Qi Lie left, and it seemed to suddenly become cold and quiet, with the temperature starting to drop.
However, the southwest weather was just comfortable, although the temperature difference between day and night was large, which easily caused illness.
In mid-October, Lu’s branch in the southwest finally opened.
As the sound of ‘crackling’ firecrackers rang out, customers came in curiously, one after another.
Shu Yu stood at the door, watching Luo Shu greet the customers with two staff members, feeling slightly relieved.
On the first day of opening, even though the promotion was in place, business was ultimately not as good as in Changjin Prefecture and Dongan Province. This was already within Shu Yu’s expectations, but the profits were still decent.
She gave bonuses to several people, and Luo Shu was quite steady.
Gu Xinghua and another staff member were very excited, and now both of them lived in the backyard of the store.
Miss Four, Shu Zhao, brought her child and helped with cooking in the backyard. Over the years, she had honed some culinary skills and learned to manage carefully.
Shu Yu saw that she was much more proficient in her work. Although cooking for two staff members was manageable, she did not hire a kitchen maid and instead opened a wage for Shu Zhao.
After the store opened, Shu Yu and others stayed in Hetai Prefecture for half a month.
They were supposed to stay for a month to observe the sales situation and make an end-of-month summary. However, it was already November, and if they delayed further, they would likely miss New Year’s back home.
Having been out for most of the year, it was not ideal to be on the road during their first year of marriage.
Therefore, seeing that the store was on the right track and that Luo Shu was fully capable of handling it, Shu Yu prepared to set off for home.
Before going back, she and Meng Yunzheng returned to Heichang County once more.
She did not visit Kang Shuxian’s residence; she only saw their stall from afar, and business seemed pretty good.
The expressions on several girls’ faces were no longer numb; instead, they had regained vitality and looked more spirited than before in Qingxuan County.
Perhaps they had truly found something suitable for them.
However, a stall full of young and pretty girls working busily, even if they dressed as married women, inevitably attracted attention and jokes from those lecherous men.
Tao Hongdan and the others had long mastered the art of dealing with men from their time in the black market, and they were well-prepared for such situations. Therefore, as long as there was no physical contact, they had ways to respond, and currently, they seemed to suffer no major loss.
In addition, with the backing of the Office and the local tyrant Wang Changdong, others dared not do much.
Shu Yu did not get off the carriage and, after observing, went straight to Righteous Dao Village.
Righteous Dao Village regained its usual calm, and a few children could occasionally be seen on the road.
The carriage had come several times during this period, and the village kids could already recognize it. Upon seeing them, they immediately rushed to the manor, shouting, “The County Lord is here, County Lord Lu is here.”
By the time the carriage stopped in front of the manor, Steward Yu and Xu Dali, along with Aunt Fang, had run out.
Aunt Fang joyfully said, “Yu is here? I heard your shop opened, was everything smooth?”
“Smooth,” Shu Yu got off the carriage, “So we plan to return to Dongan Province, we’re here today to say goodbye.”
Aunt Fang and Xu Dali’s smiles froze instantly, “You’re preparing to return?”
“Yes.”
Aunt Fang appeared a bit reluctant, but quickly said, “You should return, you’ve been out for so long, your family must miss you.”
