Chapter 3900: Training with Nightslayer

Chapter 3900: Training with Nightslayer

Alex looked at the man before him once again, though this time in an entirely new light.

Although not in name, the man before him was Bladedance’s disciple as well. He couldn’t be sure how much he had been taught by her, but to be taught even a little by the Sword God meant he was greatly talented.

"I see," he told the man. "She never told me much about anyone she trained before me."

"Well, she didn’t properly train me, so that’s why she doesn’t consider me a disciple," Swiftslash said. "I, for one, very much consider her a master. The only reason I don’t say it is out of respect for her."

"I see," Alex said. "Then I’m very honored to be training with a senior disciple brother of mine."

Swiftslash’s lips turned into a big grin, and he rubbed his nose a little. "You know, I’ve heard a few things about you, but those must all be false."

"Are you two gonna keep talking or what? Train!" Bladedance shouted.

"Right," Swiftslash said. "Prepare yourself. I’m attacking again."

Alex nodded, ready for the attack. This time, he used his Demon Eyes to the fullest, ready to see what the man did.

Before the man even attacked, a green aura swirled around him, surrounding his sword. At the same time, Sword Qi surrounded his sword as well. As Alex prepared to receive the attack, he saw something that happened so quickly that, had he not been looking at it, he would’ve completely missed it.

The Sword Qi grew in length, suddenly becoming so long that it covered the distance between the two of them in an instant. At the same time, the green aura around the sword flared, and the man swung his sword sideways, the movement sped up multiple times over.

Alex tilted his sword at the last moment, making certain that Nightslayer was between him and the attack.

The attack landed on his sword, but it was so strong that he nearly lost his grip on it. He skidded back a few steps, but for the most part, he had blocked it.

Swiftslash raised an eyebrow. "You blocked it, junior brother."

Alex nodded. "Dao of Swiftness, is it?" he asked.

"You recognized it in one glance?" Swiftslash asked. "Frightening."

"I did. Not just that, you have the Sword Heart Breaker technique as well," Alex said. "I was wondering why I didn’t see the sword slash the previous times around. Turns out, there was no projectile."

Those words caused Swiftslash to look even more surprised. "How do you know about that technique?"

"Master taught me," Alex said. "I was assuming she taught you too. Was that not the case?"

"No, that is the case," he said. "But that’s not a technique you learn so quickly. You need to have reached the Sword Heart stage before you can use it."

"Oh, I already did."

Sword Qi covered Alex’s sword in an instant. Before anyone could react to it, the Sword Qi grew out of the sword, becoming longer. Unlike Swiftslash’s, it didn’t grow so much that it crossed half the training ground. Instead, it was only three times as long as Nightslayer.

Still, the sight of that stunned Swiftslash immensely.

"Impossible!" he said, his eyes wide open. "But then that means... you’ve done it. You’ve learned Sword Heart."

"I did," Alex said. "I wish to learn much more."

Swiftslash let out some involuntary laughter. "Incredible. Perhaps this training session won’t be as boring as I initially thought it was going to be."

"Prepare yourself, senior. I’m attacking now."

Alex swung his sword, throwing out a strong sword slash. It was his first time using Nightslayer in a fight, so he chose to start slowly and get a feel for his new sword. He swung a few more times, growing an understanding of the ins and outs of the sword—the weight, the balance, the sharpness. Everything.

As he understood Nightslayer more, he began using techniques alongside it.

Bursting Blaze.

Elusive Heavenly Sword: Third Strike.

Penta-Sword Strike.

Static Slash.

He used minor techniques he hadn’t used in centuries to grow accustomed to the various types of elements and how they worked with Nightslayer. As expected, the sword did not shrink away from anything.

As a sword full of Yang, it considered itself mighty and took in whatever Alex gave it.

So, Alex began adding more and more into it. The techniques improved as he used stronger ones.

The strongest ones were the ones he had made himself.

Endless Severing Strike.

Swiftslash had easily fended off all the other attacks while dishing out some strong attacks of his own to keep Alex on his toes. But this was the first attack that had taken him by surprise.

The attack was fast and strong, but more than anything else, it was impossibly small. To the point that even his Divine sense nearly failed to notice its presence entirely because of its shape. He blocked it quite easily, but he was impressed.

"Your master has taught you an incredible technique," he said with a smile.

"She didn’t," Alex said. "They are my creations. So are the next two."

His sword filled with a bright aura, with the air wavering above it from the heat. Alex swung, leaving a trail of yellow flames behind that flew toward Swiftslash.

True Immolation Strike.

Swiftslash stopped the attack, but he couldn’t hide the surprise from his face. This one was stronger than the last one. It was similar to the previous attack, except this one had powerful Fire attached to it as well.

It had been a while since he had felt this much heat from the Fire attack of an Immortal.

"Last one," Alex said as he prepared his sword for a swing.

As Alex prepared for the attack, Swiftslash frowned slightly. Unlike the second time, he couldn’t exactly tell what the aura was this time around.

Then Alex swung his sword, and the world itself appeared to be cut as the attack made its way toward Swiftslash.

Limitless Void Slash.
