Every Sentinel I Dreamed of Came Looking for Me

Chapter 315: Yun Sheng, Have You Fallen for Bai Ye?

Chapter 315: Chapter 315: Yun Sheng, Have You Fallen for Bai Ye?

"He’s from Dark Tide. After I exposed his true identity, he grew desperate and injected himself with two doses of High-concentration Induction Agent, forcibly overdrawing his strength in a last-ditch effort to take me down with him."

As he spoke, he unconsciously ground his foot down harder.

Zhang Qi’s senses had been completely obliterated by the drug. Unable to feel any pain, he writhed and struggled frantically despite being pinned to the floor. Consumed by the sole desire to scramble up and counterattack, he looked thoroughly wretched and deranged.

"As for Lin Yueyao," Si Jin said, his gaze sweeping over the floor as his tone deepened. "She’s already confessed to quite a bit. The implications are far more complex than we anticipated. There are too many eyes and ears around here; it’s not the place to go into details."

Yun Sheng nodded in understanding, casting another glance at Lin Yueyao.

This was the first time she had seen Lin Yueyao looking so disheveled and miserable since returning to the Capital Star. The glamorous, universally adored persona of the past had vanished without a trace; she now lay quietly on the ground, completely devoid of her former radiance.

At that moment, Bai Ye strode into the office. His cold gaze fell upon the frenzied Zhang Qi on the ground, his brows knitting tightly together.

"Knock him out first. I’ll have Luo Cheng come up and handle him."

Si Jin glanced at him and replied, "Yeah, leaving him to Luo Cheng is fine. But what about Lin Yueyao? Should Luo Cheng take her away too? Wouldn’t that be a bit inappropriate?"

After all, Lin Yueyao was Bai Ye’s former fiancée and an S-class Guide. If she were taken away in public while looking this wretched and unconscious...

Once the news spread, it would inevitably spark wild speculations and rumors. It would cause a massive uproar, adding countless unnecessary troubles.

Bai Ye’s eyes darkened slightly as he spoke in an indifferent tone. "It’s fine. I’ll handle her aftermath. You two can just leave for now." He paused before adding a specific warning, "Xing Che is still downstairs. There’s something off about him, so keep an eye out when you go down."

"Understood."

Si Jin agreed readily. He bent down and delivered a swift, clean chop to the back of Zhang Qi’s neck.

The frantically struggling man instantly went limp. Losing consciousness, he finally fell completely silent.

Si Jin slowly withdrew his foot, straightened up, and walked over to Yun Sheng. He took her hand naturally and said gently, "Yun Sheng, let’s head down first."

Yun Sheng nodded slightly, her feet moving in tandem, though her gaze subconsciously drifted toward Bai Ye.

It wasn’t long ago that she had finally recognized and confirmed her feelings for him. She hadn’t even had the time to sort through them properly, much less the chance to share a single heartfelt word with him.

In the blink of an eye, a flurry of events had erupted one after another, twisting into a tangled web of complications. She didn’t even need to think to know that Bai Ye would be swamped with cleaning up these messes; he wouldn’t have a moment of free time for quite a while.

As she was lost in thought, Bai Ye lifted his eyes to look at her.

His gaze first swept lightly over Yun Sheng and Si Jin’s clasped hands, darkening for a fleeting second. Then, he looked up at Yun Sheng and spoke in a very gentle tone.

"I’ll message you. No matter what happens, reach out to me anytime. I’ll reply the moment I see it."

"Okay," Yun Sheng replied softly.

She then turned and followed Si Jin out of the office. Although her body was moving forward down the corridor, her mind was left far behind. She seemed completely absent-minded.

Her thoughts kept looping back to the look in Bai Ye’s eyes and his gentle words of instruction, causing her footsteps to slow unconsciously.

Holding her hand all the while, Si Jin had been paying close attention to her and naturally noticed her distraction. He didn’t say a word, only giving their joined hands a sudden, gentle shake.

Snapping back to reality, Yun Sheng blinked in surprise and instinctively looked up at the man beside her.

By now, Si Jin’s face had reverted to Lin Mo’s appearance. He looked down at her and, before she could even react, cupped the back of her neck and leaned in for a kiss.

The kiss came out of nowhere, yet it was steeped in unadulterated possessiveness. He ground his lips against hers lightly—gentle, but undeniably dominant.

The dense, intricate sensation wrapped around her in layers, carrying Si Jin’s unique scent and slowly throwing her breathing into disarray. The corridor was quiet and empty, completely free of any ambient noise. The only sounds remaining were their intertwined breaths and her increasingly erratic heartbeat.

It felt like an eternity before Si Jin finally pulled back a fraction, resting his forehead gently against hers.

She was still thoroughly dazed. Her breathing was unsteady, her cheeks were burning, and her gaze remained somewhat unfocused.

Just then, Si Jin’s deep, slightly hoarse voice sounded from above her. It was gentle, yet tinged with a hint of fragmented melancholy. "Yun Sheng, you’ve... fallen for him, haven’t you?"

A tingling numbness and slight swelling still lingered on Yun Sheng’s lips from the lingering kiss. The warm afterglow clung stubbornly to her mouth, and her heart pounded wildly against her ribs.

But the moment she heard his question, her entire body stiffened. The heat that had flushed through her veins instantly receded, leaving her limbs feeling rigid.

"I..."

She opened her mouth, her voice hesitant and panicked, completely unsure of how to respond.

Admitting it felt wrong, but denying it wasn’t right either. A tangle of conflicting emotions lodged in her throat, rendering her unable to form a single coherent word.

Just as Yun Sheng, utterly at a loss, was about to lower her head and look away, Si Jin suddenly raised both hands and gently cradled her cheeks.

The soothing warmth of his palms and his soft yet firm grip held her in place. She had no choice but to look up and meet his deep, inescapable gaze.

"There’s no need to be nervous."

Si Jin’s gaze was overwhelmingly tender, and his tone was exceptionally mild and patient. Without a trace of interrogation or blame, there was only boundless, open acceptance.

"To be honest, I’ve been mentally prepared for this. I knew this day would come eventually."

A faint helplessness was hidden in the depths of his eyes, yet he continued to gaze warmly at her flustered expression.

Yun Sheng instinctively tried to lower her eyes to escape such an intensely earnest look, but with her cheeks held securely in his hands, she couldn’t move an inch.

"Bai Ye likes you. He cares about you," Si Jin said softly and slowly, his words carrying a profound clarity. "He’s broken a lot of his own rules for you. He even broke off his engagement with Lin Yueyao and stood by your side to protect you without a second thought...

"Yun Sheng, it’s only natural that you would fall for him. Don’t feel like you’ve wronged me just because you like him. You don’t need to carry that kind of guilt."

Hearing those words, Yun Sheng’s nose stung sharply. A thin veil of redness instantly washed over her eyes as a warm, achy sensation welled up within her.

Si Jin was truly too good. He was gentle and accommodating; he never pushed her or blamed her, only ever yielding to her wishes and protecting her at every turn.

She had been so certain in the beginning. She had only wanted to be with him properly—to have him and no one else.

Yet along the way, Bai Ye’s silent guardianship and his genuine devotion had still managed to inch their way into her heart, throwing all her resolve into disarray.

Watching her reddening eyes, Si Jin’s own gaze melted entirely.

"Yun Sheng, it’s normal for a guide to be compatible with multiple Sentinels. It’s something we can all accept. As long as the person you choose treats you and protects you with all his heart, I will never object."

His tone was candid, laced with a sliver of genuine selfishness. "Of course, I still can’t help but get jealous and envious. But those are my own emotions. They have nothing to do with you; it’s a matter for us to settle among ourselves, so you don’t need to agonize over it."

Looking at Si Jin, Yun Sheng couldn’t hold back any longer. She pitched forward and threw her arms tightly around him.

Burying her face in his shoulder, her voice was soft, hoarse, and noticeably choked with tears. "Why are you so good to me...? How can you be this good!"

Si Jin’s body stiffened for a fraction of a second before he let out a low, soft chuckle, so tender that one couldn’t help but be captivated by it.

He raised a hand and gently tapped her forehead. "You’re not allowed to friend-zone me with the ’nice guy’ card, though. I’m no saint! Besides, whether it’s Bai Ye or anyone else, anyone who wants to be your Sentinel and stay by your side has to get past me first!"
