Chapter 251: Entering the Dream: Why Is There Another Strange Man?
Chapter 251: Chapter 251: Entering the Dream: Why Is There Another Strange Man?
"Yun Sheng’s spiritual power levels have temporarily stabilized. Will they spiral out of control and erupt again later?"
Si Jin’s thin lips tightened. A deep worry clouded his eyes as he pressed for an answer.
Hearing this, Bai Ye’s brows furrowed again. His tone was exceptionally grave. "It’s hard to say."
He lightly tapped the layered, intersecting data on the screen and continued his explanation. "Yun Sheng’s spiritual power is too unique. In the future, whenever her spiritual power merges with another’s, it will continue to absorb... foreign spiritual power. The underlying danger will always be there. She’s at constant risk of another overload and collapse at any moment."
Xing Che suddenly cut in. "Then what do we do? Isn’t there any other way to solve this?"
Bai Ye said, "I have a friend who might be able to help."
"Who?" Si Jin asked immediately.
"Mo Chen."
Bai Ye slowly uttered the name.
"He is a special-grade chief researcher at the Central Star Domain High-level Biological Spirit Research Institute. He specializes in spiritual power and is the top expert in this field in the entire Star Domain."
"We’re close personal friends, so even if he detects how unusual Yun Sheng’s spiritual power is during the examination, he’ll be absolutely tight-lipped and won’t leak a single detail. If we have him personally conduct a comprehensive examination of Yun Sheng, he might have a way to solve this problem."
As he finished speaking, silence fell over the room.
Si Jin lowered his gaze to the sleeping Yun Sheng inside the diagnostic pod, his eyes exceptionally dark.
The thought that Yun Sheng had absorbed too much foreign, rampaging spiritual power and nearly suffered a mental collapse just to guide them made his chest tighten.
Since Mo Chen was the top expert in this field, getting a professional involved was undoubtedly the best choice right now.
He didn’t hesitate. "Alright," he nodded. "Please arrange it once we get to the Capital Star."
"I’ll contact him right away. Si Jin, what happened to Yun Sheng isn’t your responsibility alone."
Bai Ye looked up at Si Jin, his gaze heavy.
The look in his eyes conveyed a clear message: even if Si Jin hadn’t asked, he would have arranged everything.
Xing Che, standing to the side, said bluntly, "When we get to the Capital Star, I’m going too. I want to be with Shengsheng."
’Anything concerning Yun Sheng, I have to be a part of!’
Bai Ye glanced sideways at him, his expression unreadable, but he didn’t refuse.
He knew that Xing Che’s obsession with Yun Sheng couldn’t be stopped.
Si Jin, however, never looked up, not even sparing Xing Che a glance, which served as a tacit agreement.
A moment later, Bai Ye turned and walked to a corner, took out his terminal, and placed a call to Mo Chen.
Si Jin and Xing Che stood guard on either side of the diagnostic pod, quietly watching the sleeping figure, waiting for her to awaken from her coma.
...
Yun Sheng’s consciousness felt as if it were being pulled by an invisible force, sinking deep into a familiar void.
Below her feet, a grayish-white mist flowed and swirled, stretching boundlessly into the distance.
The surroundings were terrifyingly quiet; even the sound of her breathing seemed to be swallowed by the void.
She stood alone in the gray mist, her brows slightly furrowed as she instinctively looked around.
Just then, the mist before her began to churn as if disturbed. Deep within the haze, a blurry figure flickered in and out of view.
A stir in her heart, Yun Sheng almost unconsciously lifted her feet and walked briskly toward the figure, a trace of urgency and hope flashing in her eyes.
As the distance closed, the figure’s silhouette became clearer—broad shoulders, a sharp physique—but there was nothing familiar about him.
She instinctively stopped, the urgency in her eyes fading, replaced by a sense of confusion and hesitation.
In the moment Yun Sheng was stunned into a daze, the man in front of her seemed to sense the movement behind him. The air around him tightened, and he abruptly turned, his sharp, Falcon-like gaze landing directly on her.
He was a man of about twenty-seven or twenty-eight with handsome, refined features. A pair of thin-framed silver glasses rested on the bridge of his nose. The lenses reflected the faint light of the mist, concealing a hint of weariness in his eyes, leaving only a trace of annoyance at having his thoughts interrupted.
Yun Sheng stared at the completely unfamiliar face before her, a flash of astonishment crossing her eyes.
’How could another stranger appear in the dream world?!’
The man opposite her, however, had a far more intense reaction.
His gaze fell on Yun Sheng, but it was as if he was looking through a thick haze. No matter how hard he focused, he couldn’t make out her features, only able to grasp a vague outline.
This strange inability to see her clearly instantly dispelled the lingering annoyance in his eyes, instead igniting an innate desire to investigate the unknown.
He instinctively leaned forward, his eyes behind the silver-framed lenses narrowing slightly. His voice carried a tone of serious inquiry.
"Who are you? Why can’t I see you clearly?"
Yun Sheng was taken aback by his blunt and peculiar reaction. She took an unconscious step back, and seeing the almost obsessive focus in his eyes, she was momentarily at a loss for how to respond.
Seeing her silence, the man’s brow furrowed even more deeply.
He took two quick steps forward, closing in on Yun Sheng almost instinctively, wanting to see if getting closer would allow him to see her face.
The eyes behind his lenses stared at her unblinking. It wasn’t the way one looks at a person, but more like how one examines a puzzle that needs to be solved.
Startled by his sudden approach, Yun Sheng took another step back.
"Wh-what are you doing?" Her voice was a little strained.
"You haven’t answered my questions," the man continued. "Who are you? Why can’t I see you clearly? Where is this place? And why am I here?"
He fired off a string of questions, his curiosity practically boiling over.
Yun Sheng didn’t know him at all, so there was no way she would tell him who she was.
Before, when she encountered Si Jin and the others in her dreams, she would proactively approach them because she needed their power.
But now, her spiritual power had solidified considerably. She already had Si Jin, one Sentinel, plus Xing Che and Bai Ye who clung to her relentlessly. She had no desire to get involved with another Sentinel.
She watched the man before her warily, a hint of guardedness in her eyes. She deliberately feigned innocence and shrugged.
"I don’t know. I just fell asleep, and I have no idea how I got here either."
Yun Sheng thought that would be enough to fool him, but the man had no intention of giving up.
His gaze remained fixed on her face, as if analyzing the truthfulness of her last statement.
"You don’t know?" he repeated, his tone laced with skepticism. "When you walked over just now, your steps were quick, as if you were in a hurry. But you stopped as soon as you got close. After I turned around and you saw me, you immediately backed away... If I’m not mistaken, when you first saw me, you thought I was someone you knew, right?"
Yun Sheng’s heart skipped a beat.
’This guy’s powers of observation are way too sharp!’
She pursed her lips and said nothing.
Seeing her silence didn’t annoy him. He simply pushed the silver-framed glasses up the bridge of his nose, his eyes behind the lenses looking even sharper.
"Interesting. Is this considered dream-sharing? Only a very small number of guides with special spiritual power can do this. And usually, they can only establish a connection with a Sentinel whose spiritual power is a high match."
He paused, his gaze falling on Yun Sheng, an unreadable light flickering in his eyes.
"In that case, it seems our spiritual power compatibility... is extremely high."
