Chapter 3796: A Strange Greeting
Chapter 3796: A Strange Greeting
Alex was happy to hear that the Artifact God would be teaching him directly in a few years. It was a little sad that he would have to wait, but the fact that his worries about her rejecting him were now gone was enough. On top of that, he was also fully allowed to keep the sword that belonged to her master.
Alex had skirted the truth a little by not really expressing just how impressive the metal that formed the sword was, but he believed that he was allowed at least that much leeway. If he told her that this metal might just be more impressive than any Primordial body part she could find, then it would have been impossible to keep it.
As he walked out of her courtyard, he considered what it was that he should be doing going forward as well.
’I guess all I can do is cultivate mostly, right?’ Alex thought.
That was the most important thing he could do, after all.
Once outside, Alex wondered where he should go next. Was his master still in cultivation? Or had she left it? Was she free to talk?
He decided he should at least let her know that he was back. So, he pulled out a talisman and was about to bring it up to his forehead when he heard a voice speaking from far away.
"Hey, kid! Dodge this."
Alex barely heard a twang before something struck the ground before him. A spray of dirt and rock shot out from the ground, causing Alex to move back instantly.
His eyes widened as he brought out his sword in panic. What had just happened? Who had attacked him?
He searched around, but he couldn’t see anyone at all. A wetness covered his left cheek just then, so he reached for it and felt a cut that he hadn’t even realized was there.
He looked at his fingers that were now covered in blood.
He did not understand what had just happened.
The dust from the explosion settled enough for Alex to see the center of the small crater. And within it, he found a single red arrow embedded halfway into the ground.
"Arrow?"
Alex remembered the arrow. And thus, he realized who it was that had just shot him.
"Archery God? Is that you?" Alex asked out loud.
The woman’s giggling voice came from far away. Then, a moment later, it arrived from right next to him.
Alex turned around and found the Archery God, Killshot, standing right next to him.
The woman still dressed the same way she always did, with a sleeveless red robe, along with a large yellow sash that went around her waist, and her hair tied in a bun.
Alex bowed the moment he saw her again. "Your Majesty, it is a pleasure to meet you again."
The woman laughed. "I should be the one saying that. You escaped Hell, and then you escaped Storm God’s grasp for several centuries. I am the one who is excited to meet you instead."
Alex smiled a little. "May I ask why you attacked me just now?" he asked. "I might have died."
"Unlikely," the woman said. "I know where my arrow goes. It was never going to kill you."
Alex couldn’t argue that the Archery God had incredible aim. Still, he couldn’t imagine why she had to attack him in the first place. Was this how she greeted everyone?
"Besides, I wanted to check if you still had it or not," the woman said.
"Had what?" Alex asked.
Killshot pointed at his face, and Alex felt it. There was nothing there anymore, which was of no surprise to him.
"The Undying God’s physique," the woman finally said.
"I see," Alex said.
It was good she didn’t want to test more. She might have hit him through the chest to check.
"How have you been, Archery God? I heard you were with my master and Grimsight after I was gone."
The woman’s eyes narrowed. "Who told you that?"
"The Sky God did," Alex said with a blank expression. "Was she wrong?"
"Oh, if she told you, then yeah. I was with them for a while, until I stopped by the Golden Dao Realm to get my bow looked at," she said.
"How are they?" Alex asked. "Do you know where they are now?"
The woman shrugged. "It was nearly 4 centuries ago that I left them in the Dragon Turtle. Last I heard, they were headed to Fiend’s Sanctuary to meet with the Music God. Though I may be wrong about that," she said.
Alex nodded a little. It was enough for him to learn just that.
"Let us not talk here, Senior. Would you like to come to my courtyard? You can meet with my family, and we can talk more about things," Alex said.
The woman, however, shook her head.
"Nah, I don’t feel like talking, really. I just wanted to see the man who escaped from Hell. And now I have. If you want to become target practice for me, then let me know. Otherwise, I will be leaving."
Alex stared at the woman with a blank expression. He couldn’t think of anything to say to make her stop, so he only nodded and let her go. There was no point in keeping her anyway.
"Alright, I’ll see you around," Killshot said and vanished, leaving Alex all alone on the road.
There were several guards farther away who had seen the entire thing, but they were trained to look the other way when gods were involved, so they acted as though they had seen nothing at all.
Alex couldn’t help but chuckle slightly. He looked down at his hand and saw the talisman he still had.
"Right."
He let his master know that he was back, but didn’t get any immediate response. He could only guess that she was deep in cultivation.
He decided he needed to do the same.
So, he returned to his courtyard, where he prepared to enter closed cultivation once again.
