set out.
It wasn’t until she saw Song Le bringing Meng Yunzheng over that Xiao’e let go of the hem she was holding, and stood aside.
Mianmian, on the other hand, ran over, grabbed her hand, and looked up to ask, “Xiao’e sister, are you going with us?”
Xiao’e shook her head in disappointment, “I’m not going.”
Since her father and future mother are not married yet, if she follows them, people would gossip.
Mianmian was very disappointed. She had quietly observed earlier and found that although there were some children along the way, she was the only girl baby.
She wondered whether it would still be possible for her mother to have a little sister now.
Little Mianmian began to worry again, but before she could come up with a good idea, her body suddenly floated in the air, lifted by Meng Yunzheng.
“What are you thinking about? Your little forehead is all wrinkled.”
Little Mianmian was startled, quickly raised her hands and pressed hard on her forehead, “How about now, is there still a wrinkle?”
Everyone around laughed, and Wei Qin hurriedly said, “It’s gone now.”
“Whew…” Luckily, she didn’t become ugly.
“Let’s go, it’s time for us to set off.” Meng Yunzheng held little Mianmian and walked forward.
Wei Qin patted Xiao’e’s head and said to Chang Jiayi, who was standing a little way off, “We’re leaving.”
“Okay.”
Wei Qin walked ahead and shared a carriage with Kang Shuxian. There were fewer women in the convoy, just a few, so there were basically two or three per carriage.
Yuan Gui confirmed the number of people and the status of goods one last time, then mounted his horse, waved his hand to the people behind him, and the convoy slowly started moving forward.
The convoy didn’t move quickly. Little Mianmian initially lay by the carriage window looking at the scenery outside, but after a while, grew bored.
Meng Yunzheng could only take her horseback riding. Huohuo stared eagerly, and Meng Yunzheng straightforwardly lifted both of them onto the horse.
Thus, all along the journey, the two siblings laughed wildly.
Seeing this, Shu Yu quietly had the carriage fall back two positions and comfortably lay down to sleep inside.
When the two children got tired of playing and returned, she woke up to chat with them.
Fortunately, they were easy to manage along the way. There were many people in the convoy; one played with them for a while, another had a chat; even with students in the convoy reading and teaching, Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng were actually the most free, sometimes only able to spend time with them in the evenings.
Indeed, having many people has its benefits.
