Chapter 3914: Sword Battle

Chapter 3914: Sword Battle

Alex attacked the moment the battle started.

Simultaneously, the man in the golden robe attacked as well.

Both of their attacks were a test for each other, but not the kind meant to see how strong the other was. Rather, it was to see how they would react to the attack.

The man in the golden robe had been the one to tell Alex not to bother with a simple attack at the very start, and he had taken his own advice quite seriously, it seemed.

Two sword slashes flew across the arena and struck at the center, sending out an explosive shockwave that ended at the barrier. Alex was pushed a step back, and the same went for his enemy.

"Not bad!" the man in the golden robe said with a smirk on his face. "But that will not be enough for you to win this fight."

Alex smiled. "Let’s test your theory, senior."

His speed suddenly grew as he threw out multiple sword slashes, each one containing strong Sword Aura within it. The man was somewhat taken aback by Alex’s speed, but he responded in kind, attacking quickly.

As a Divine realm cultivator, it was no surprise that his speed and strength would be higher than Alex’s, but it seemed that, in regard to his sword skills, that was not the case at all.

He still couldn’t figure out how Alex’s sword skills were so strong, but all he really cared about at the moment was that Alex wasn’t breaking any rules. Which meant the man needed to do nothing but focus his attention on the battle, and hopefully, he would win in the end.

They continued for several rounds of back-and-forth attacks, with explosions sounding like fireworks as they clashed one after another. At that point, both Alex and the man in the golden robe were certain that they were evenly matched.

The only thing that could decide who won was either their endurance or a single mistake.

Both understood that they could endure for much longer, but it was hard to make the same judgment about a mistake.

No one wanted to make one.

It just happened.

The man in the golden robe did not want to make that mistake.

"I was planning to wait until I was further along in the battle, but I’m afraid you have forced me to use it so soon," the man said.

Alex’s eyes narrowed as he watched, suddenly realizing what was happening. A faint smile appeared on his face as he understood what the man was about to do.

Sword Qi flared around the man, appearing all around him in an instant. It surrounded him, spinning around as sharp, sword-shaped light that could cut anything that entered its range.

The man revealed his Sword Domain.

"As Graham’s son, this will be my greatest showing of respect for you," the man said, grinning from ear to ear.

Alex smiled as well. "Well, in that case, I shall show my respect to you too, senior. For you are one of my father’s few friends."

The man held a confused look for a moment before light exploded out of Alex, forming a Sword Domain as well.

Unlike his opponent’s, Alex’s Sword Domain appeared much denser in general, though its range was slightly smaller.

The man looked confused for a second. "Huh? How... how can you..."

"Let us not get caught up on what we can do, senior. We still have a battle to finish."

The man took a deep breath and nodded, his eyes narrowing as he prepared for what would happen next.

With a Sword Domain and nothing else to aid them, there was only one way to continue the fight.

Both Alex and the man dashed forward, entering each other’s ranges immediately.

The Sword Domain around the man converged ahead of him, trying to strike Alex before he could get closer. Alex’s Sword Domain converged at the front as well, blocking the man’s Sword Domain.

As Alex got closer, the man’s Sword Domain expanded, trying to catch him from elsewhere. Alex’s Sword Domain quickly moved, locating each position he was attacked from on its own.

At the same time, a portion of it moved toward the man now that he was in range.

The man attacked with his sword, quickly deflecting the cluster of Sword Qi that scattered back before immediately coming at him again.

The man pulled his own Sword Domain back, using it for defense, while he attacked Alex with a close-range sword slash.

They were not allowed to attack each other with their actual weapons, so it would have to be an attack from range, even though that range was practically 0.

Alex swung his sword before the attack even came, destroying it just as it left the man’s sword. A massive explosion pushed both Alex and the man backward, though they quickly recovered.

Neither moved, as neither could decide exactly how to win against the other.

Alex didn’t exactly want to reveal anything more than his Sword Domain, so things became slightly difficult. However, given how evenly matched the two of them were, he believed he would have to reveal something at least.

He smiled at the man before him.

"Congratulations, senior. For pushing me this far."

The man hardly had any time to even guess what Alex was alluding to when Alex dashed right back toward him.

Both men expanded their Sword Domains once again, using them to attack each other’s Sword Domains.

At the same time, the man raised his sword sideways, ready to attack.

Alex landed before him in a stance as well, ready to strike.

Just before he struck out, however, Sword Qi filled his sword, causing it to glow brightly. At the same time, the Sword Qi extended before him, making it look as though the sword had suddenly grown 3 times longer.

Both swung at the same time, but since Alex’s attack didn’t have to cross any distance at all, his attack landed on the man before the man could release his own.

As such, Alex got the hit in first.
