Chapter 1225 - An Yang and Jiaojiao (2)

Chapter 1225: An Yang and Jiaojiao (2)

“I didn’t know he would come today…” Hu Jiaojiao stuttered. She did not anticipate this coincidence to happen. Why did she meet An Yang here today?

She didn’t even know that An Yang returned to Beijing.

An Yang hurriedly looked away and said to Jian Yiling: “Boss, I just remembered that I have some other things to deal with today. My grandfather asked me to deal with something during this trip. I will take my leave for now. I will come back to see you some other time,” An Yang said as he walked away without even looking back.

It was as if there were wolves and tigers chasing him.

As Hu Jiaojiao watched An Yang’s departing figure, the light in her eyes dimmed a lot.

It took her a while to gather her thoughts again. Hu Jiaojiao eventually put a smile on her face as she told Jian Yiling about the recent happenings at university.

“Pepper, is there anything I can help with?” Jian Yiling asked with a serious expression on her face.

“No no, I haven’t encountered any problems,” Hu Jiaojiao replied with a forced smile on her face. “It’s just a breakup. Breakups are totally normal in this day and age. Furthermore, we broke up more than a year ago. I’m fine.”

Even though Hu Jiaojiao insisted that she was fine, despite Jian Yiling’s limited reading comprehension abilities, she could tell that her friend was not really fine. The tone of her voice was off.

“Let’s not talk about this anymore,” Hu Jiaojiao said as she tried to change the topic of conversation. “Let’s talk about you and Master Sheng instead.”

Just like in the past, Jian Yiling and Hu Jiaojiao happily chatted about things.

A while later, she left the Jian Residence.

Even though she did not look very different, from time to time, she would unconsciously freeze. Then, sadness would appear in her eyes.

Jian Yiling felt like this girl in front of her was different from the timid and naive person she once knew.

And this change… It was definitely related to An Yang.

###

An Yang’s grandfather held a very prestigious and powerful position in Southwest Asia.

When Jian Yiling stayed at Jinshui Village, ruffians and thugs there knew of An Yang’s name. This was because An Yang inherited the position from his grandfather.

The initial conflict between An Yang and Hu Jiaojiao was caused by An Yang’s mother.

An Yang’s mother was adamantly against An Yang and Hu Jiaojiao’s dating.

In her eyes, Hu Jiaojiao’s family held no position nor status in society.

Furthermore, Hu Jiaojiao was not overly pretty nor talented. There was nothing that stood out about her.

And thus, An Yang’s mother intervened in their relationship.

As her intervention caused An Yang and Hu Jiaojiao quite a bit of trouble, conflicts began to gradually emerge between the two of them.

Eventually, they began to argue more and more. This caused a lot of things to change.

In the end, An Yang’s mother contacted Hu Jiaojiao’s parents. When Hu Jiaojiao learned that her parents were being harassed, she finally lost her temper.

Even though she had always been timid, in order to protect her family from harassment, she told An Yang that she wanted to break up.

And after the two of them broke up, An Yang took a break from university and went to Southwest Asia to help his grandfather with work. Then, he took over his grandfather’s position and invested all his time and energy into work. He wanted to forget about the relationship with Hu Jiaojiao.

However, even though he wanted to forget about her, whenever it was late into the night, he would still think about that timid and short girl. That girl who would always be determined to protect her friends.

He just kept those thoughts to himself.

After all, the conflict that lay between him and Hu Jiaojiao was their families.
