Chapter 670 - 325: The Nanny Enters the House
Chapter 670: Chapter 325: The Nanny Enters the House
"Alright, shall we sign the contract then?"
"Sure!"
Seeing Lin Shen agree so readily, the butler was briefly taken aback before breaking into a wide smile and guiding him through the signing process.
After spending about half an hour wrapping up the paperwork, Mrs. Chen pulled out several forms. She intended to familiarize herself with the house’s layout and furnishings. For instance, she needed to document the materials of the floors and sofas. Different materials required different cleaning methods, ensuring the furniture wouldn’t easily be damaged.
Next, Mrs. Chen confirmed the house’s critical zones with Lin Shen. She meticulously categorized areas and items, clarifying whether she was allowed in the study and verifying the valuables in the jewelry room and safe. Finally, she inquired about Lin Shen’s dietary needs and preferences, drafting a series of supposedly "home-style" menus. To Lin Shen, they looked no different from the offerings at a high-end restaurant, which left him quite satisfied.
With the tedious contract signing finally complete, the butler took his leave, and Mrs. Chen began cleaning the house. Naturally, this initial session was light, primarily focusing on wiping away dust and tackling any smudges in the corners. A deep-cleaning approach was obviously ill-suited for Lin Shen’s sprawling, two-hundred-square-meter flat right now, as it could easily damage the hardwood floors.
Seeing how brisk and meticulous Mrs. Chen was in her work, Lin Shen felt completely at ease leaving her alone in the house.
"I’ll be heading out first, Mrs. Chen," he said.
"Alright!" Mrs. Chen quickly bowed with a smile. "Take care on your way out, President Lin."
"Mm."
A sudden wave of elation washed over Lin Shen. When others called him "President Lin" in the past, he hadn’t felt much; it had just been business as usual. But hearing Mrs. Chen address him that way gave him a distinct sense of superiority, as if he had truly stepped into the upper echelons of the wealthy.
He thought happily, "Money really is meant to be enjoyed!"
He then headed down to the first basement level, got into his Maybach S680, and drove out of the underground parking lot. He didn’t head to the office, however. Instead, he drove toward the Hongqiao High-Speed Railway Station. He had an appointment to meet someone today.
At 11:00 a.m., Hongqiao High-Speed Railway Station.
As the train came to a halt, the doors slowly slid open. Stepping onto the platform, Wang Shuo couldn’t help but take a deep breath before exhaling slowly. Ever since Qin Yuenan resigned from Pet Guardian Home, he hadn’t been back to Modu, nor had he seen the aloof, capable woman.
This was also the point that left him utterly baffled. In his mind, as a core executive at Pet Guardian Home, even if Qin Yuenan had made a massive mistake, she wouldn’t have been forced to resign, right? Unless she had brought it up herself. But why would she quit? Wang Shuo just couldn’t wrap his head around it.
As the general manager of Pet Guardian Home’s Jinling Branch, Wang Shuo considered Qin Yuenan his direct superior. Her departure had a profound impact on him. For starters, it meant he would have a terribly hard time transferring back to the Modu headquarters, effectively leaving him isolated from the core management circle. This was unacceptable to Wang Shuo. He was ambitious and had long been scheming to climb further up the corporate ladder.
But who could have predicted that the leader he allied himself with would resign amidst an office turf war? Generally, in a situation like this, someone would blame their own poor judgment. Wang Shuo, however, simply chalked it up to bad luck. His admiration for Qin Yuenan stemmed not just from her position as his boss, but from her undeniable competence. Reaching the position of Marketing Director at Pet Guardian Home at the mere age of twenty-eight, her future was boundlessly bright! How could such a capable young talent just walk away?
Unable to make sense of it, Wang Shuo asked around extensively and eventually heard rumors from a friend that Qin Yuenan had joined Shennan. And the founder of this Shennan Pet Industry was none other than Qin Yuenan’s former assistant, Lin Shen! This revelation had shocked Wang Shuo to his core, leading him to doubt if the gossip he had dug up was entirely baseless.
But then, out of the blue one day, a high-ranking friend of his still at Pet Guardian Home told him that he had successfully passed an interview at Shennan and was joining the newly established pet industry company. And the head of Shennan was indeed Lin Shen!
Upon confirming the authenticity of this news, Wang Shuo’s only thought was to congratulate his friend. He didn’t feel envious in the slightest. In his eyes, Pet Guardian Home, as a well-established traditional pet industry company, had a much more promising future and certainly offered better compensation than some fresh startup. Even though Qin Yuenan had left, it wouldn’t hinder the company’s growth one bit.
However, what happened next completely exceeded Wang Shuo’s imagination. First came the utter chaos at Pet Guardian Home’s Modu branch. Ever since Qin Yuenan’s resignation, the entire company’s management and operations had sunk into a quagmire. Although it was still moving forward, the progress was excruciatingly slow.
The primary reason was that the cronies promoted by Sun Mingli, the new general manager of Pet Guardian Home’s Modu branch, were abysmally inefficient! They only knew how to use their seniority to bully others, and their mindsets were stuck in the seventies and eighties, completely out of touch with the modern pace.
As a result, a great deal of resentment brewed among the rank-and-file employees, though none dared to speak up. After all, the first thing this new crop of leaders did upon taking office was inevitably promote their own confidants to reap the benefits. Consequently, more and more people began relying on backroom deals and nepotism, causing the operational efficiency of every department to plummet. Since everyone was getting in through connections, their actual work efficiency and competence were woefully inadequate compared to genuine professionals.
Most critically, however, a massive wave of capable veteran employees had been almost entirely poached by Shennan.
