Chapter 3877: Possible Reasons
Chapter 3877: Possible Reasons
Alex stared at the sword in his hand, still very much excited by the fact that he had finally made his own sword.
Nightslayer.
How long had it been since he had a sword that he could say was truly his own? The last time he had a sword of his own was Midnight, and it had been destroyed before he was even sent to Hell. The period after that had been one when he didn’t have a sword of his own.
He had used his master’s Creation before he understood what it was. And then he had used Godslayer’s body, though that was not his own sword, so it wasn’t as good.
But now, he had done it. He had his sword.
Alex held the sword before him, letting it cool down considerably. As it cooled, he could see the bright yellow color that the metal had taken on, but more than just that, there were also black sections on the sword that he hadn’t noticed beforehand while it had all been glowing.
In interlacing patterns near the hilt of the sword, the Starforged Tungsten that had been Midnight had settled itself onto the sword. Alex had simply refined it without thinking of a shape or pattern while doing it, so he was quite surprised to see it form one.
He wasn’t angry at all.
The rest of the sword was quite normal at a single glance. It wouldn’t be too far-fetched to imagine that people would think his sword was made out of gold or something golden in color. It was a double-edged sword, but it wasn’t as sharp as Alex might’ve expected it to be.
It was by no means dull, but sharp simply wasn’t one of the words he would use to describe the sword.
Though, in the grand scheme of things, it hardly mattered how sharp the sword was, since rarely would one get a chance to fight someone in close combat. Even if such a chance did come up, what he had was more than enough to defeat his enemy.
"That’s a good sword, Master," Ray said from the side. "I can feel the Yang coming from within it."
"Yes, it’s good," Alex said. "It’s a shame that it’s not fully Yang, but I understand that pure Yang cannot exist all on its own."
Ray said nothing and simply nodded.
"Though, I am a little disappointed that there is no Artifact Tribulation," Alex said, looking toward the sky. He couldn’t sense anything because of the barrier, but there was no doubt that Heaven hadn’t responded to the formation of the sword.
Alex frowned slightly, wondering what the problem may have been.
There were a few possibilities that came to his mind, which made it all the more disappointing.
The thing was that an Artifact Tribulation was nearly impossible to form for any and all artifacts in the entire world. There had been fewer than a dozen known such events throughout recorded history. With him already having gained one when Memory formed her proper spirit, he had already made the impossible possible once. The chances that he could do that twice in a row were damn near nonexistent.
Another issue may have been that the Energy within the sword was simply not enough. Alex could not believe how that could be possible, but on the off chance that it was, he kept it in mind.
Another reason that may have caused the lack of an Artifact Tribulation was perhaps the fact that Heaven itself had aided in its formation in a way. With Alex having used his Primordial Energy when creating the Qi lines, Heaven may have considered itself a part of the sword’s creation and thus saw no reason to give it a chance to go through an Artifact Tribulation.
And finally, the actual reason Alex believed to be the real cause for the lack of a tribulation was simply the fact that the sword had already gone through one before.
The Demon-Killing Sword had gone through an Artifact Tribulation when it was first made by Steelmind. And while Alex had refined it enough that he wanted to say the original sword did not exist anymore, the truth of the matter was that if the original sword no longer existed, then the spirit would have been fully rejected by the sword.
The fact that it didn’t fully reject the spirit meant that a part of the sword was still the same as before, and that part had already gone through an Artifact Tribulation. As such, there was simply no way for Alex to make that happen again.
After going through those thoughts in his head, Alex sighed and looked toward Ray.
"Thank you for your help, Ray. If not for you, I would not have been able to do it at all," Alex told the fire spirit.
Ray smiled. "I exist to serve you, Master. Do not hesitate to ask for my help again."
Alex nodded. He took the corpse of the Three-Legged Crow into his Soul Space, immediately feeling the suffocating Energy around the workshop disappear. Then he looked at Ray and sent him back in as well.
The moment Ray left, the barrier around the workshop vanished, leaving behind the initial simple barrier that seemed to strain under all the Energy that still remained inside the workshop.
At this point, though, there was nothing Alex could do about it.
He looked at Nightslayer once again, and all his thoughts and disappointments vanished, replaced by a deep sense of satisfaction. Finally, he brought the Artifact God out, letting her stand before him with her anvil still on the ground below, now half-melted and twisted, carrying a strong Yang aura that it did not have before.
The anvil was certainly ruined, which he hoped she wouldn’t blame him for.
Shen Yaojia’s eyes immediately found their way to Nightslayer the moment she came out. When she saw it, she gasped out loud.
"You did it?" she asked. "You reforged your sword?"
Alex smiled. "Yes, senior. I have finished making my sword."
