Chapter 658 - 319: Bringing the Little Chef Home
Chapter 658: Chapter 319: Bringing the Little Chef Home
Sunac Binjiang No.1 Courtyard.
Passing through the rows of skyscrapers and arriving at this downtown residential compound, Gu Wanqing’s first reaction was: luxury. Even without seeing the interior of the complex, the prime location alone suggested the housing prices wouldn’t be cheap.
And this thought was quickly validated.
The first thing that caught her eye was the magnificent, wide landscape wall at the entrance. Dazzling decorative lights dotted the surroundings, illuminating the words "Sunac Binjiang" at the very top.
Upon seeing Lin Shen’s car, the security guard naturally stood up and saluted him, which surprised Gu Wanqing quite a bit. So the service attitude in high-end residential compounds was this good!
After Lin Shen drove through the gates and entered the underground parking lot, Gu Wanqing was truly astounded by the luxurious sight before her. Not only was the ceiling equipped with a Rolls-Royce-style starlight headliner, but the surroundings were also decorated with pale yellow LED light strips. The walls and pillars had even been meticulously treated with soundproofing and anti-collision padding.
At first glance, Gu Wanqing thought they hadn’t driven into an underground parking lot, but rather into someone’s living room. After all, regular underground parking lots only had bare concrete walls and a few indicator lights. At most, they might have some light strips and painted walls near the elevator entrances.
But the parking lot at Lin Shen’s place was like the underground parking of a high-end shopping mall. Even more luxurious, in fact! This made Gu Wanqing unable to hold back her amazement.
"Lin Shen, the apartments here must be really expensive, right?"
"I bought this one secondhand for over thirty million."
Over thirty million?!
Gu Wanqing’s eyes widened in disbelief, and she blurted out, "Lin Shen, how big is your place?"
"A little over two hundred square meters—less than three hundred. It’s quite small."
Lin Shen genuinely felt it was small. After all, his dream home was a small villa with its own backyard garden. While a large single-floor apartment was suitable for living, it lacked entertainment facilities like a swimming pool and a gaming room.
However, Gu Wanqing was clearly more interested in this kind of luxury apartment, counting on her fingers as she did some mental math. "So that means it’s over a hundred thousand per square meter? Is this Modu’s housing market? That’s way too high!"
"There are even higher ones." Lin Shen smiled faintly, then parked the car in his designated spot.
And parked right next to it was his Ferrari SF90.
Seeing the deep red Ferrari before her, even Gu Wanqing, who wasn’t particularly interested in cars, couldn’t suppress her curiosity. She got out of the car, walked around it in a circle to inspect it closely, and marveled, "Lin Shen, is this your Ferrari?"
"Yeah."
"How much did you buy it for?"
"Around four million."
Lin Shen’s tone was as casual as if he were talking about buying a cheap knick-knack for a few hundred bucks. His nonchalant demeanor filled Gu Wanqing with curiosity.
She remembered that at first, Lin Shen was just an ordinary office worker. How did he suddenly transform into a wealthy heir after breaking up with her older sister?
Was Lin Shen hiding his true identity? Or did he really figure out a way to make tens of millions in just a few short months?
That was highly unlikely! Even someone like Gu Wanqing, who knew little about finance, understood that to make money, one needed starting capital to multiply. An ordinary person with no capital would find it almost impossible to turn their life around in such a short period. Even if it were gambling, one couldn’t possibly win tens of millions in just a few months!
Looking at it this way, there was only one explanation. Lin Shen was rich all along, and they just hadn’t known it.
Then why did he pretend to be an ordinary person before? Did he want to find a genuine, ordinary relationship? Did he want to avoid people dating him just for his family background?
Her sister was really something else. To actually let such a great opportunity slip through her fingers.
But fortunately, she hadn’t grasped it, leaving the opportunity to her instead. Although thinking this way made her feel a bit sorry for her sister, Gu Wanqing was very glad. She was glad that after Lin Shen broke up with her sister, she could become the next person he looked forward to.
"Do you want me to take you out for a spin?" Seeing Gu Wanqing staring blankly at the Ferrari, Lin Shen smiled and rubbed her head. "The reason I drove the Jaguar instead of the Ferrari was mainly because I was afraid of rumors spreading about you at school."
"I’m not blaming you for not picking me up in the Ferrari!" Gu Wanqing quickly waved her hands, clearing up the misunderstanding, then playfully stuck out her tongue. "I was just thinking about something and zoned out a bit. Let’s head upstairs quickly."
With that said, Gu Wanqing ran to the back of the Jaguar XFL. Once Lin Shen opened the trunk, she took the initiative to grab the groceries they had bought from the supermarket. Lin Shen had originally intended to help her carry them, but she insisted on doing it herself.
However, because the bags were too heavy, she ended up only being able to carry one small bag with both hands. Lin Shen was left to carry the remaining two large bags by himself.
Seeing this, Gu Wanqing tentatively reached out and touched Lin Shen’s robust arm. An inexplicable ripple fluttered through her heart, and an astonishing brilliance flashed in her beautiful eyes. She couldn’t help but marvel, "Lin Shen, your arms feel so thick. Do you work out a lot?"
"Yeah," Lin Shen chuckled. "I could lift you up with just one arm."
"Hmph, I don’t believe you," Gu Wanqing gave a dainty snort. "I weigh a full forty-five kilograms! How could you possibly... Ah!"
Before Gu Wanqing could finish her sentence, Lin Shen unceremoniously set the plastic bags down gently. He then went into a half-squat, wrapped one arm around her beautiful, white-stocking-clad legs, and lifted her right up.
The sudden movement gave Gu Wanqing such a fright that she let out a shriek. She instinctively sat on Lin Shen’s shoulder and tightly wrapped her arms around his neck, her eyes wide with panic.
