Chapter 2315: Xu Dali’s Information
Chapter 2315: Chapter 2315: Xu Dali’s Information
Ms. Lin was puzzled and walked over to ask softly, “What are you doing?”
Xu Dali raised his hand, “Shh, I’m writing something, don’t make a sound.” While speaking, his eyes lit up as he said to Ms. Lin, “I have a feeling that the county magistrate’s visit to Righteous Dao Village this time might be our chance to leave.”
Ms. Lin’s eyes widened, “Are you serious?”
“I’m not sure, but I’ll do my best to help. I ask for nothing else, just hope to remove Zhensheng from his criminal status, then it will be easier for him to marry and have children.”
Upon hearing such a blessing, Ms. Lin’s eyes immediately turned red. She clutched her clothes tightly, “Then, then you should talk to the county magistrate, and then…”
“No need to talk; the county magistrate is not someone who lets people suffer losses. We didn’t help the county magistrate much in those days; we only helped her reclaim wasteland when she first came to Righteous Dao Village. With this bond, she introduced me to take over the registered tasks at the manor when she left. If I really help her this time, there’s no need to say anything; the county magistrate won’t forget us.”
Ms. Lin agreed and nodded, “Then quickly write, I’ll go make spicy fried chicken.”
“When Zhensheng comes back later, let him come over.”
Xu Zhensheng no longer needed to collect dirt clods in the wasteland with his frail body like before. Xu Family’s days have been better over the years, and he has more free time, regaining his cheerful disposition from before the exile.
Thus, he had made many friends in Righteous Dao Village, and he might know some things even better than himself.
Although Xu Dali had already shared a lot of information with Shu Yu previously, it wasn’t detailed enough. He wrote down what he thought of and handed it to Shu Yu later, thinking it would be useful to her.
When Xu Zhensheng came back, he indeed mentioned a lot of clues, especially information about those people’s families. Including what they did when they took leave or who they met.
Once sorted, they uncovered quite a bit of suspicious behavior that even Xu Dali noticed.
He felt vaguely uneasy, intuitively sensing something major might happen.
He told Ms. Lin and Xu Zhensheng to keep it a secret and not to talk about these things outside. Then, carrying Ms. Lin’s spicy fried chicken and two pages full of writings, he walked toward the Fang Family.
When Shu Yu saw him, she was taken aback for a moment, but Xu Dali simply smiled and said, “My wife made spicy fried chicken; she originally wanted to invite the county magistrate and Sir Meng to our house for a meal. But after knowing that you’re leaving this afternoon, she quickly made this special dish for me to bring over for you to taste.”
“That’s too kind of your wife.” Shu Yu thanked him.
Meng Yunzheng came over and took the plate. However, as soon as his fingers touched the bottom of the plate, he found a thick package of paper underneath.
He was slightly surprised, looked at Xu Dali for a moment, and then discreetly put the paper package away while turning.
Xu Dali left, and Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng had lunch at the Fang Family, chatted with Ma Lu, and then said their goodbyes.
Ma Lu and Fang Xiyue were reluctant, “If the matter is settled, come visit Righteous Dao Village again.”
“Certainly.”
Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng got on the carriage and slowly left the village under the watchful eyes of the Fang Family.
Once on the carriage, Meng Yunzheng unfolded the piece of paper and looked at the densely written characters. Shu Yu couldn’t help but sigh, “Xu Dali’s information is much more detailed than Shu Quan’s.”
The two leaned together to look, and as they continued, their expressions became peculiar.
