Every Sentinel I Dreamed of Came Looking for Me

Chapter 238: Inexplicable Unease: Bai Ye Wants to Capture Si Jin

Chapter 238: Chapter 238: Inexplicable Unease: Bai Ye Wants to Capture Si Jin

Xing Che shot forward in an instant.

His spiritual power erupted from him, and a powerful, almost tangible pressure spread out in all directions. The low-level pollutants were stunned, their movements freezing as if they’d been fixed in place.

Ordinarily, they probably would have scattered and fled the moment they sensed Xing Che’s aura.

But right now, influenced by the strange odor permeating the air, they were in an abnormal state of frenzy. Having long since lost their minds, they were only stunned for a moment before they shrieked and charged at the students again.

Xing Che plunged directly into the horde of pollutants. His speed was astonishing. Wherever he passed, pollutants fell one after another.

Black blood splattered, nearly obscuring his figure.

Watching him charge into that dense, black mass of pollutants, Yun Sheng couldn’t hide the worry on her face. Her fingers unconsciously tightened around the corner of Si Jin’s shirt.

Si Jin glanced down at her and gently patted the back of her hand. His tone was light, tinged with a casual certainty.

"Don’t worry. He’s more than enough to handle them on his own."

If an SSS-level Sentinel couldn’t even deal with these low-level pollutants, that would be a true embarrassment.

Sure enough, in less than a moment, the last pollutant fell under Xing Che’s blade.

The shrieking in the woods finally stopped, leaving only the ground stained with black blood and the corpses of pollutants strewn about haphazardly.

The surviving students collapsed to the ground one by one, gasping for breath. Some clutched wounds on their arms, others leaned against tree trunks with their eyes closed, and a few couldn’t help but start crying.

Yun Sheng hurried over to Li Wen and Cheng Nian, crouching down to check their injuries.

The cut on Li Wen’s left arm was still seeping blood. Yun Sheng frowned, pushing up her sleeve to examine the wound.

It wasn’t deep, but it was long. It needed to be treated immediately.

Yun Sheng quickly took out her portable first-aid kit and bent down to bandage Li Wen’s arm, her movements swift and steady.

"Are you hurt anywhere else?" she asked without looking up.

Li Wen shook her head. "No, just my arm."

After bandaging Li Wen’s arm, Yun Sheng turned to Cheng Nian and looked her up and down.

Cheng Nian was covered in filth, her hair was a mess, and her face was smeared with black blood and dirt, but she didn’t seem to have any obvious injuries.

"What about you? Are you hurt?"

Cheng Nian shook her head, her eyes red and her voice trembling. "I’m fine. Just... just a little tired."

Yun Sheng examined her carefully, and only after confirming she was mostly unharmed did she breathe a sigh of relief.

Then, she stood up and walked toward Zhou Ying and He Yi.

The two of them were leaning against a large, broken tree, tending to their own wounds.

The wound on Zhou Ying’s side had already been wrapped layer by layer with bandages. Though some blood was still seeping through, her complexion had improved a little.

He Yi couldn’t put any strength into his left leg. He was gritting his teeth, carefully using a knife to cut open his pant leg, revealing a bruised and swollen calf underneath.

Yun Sheng went to Zhou Ying first, took the bandage from her hand, and helped her tighten the loose parts.

Zhou Ying thanked her. Yun Sheng nodded and turned to He Yi.

He Yi’s leg injury was rather serious. Although the bone wasn’t broken, it was a bad sprain. His calf was severely swollen and needed to be immobilized.

She pulled two splints from her first-aid kit, skillfully strapped them to his leg, and then wrapped it with several layers of bandages to secure it firmly.

He Yi’s forehead was beaded with sweat from the pain, but he bit his lip and didn’t make a sound. Only after Yun Sheng finished did he say in a low voice, "Thanks."

"Of course."

Once everything was taken care of, Yun Sheng stood up, scanned her surroundings, and suddenly asked, "Where are Brother Guo and Brother Ma?"

Cheng Nian’s face fell. She said in a low voice, "We were still following them when the ground collapsed earlier. But then more and more areas caved in, and so many pollutants rushed out that we were scattered... We haven’t seen them since then. We don’t know where they are..."

Just then, He Yi took a breath and said hoarsely, "They should be on higher ground. A student fell into a fissure when it collapsed, and Brother Guo rushed over to save them. Brother Ma went too... I was tied up with a pollutant at the time, so I didn’t see what happened after that..."

His brow was tightly furrowed, his eyes filled with regret.

"They should be... they should be fine. Brother Guo is an A-level Sentinel now, and he and Brother Ma work together seamlessly..."

Hearing this, Yun Sheng felt a strange sense of unease, but she didn’t let it show on her face and simply nodded.

"Right. With Brother Guo and Brother Ma’s strength, they’ll definitely be fine!"

Then, she turned back to Si Jin and Xing Che. "I want to go look for them..."

Si Jin grunted in agreement. His gaze swept over the students sitting collapsed on the ground, all covered in injuries. "Let’s get these people settled first," he said. "Contact Bai Ye and have him send people to protect them. There are still rampaging pollutants in the woods, not to mention the people in gray hiding somewhere. If we just leave, another group of pollutants might come and attack them."

"Okay, I’ll contact him right away."

The signal had been blocked before, rendering her terminal completely useless. But now that Bai Ye had arrived with his people, the signal might have been restored.

With that thought, Yun Sheng took out her terminal. But before she could even try to contact Bai Ye, the screen lit up.

A video call was coming in. It was from the account "White Tiger F-1."

She froze for a second, her finger hesitating before she quickly pressed the answer key.

Bai Ye’s face soon appeared on the terminal screen.

He was in a flight pod, and the cold white light made the grave expression on his face even more pronounced.

He spoke quickly, with an indescribable urgency. "Where are you now? Si... Lin Mo, is he with you? I’ve discovered something. Can you bring him to me right away?"

Yun Sheng heard the slight pause in Bai Ye’s words.

He had almost said "Si Jin" but caught himself just in time, using the fake name Si Jin had adopted for his disguise.

’What did he discover, though? Could it have something to do with Si Jin? Why else would he be in such a hurry for me to bring Si Jin over?!’

She instinctively looked up at Si Jin, seeking his opinion.

Si Jin was standing right next to Yun Sheng, so he had naturally heard what Bai Ye just said.

The corner of his eyebrow twitched slightly. He was silent for a few seconds before nodding at her.

"Alright, we’ll come over right away," Yun Sheng said to Bai Ye on the screen. "But we just rescued some students. You should send people to protect them."

"Okay. Send me your location, and I’ll send someone immediately."

The video call ended. Yun Sheng clutched her terminal, rubbing it unconsciously as an indescribable unease welled up inside her.

She looked at Si Jin, instinctively leaning closer and lowering her voice. "Should we really go? You’re a wanted criminal of the Star Alliance, and Bai Ye has always wanted to capture you. What if he’s just saying this to trick us into going there so he can arrest you?"

Although the thought was a bit absurd—if Bai Ye wanted to capture Si Jin, he could have made his move just now—that inexplicable unease still made Yun Sheng’s heart race. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something bad was about to happen!
