Chapter 3897: Planning Something

Chapter 3897: Planning Something

Alex frowned upon hearing the Sky God’s words. "Why do you think that’s strange?"

The Sky God looked toward Bladedance for a moment, as if considering something, before turning toward Alex.

"Your Energy feels weak. I assume you used your Primordial Energy sometime in the past few years."

"I did. I had to use it to form Qi lines in my sword," Alex said. "Had I not, my sword wouldn’t have been made."

"I see. Then you understand the effects of a loss of Primordial Energy," she said.

Alex’s face turned slightly serious, and he nodded. "It was horrible. For a second, the world seemed to lose all light. It was as if everything that was good in my life had been lost and there was no more reason for me to live at all."

Bladedance’s eyes narrowed with a grim look. "You felt that?"

"Briefly," Alex said quickly. "It was very brief. Just a few seconds, and then I handled myself. But yes, it was a horrible feeling."

The Sky God nodded. "That is the negative effect of using Primordial Energy. It’s like a drug. While we have it, we don’t notice it. But the moment it’s gone, it’s a horrible feeling. That’s why Half Gods tend not to use it unless absolutely necessary."

Bladedance crossed her arms. "How often do you use it?"

"Not often," the Sky God said. "But place yourself in the Fire God’s shoes. You had this drug-like Energy flowing into you all the time in great amounts, and while you had it, you didn’t think much of it. However, suddenly, half the flow is gone. What would you do?"

Bladedance looked around for a second before answering. "I’d try to find out what happened."

"And how would you do that?" Newheaven asked.

"Use the Primordial Energy," Alex answered.

"Exactly. He lost his source and then had to use what he had to try and find out what happened. But he never got any information at all. So he had to use more. And the more he uses, the worse he feels. And now that he’s finally found the source of that terrible feeling, he should be looking forward to getting rid of it right away."

Bladedance finally understood the gist of the issue.

"He’s been looking forward to this for over a century now, and when he finally gets the chance, his first thought is to delay it," she said. "That does, in fact, not make any sense."

"Yes," Newheaven said. "Unless... he’s planning something."

Alex looked toward her. "What could he be planning?"

"I’m not sure," the Sky God said. "But there has to be a reason why he’s delaying this. I just can’t think of why."

Alex thought for a moment. "Could it have something to do with the ones who haven’t arrived yet? He needs something from the ones who will come later."

"Who’s yet to come?" Bladedance asked.

The Sky God considered it for a moment. "We don’t know the status of seven Gods for now. Woodsbane, Scarstone, Orangeruby, ,Quickstorm, Ironheart, and Tidalwave."

"Three Half Gods," Alex said immediately. "Storm God, Golden God, and Ocean God, right?"

The Sky God nodded.

"Maybe it has something to do with them," Alex said. "Storm God especially. Did the Fire God know who I was before he came over?"

"He did," the Sky God said. "Someone told him about you already."

"See? That must’ve been the Storm God," Alex said. "That man has planned something for me. I know it. He won’t be happy leaving me alone, so I can only imagine he’ll try to do something during the duel."

"That’s not possible," Bladedance said. "The duel is sacred. No one can interfere with it except for the people who are in the duel themselves, or those they bring along. Without your approval, the Storm God cannot affect the duel in any way at all."

Alex narrowed his eyes. "He can’t do that even if he just wants to?"

"No. He would have to answer to the rest of the Half Gods if he did that."

If that was the case, then Alex definitely had no idea at all.

"Well, that tells us something we already knew from the start," Bladedance said. "We have to be careful. Which was a given, considering he’s fighting damn Ashmaker."

Newheaven nodded. "Still, be very careful. Do not agree to anything about the duel until you verify every single part of the proposal. You do not want any loopholes to cause you to lose."

Alex nodded. "I will do my best, senior," he said. "But... I worry the fight will be over in a second. I mean... I am going to fight a Half God."

"Not exactly," Newheaven said. "I won’t lie. I do not see you getting out of this without losing, but it also won’t be an instant loss. You’re not fighting to see who is stronger between the two of you. You’re dueling to see who among you deserves to be the God of Fire and Yang. That means showcasing your talent with the two elements and how you are the one worthy of being their master."

Alex thought about it for a bit before slowly nodding.

"If it’s only showing talent and not actually fighting, then I might have a chance at winning too," he said.

"Oh, don’t get me wrong. You will fight him," the Sky God said. "That’s a given. But that is not all that will happen. All I’m saying is, you won’t lose instantly."

Alex let out a dry laugh. "Well, that makes me feel slightly better."

The Sky God held a faint smile. "I have never seen an Immortal duel for the status of a God, let alone a Half God. This will be the first time treading this path for most of us," she said. "But do not worry. We will be with you every step of the way. And regardless of the outcome, we will help you survive."

Alex felt a warm feeling blossom deep inside him.

"Thank you, Sky God. That means a lot to me."
