Every Sentinel I Dreamed of Came Looking for Me

Chapter 243: Bai Ye, Let Go of Me

Chapter 243: Chapter 243: Bai Ye, Let Go of Me

"These gray-robed men are even crazier than the ones we met before." Xing Che narrowed his eyes, his tone uncharacteristically grave.

Si Jin didn’t reply. He just subtly moved Yun Sheng behind him.

Bai Ye drew the long blade from his waist in a reverse grip. A cold glint settled on its edge as he said in a low voice, "Let’s end this quickly."

Before the words had even faded, his figure shot out like an arrow loosed from a bow.

In a flash of his blade, two gray-robed men fell before they could even react.

Si Jin didn’t rush forward. Instead, he turned slightly to get closer to Yun Sheng.

A faint blue light flashed from his palm, and a palm-sized Abyssal Giant Wolf materialized out of thin air.

The moment it appeared, before it could even fully stabilize itself, Si Jin swiftly stuffed it into Yun Sheng’s pocket.

He did it stealthily, the whole process taking only a few seconds, but Xing Che’s gaze had been glued to them the entire time. Seeing this, his eyes couldn’t help but narrow again.

The next second, a silvery-gray shadow materialized by Yun Sheng’s feet.

The fluffy little thing tilted its head up, its sparkling eyes glancing at Yun Sheng before it nuzzled against her calf.

Si Jin caught sight of Xing Che copying his actions and let out a soft huff. Without further delay, he pushed off the ground and charged out as well, heading straight for the gray-robed men near Bai Ye.

Xing Che pouted and shot a look at his spiritual body. The meaning was clear: ’Watch her. Don’t let Shengsheng get hurt.’

Then he, too, dashed out. His speed was astonishing, and wherever he passed, gray-robed men fell one after another.

The sounds of battle raged around them, but Yun Sheng had no time to pay attention.

She looked down at the little wolf peeking its head out of her pocket and gently stroked its head.

The little wolf, soothed by her touch, let out a low purr from its throat, its deep blue eyes squinting into a thin line.

Yun Sheng gently lifted it from her pocket and cradled it in her palm, carefully examining its injuries.

It had stayed behind alone to hold off those frenzied gray-robed men so she could escape with Xing Che, and she had been worried ever since.

Now, seeing with her own eyes that the little wolf only had a few shallow scratches that had already scabbed over, she could finally breathe a sigh of complete relief.

She lowered her head and gave the little wolf’s fluffy head a gentle kiss, her voice soft and light. "I’m just glad you’re okay."

The kiss made the little wolf’s ears twitch. Its entire body stiffened for a moment, then it began to nuzzle its head insistently into her palm, its tail wagging like a tiny pinwheel.

The Mili crouched by Yun Sheng’s feet, watching this scene with its head tilted up, its sparkling eyes filled with dissatisfaction.

It let out a "CHIRP!" Seeing that Yun Sheng was ignoring it, it chirped again, but she still paid it no mind.

It grew anxious and bit the leg of her pants, tugging gently. Its big, fluffy tail swept back and forth against her ankle, desperately trying to get her attention.

Yun Sheng glanced down at it and couldn’t help but smile. She squatted down and stroked its head with her other hand.

The Mili’s eyes narrowed in pleasure at her touch. It let out a contented purr, its tail wrapping around her ankle, refusing to let go.

As Yun Sheng soothed the two spiritual bodies, their fluffy warmth washed away much of the tension and fatigue that had built up over the past few days.

She stood up, placed the little wolf back in her pocket, and patted the Mili’s head. "Alright, you two be good," she whispered. "I’m going to help, too."

The little wolf poked its head out of her pocket, its deep blue eyes warily scanning the surroundings.

The Mili flicked its tail and crouched by her feet like a small, fluffy guardian.

Yun Sheng took a deep breath. Her spiritual power quickly solidified into several thin needles, and she, too, charged forward.

Her speed was much faster than before. She weaved between the gray-robed men, firing thin needles from her fingertips one after another, aiming for their spiritual landscapes or other vital points on their bodies.

A gray-robed man lunged at Luo Cheng from the side, but one of her thin needles pierced his knee, causing him to falter. Luo Cheng capitalized on the opening, cutting him down with a backhanded slash that sent him flying.

Her movements were clean and efficient, without a single wasted motion. Although her attacks lacked the destructive power of Si Jin and the others, each strike perfectly filled the gaps on the battlefield.

Si Jin, Xing Che, and Bai Ye unleashed their full spiritual power, creating an overwhelming force that practically divided the battlefield into three sections.

An immense spiritual power surged around Si Jin, transforming into countless, incomparably sharp blades of light that swept out in a devastating wave.

Wherever they passed, the gray-robed men fell one after another, not even having time to scream.

Xing Che’s movements were as fast as a phantom’s. He weaved wantonly through the gray-robed men, who were violently sent flying one by one by his spiritual power, crashing heavily to the ground, motionless.

Bai Ye’s bladework was steady and ruthless. Every slash was aimed at a vital point—clean, efficient, with not an ounce of wasted effort.

Though the three exchanged no glances, their coordination was seamless, as if they had fought side-by-side a thousand times. They relentlessly suppressed the frantically counter-attacking gray-robed men, defeating them one by one.

In the heat of battle, a gray-robed man seized an opening as Bai Ye swung his blade and lunged forward.

With a quick eye and a swift hand, Yun Sheng sent a spiritual power thin needle whistling through the air, accurately piercing both of his eyes.

The man let out a blood-curdling scream, his movements freezing abruptly.

Bai Ye finished him with a clean backhanded slash, sending him flying.

He cast a brief glance at Yun Sheng out of the corner of his eye. He didn’t speak, but the speed of his blade quickened.

Yun Sheng didn’t look back, focusing on firing off wave after wave of thin needles.

Tiny beads of sweat formed on her forehead, and her fingertips trembled slightly, but she never stopped.

In just a few breaths, the last gray-robed man fell with a thud.

The forest suddenly fell silent, leaving only the ground covered in black blood and scattered corpses.

Yun Sheng panted softly. Her fingers were still trembling slightly, but her back was ramrod straight.

’I did it. This time, I was actually helpful.’

But in the instant her guard relaxed, the unexpected happened.

One of the downed gray-robed men suddenly sprang up, clutching a thin tube that gave off a faint glow. He lunged madly, aiming for the back of Yun Sheng’s neck!

"Watch out!"

Yun Sheng reacted instantly, twisting to dodge. But she moved back too sharply, lost her footing, and stumbled right into a solid, cool embrace.

The next second, a powerful gust of wind erupted.

Si Jin’s eyes darkened. His figure flashed into view, and he kicked the gray-robed man viciously in the chest.

"THUD!"

The gray-robed man slammed into a tree trunk like a ragdoll, spat up blood, and passed out on the spot. The poison tube in his hand rolled to the side.

Yun Sheng was still shaken, her breathing rapid and heavy, her chest heaving.

She instinctively tried to pull away from Bai Ye’s embrace. She had barely moved when he grabbed her by the wrist.

His grip wasn’t too tight or too loose, but it was firm, and she couldn’t break free.

Yun Sheng froze for a moment, then looked up into Bai Ye’s dark, somber eyes.

Complex emotions swirled within them—lingering fear, restraint, and something else she couldn’t understand, something scorching hot.

"Are you okay?" His voice was terribly hoarse.

Yun Sheng shook her head and lowered her gaze, avoiding his eyes.

She could clearly feel Bai Ye’s fingers tighten slightly around her wrist, the pads of his fingers pressing against her rapidly fluttering pulse.

It was fast and heavy, a frantic drumming that made her heart race with panic.

The tips of Yun Sheng’s ears instantly started to burn, hot and tingling.

She tried to pull her hand back forcefully, but Bai Ye’s grip was incredibly steady; he didn’t loosen it in the slightest.

"Bai Ye, let go of me." Her voice was tight, laced with a flustered insistence.
