Chapter 673 - 326: Marketing Department Manager, Wang Shuo
Chapter 673: Chapter 326: Marketing Department Manager, Wang Shuo
"That’s right." When the topic shifted to the salary—his biggest concern—Wang Shuo appeared especially nervous.
Seeing his tension, Lin Shen asked with a smile, "What are your salary expectations?"
"Um, two hundred thousand?" Wang Shuo hesitantly offered a figure he found acceptable. He thought, "After all, I’m jumping ship. I can’t earn less than what I made at Pet Guardian Home, right? It has to be at least the same, or I won’t have the motivation to keep working!"
Therefore, Wang Shuo only gave Lin Shen an estimated starting figure, which surprisingly caught Lin Shen off guard.
"Two hundred thousand?" Lin Shen asked.
"Uh, do you think that’s too high? If it is..." Wang Shuo looked troubled, torn over whether he should lower his asking price. He knew it was difficult to ask a new company to match his previous salary, considering the difference in their foundations.
However, Lin Shen’s next words completely exceeded Wang Shuo’s expectations.
"Let’s make it three hundred thousand," Lin Shen said with a smile. "A base annual salary of three hundred thousand, plus bonuses and performance incentives. There’s also a commission for regional sales, but that will depend on your KPI."
"Three hundred thousand?" To be honest, this salary was far beyond Wang Shuo’s expectations.
Back in Jinling, he was just an ordinary general manager with a base salary of two hundred thousand. Even with various performance bonuses, he made a little over three hundred thousand a year at most. Yet, just by coming to Shennan, his base salary had skyrocketed to three hundred thousand! If he factored in the other miscellaneous performance bonuses and subsidies, wouldn’t his annual income reach five hundred thousand?!
Such a compensation package was considered quite excellent even in Modu. Thrilled, Wang Shuo hurriedly shook Lin Shen’s hand, as if terrified the man might go back on his word.
"Thank you so much, President Lin! Thank you for appreciating my worth!" Wang Shuo said. "I definitely won’t let your trust down. I will work incredibly hard!"
"Those are matters for the future," Lin Shen said, smiling as he patted Wang Shuo on the shoulder. "I’m giving you such good treatment because I trust you right now. If you perform well later on, your compensation can be increased at any time."
"President Lin..." Honestly, Wang Shuo was so moved he was almost on the verge of tears.
When he worked at Pet Guardian Home, his job hadn’t been going smoothly. Coupled with the various changes at the Modu branch, his working environment had been severely impacted. Consequently, he had been filled with anxiety about the future. After all, he still had a car loan and a mortgage to pay off. His child was still in kindergarten, and his wife was unemployed. It was safe to say the pressure and burden of his entire family’s survival rested squarely on his shoulders. The stress had been absolutely immense!
Yet, under these exact circumstances, Lin Shen—as the chairman of Shennan—actually offered him such a high salary. This left Wang Shuo deeply surprised and incredibly delighted.
Lin Shen’s thoughts on the matter, however, were very simple. Right now, he wasn’t short on money; he was short on talent. Since that was the case, he might as well spend a premium to secure it. Anyway, with the existence of the cracked "Direct Employee Recruitment" app, the salary cost of hiring any employee would be reduced by half. He might as well offer exorbitantly high salaries. As long as an employee’s pay was high, they wouldn’t have as many external worries or ulterior motives at work; their sole goal would be to do their job well. This was exactly the scenario Lin Shen wanted to see most.
"Thank you, President Lin, President Qin," Wang Shuo said, expressing his intense gratitude to the two of them before immediately promising, "I’ll find a place to live in Modu first. Once I find an apartment, I’ll come straight to work."
"Your family is in Jinling, right?" Lin Shen mused for a moment before letting out a light chuckle. "How about this? I’ll reimburse you for four round-trip high-speed rail tickets every week so you can easily return to Jinling. How does that sound?"
Lin Shen’s sudden offer of extra benefits left Wang Shuo completely stunned all over again. He never expected his new boss to be this generous!
Although Jinling wasn’t far from Modu and a high-speed rail ticket only cost a little over a hundred yuan, a month’s worth of round-trip travel would still amount to more than a thousand—a fairly significant sum. Yet Lin Shen was willing to reimburse it directly. This made Wang Shuo feel truly valued once more, filling his heart with a surge of excitement and deep emotion.
"President Lin, thank you so much."
"It’s a small matter," Lin Shen said casually. "As long as you work hard, your benefits and compensation will only get better from here."
"Will do!" Wang Shuo’s eyes sparkled with astonishing brilliance.
After chatting with Lin Shen and Qin Yuenan for a while longer, Wang Shuo stood up to take his leave, planning to settle into a hotel first. Lin Shen directly had Xu Lei arrange a hotel room for him, taking care of his needs in every aspect. After all, reimbursing travel and accommodation expenses for a candidate was the right thing to do.
Only after seeing Wang Shuo out did Lin Shen finally get the chance to talk to Qin Yuenan alone. He leaned close to the aloof, mature beauty, wrapping an arm around her slender waist before asking with a smile right by her ear, "Nan, have you missed me lately?"
"Hmph, it’s not like we didn’t see each other a few days ago. Why would I miss you?" Qin Yuenan scoffed coldly, her expression as icy as ever. Despite her stubborn words, however, her body subconsciously leaned closer to Lin Shen. Nestling into his embrace, she asked softly, "The mooncake gift boxes and holiday gift cards purchased by the logistics department have arrived. When do you plan to distribute them?"
"This afternoon." Feeling the soft, delicate curves of Qin Yuena in his arms, Lin Shen couldn’t resist pressing a kiss to her cheek. "Let’s grab some lunch first. We’ll hand out the gift boxes this afternoon, and tomorrow starts the holiday!"
"The holiday starts tomorrow?" This took Qin Yuenan quite by surprise.
Generally speaking, the National Day holiday began on the first of October and lasted for seven consecutive days. Better companies might skip the makeup workdays, but Lin Shen was actually planning to start the time off on September 30th? This made Qin Yuenan rather curious about his management style, prompting her to warn him. "If you treat the employees too well, some people might think you’re easy to bully and start slacking off."
"That was in the past," Lin Shen chuckled lightly. "I’m paying them such high salaries, which naturally incentivizes them to work hard. After all, opportunities to make big money like this are rare.
"Of course, I’ll have people supervising them. If anyone slacks off, I’ll fire them without mercy, regardless of how many connections they have.
"Besides, even if I didn’t give them the day off, there would probably be a lot of people asking for leave tomorrow, wouldn’t there? Everyone is anxious to go home for the holidays. If we waited until the first to let them off, they’d all be stuck in traffic."
"True." While Qin Yuenan might debate with Lin Shen in her professional field of expertise, when it came to company management, she deferred to his judgment most of the time.
Hitting it off immediately, the two left the office to grab lunch. As it turned out, there was a restaurant serving Qin Yuenan’s favorite chicken hot pot right downstairs.
"Huh? When did this open?" Qin Yuenan was a bit puzzled.
Having worked in Huamao Mansion for over three years, she knew the surrounding shops like the back of her hand. In her mind, opening a casual chicken hot pot spot in a central business district like this would most likely be unprofitable due to the exorbitant rent. Thus, she was quite surprised.
Seeing her bewildered little expression, Lin Shen smiled and explained, "I brought them in as a tenant. I’m subsidizing the rent, but with the strict condition that it had to be a chicken hot pot restaurant."
Hearing Lin Shen’s words, Qin Yuenan was absolutely certain that he had sought out this restaurant specifically for her. Although the money spent was a drop in the bucket for Lin Shen, his thoughtful little gesture still deeply touched her.
"Thank you," Qin Yuenan whispered her gratitude. Her demeanor was much gentler than usual, and she even took the initiative to hold Lin Shen’s hand outside, leading him into the restaurant.
"We’ll take a medium pot, mildly spicy, with some glass noodles, spinach, and tofu skin."
Lin Shen’s order catered entirely to Qin Yuenan’s preferences. After all, the two had eaten chicken hot pot countless times before. Yet, Qin Yuenan still loved it. As long as it was something she loved to eat, Lin Shen was more than happy to accompany her.
While the two waited for their food, Lin Shen suddenly smiled and asked, "So, have you thought about what time we’re heading out tomorrow?"
"To your place?" Seeing Lin Shen nod, Qin Yuenan eagerly blurted out, "Let’s leave first thing tomorrow morning. How does that sound?!"
