Chapter 3783: Clubstaff
Chapter 3783: Clubstaff
Alex began the fight with a sword strike. It was less of an attack and more of a test to see just how strong his opponent was. As he was, his mental strength placed his attacks at the Divine Creation 9th realm, which was also true for his Sword Intent, whose power was increased through it.
The Divinity had a cultivation base of Divine Creation 6th realm, so depending on what his Battle Power or his various skills were, Alex needed to check if he would struggle against a slightly weaker attack.
Seeing the approaching attack, the man gathered bright metal energy onto his fist and punched forward, which exploded out into a fractal pattern that ended up as a barrier that took on the attack. While the barrier held against Alex’s attack, the man was slightly surprised to feel the strength behind it.
Anything above an Immortal’s strength would have made him raise an eyebrow at that point, so it was no surprise that he reacted to Alex’s current attack.
Deciding to waste no time, he brought out a weapon of his own.
Alex focused on the artifact that was brought out, unlike anything he had ever seen before. It looked somewhere between a club and a staff, with a thin golden rod extending nearly 4 feet in length, while the top of it was made of two large snakes that coiled around themselves until they reached the end, where they looked outward.
The snakes suddenly glowed with the same golden color, and the man simply released a burst of light that flew toward Alex at a speed that no Immortal could have been ready for.
Even Alex would have had difficulty if not for his Demon Eyes that he constantly had active at that very moment.
Alex poured his Sword Intent onto his sword and swung, releasing a powerful attack that struck the incoming attack, destroying it midair. The explosion threw out a shockwave in all directions that blew most of the sand in the region away, leaving thick red rocks behind.
"You really are much stronger than you look," the Divinity said. "Just in case you are capable of something more, I have to do this."
The snakes on his artifact suddenly came alive, slithering their way out of the clubstaff. Both landed next to the man, each with its eyes turned toward Alex.
Alex could see dark purple eyes on one snake, while the other one had bright yellow eyes.
The man pointed the empty staff forward, and the snakes charged toward Alex instantly.
Alex reacted immediately, swinging his sword again right as the snakes came for him. He managed to attack one right before it reached him, diverting its course just enough that it missed him. At the same time, the other snake came for him from behind, leaving Alex no other way to dodge it but to teleport away.
He wasn’t going to let the snakes actually hit him, as his body cultivation was only in the Divine Creation 3rd realm and not nearly strong enough to survive either of these Divine artifact’s attacks.
The man turned toward where Alex reappeared and made the snakes go for him again. At the same time, the man himself rushed forward with the empty clubstaff, swinging it down on Alex.
There was no Weapon Intent in that attack, so at least the man wasn’t used to fighting with this weapon. But that hardly meant much when the man was a Divinity.
Alex swung back with his sword, striking with all his power as the man arrived. To the man’s horror, Alex overpowered him in this one attack as he put out more strength than him, sending him flying backward.
At the same time, Alex expanded the space around him before suddenly distorting it, making it difficult for the snakes to reach him. As soon as he dodged them, Alex moved backward, getting away from the snakes.
However, it didn’t look like he needed to. The snakes had somehow stopped targeting him for a moment there, long enough that even without Alex doing anything, he could have dodged them entirely.
Alex frowned for a moment, trying to find the reason why that had happened, when he looked at the Divinity and saw him at a distance, holding his head with a slightly pained expression.
Alex had hit hard, but the attack shouldn’t have reached his head. If it was mental pain, then that was even more impossible. For the sake of saving his Spiritual energy, he hadn’t used his Spiritual Providence technique on his sword. There was no spiritual aspect to his attack as a result.
So, for that to have dealt mental damage to the man somehow, Alex could only wonder what he was missing. Just then, his eyes looked down at the snakes, which, despite being made of metal, looked so very alive.
They turned toward him, just as the man himself turned to look at him as well.
Alex looked at the man and then down at the snakes. He realized the truth right away.
’That’s not a regular artifact,’ he understood. ’That’s his Creation.’
Alex hadn’t even considered that being a possibility. He could never see a Divinity using a Creation against an Immortal so early. As such, he had been waiting for the man to use his Creation to make the fight more difficult.
But if Alex was correct, he had been using it right from the start.
’He did sound worried at the start,’ Alex thought. ’It makes sense he would resort to using his Creation right away.’
Alex wasn’t sure if that was the true answer, but there was one way to find out. He covered his sword with Spiritual energy and teleported directly next to the unprepared man. He swung down at him, striking with all the power he could physically muster without using his Sword Intent.
The man reflexively brought up his clubstaff and blocked the attack. The moment he did, a tremendous pain flared through his mind, proving to Alex that what the man was using was in fact his Creation.
