Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy

Chapter 3690: The Cheat

Chapter 3690: The Cheat

"Unfortunate," the puppet said as it flipped the bowl with the red crystal. "You have lost."

Liz slowly stood from her seat after handing over the single star. She was a little annoyed at having chosen the wrong bowl just now, but it was quite obvious that she would have chosen the wrong one from the start.

The moment she had sensed what she did, it was almost guaranteed that she would fail.

She wanted to shout at the puppet for what it had done, but with so many people watching, she had to stay calm and not give anything away.

As she walked back, Ronron took her place, walking toward the puppet. As she arrived, Liz quickly leaned in close and gave her the details.

Ronron’s eyes widened in surprise.

"Are you sure?" she asked.

Liz nodded.

Ronron held a strange expression the entire way to the puppet. She slowly sat down before it, watching the thing without a face with careful eyes, as though doing that would let her see through whatever mask the puppet hid behind.

"How many?" the puppet asked.

Ronron hadn’t thought about this until now.

She had decided upon using only a single star at the start, but Liz’s words had thrown everything upside down. If this was her only chance with this puppet, she needed to decide whether she wanted to keep her stars or take a risk.

"Chooooooooose," the puppet said in a long, drawling voice.

Ronron gave a quick nod. "30," she said.

She had 31 stars in total.

So she chose 30.

She was going to take the risk.

"We shall begin."

The many hands of the puppet came down to grab the bowls as it flipped them one after another, including the bowl with the red crystal. Once it was flipped, the hands began moving the bowls around, slowly mixing them.

Ronron’s Demon Eyes activated, and she used them to look through the bowls and how they moved. Had she had her Demon Eyes at Stage 3, this might’ve been a lot easier, but she didn’t believe she needed that in the slightest.

Even at its highest speed, she was comfortably keeping track of the bowl with the red crystal.

And then, she sensed it.

Just as Liz had told her she would.

She sensed a teleportation aura.

It was quite faint, so faint that anyone who wasn’t attuned to the Space Dao would never notice it. That was why most people hadn’t even realized such an aura was being used here.

Liz had sensed it, but her talent when it came to space was nowhere as good as when it came to time. Even though her master had told her the importance of space in Divinations, he had barely managed to teach her how to sense it.

She had yet to learn its Dao.

As such, while she had sensed the teleportation aura, she sensed nothing beyond it. She could not tell where it was happening in the slightest.

Ronron, however, was born for this.

With her physique, her talent in space was likely better than even the Azure Dragon’s talent in space, and those beasts were born with the ability to teleport, their bodies creating Space aura all by themselves.

The moment the crystal teleported within the bowls, her eyes moved to the new location where she sensed the end point of the teleportation. She followed that bowl until the crystal moved again, teleporting to a different location.

It switched around a few more times, and Ronron kept track of each teleportation while also following the bowls with her eyes.

After what felt like forever, the puppet finally slowed down, and the bowls came to a stop.

Just before it stopped, the crystal teleported one last time.

Ronron’s eyes moved along with it as she looked at what she was now fully confident was the correct bowl.

The many arms of the puppet pulled back, leaving the many bowls before it.

"Choose," the puppet said.

Ronron’s finger pointed at the bowl without hesitation.

"It’s this one."

The puppet’s arm reached for the bowl she pointed at and flipped it over.

Out came a glinting red crystal.

"Fortunate," the puppet said in an almost excited tone. "You have won."

Ronron let out a sigh of relief.

She had been worried she had made a mistake somewhere and flipped the order of teleportation one of the times, but thankfully, she had only been overthinking.

She had won.

"I did it," she said with a smile and was about to stand up when the puppet brought its hand over.

And on that hand were more stars than Ronron had seen together until now.

She counted out of instinct, but she didn’t have to.

The stars she won were all there.

All 300 of them.

Ronron took the stars and left the place with a look of pure disbelief. 300 stars were beyond her imagination.

"I did it!" she said as she walked back to her group.

Before she could get there, however, she was immediately surrounded by the crowd.

At first, Ronron became defensive, thinking the people were there to steal from her. However, the crowd immediately made it clear what it was that they wanted from her.

"How did you do it?"

"Is there a trick?"

"Please, tell us."

Ronron was quickly overwhelmed by them, unable to speak clearly for a few seconds.

"Alright, move aside," Alex said as he and Battlesage walked in and pushed the crowd away.

"Hey, we’re just asking for some suggestions," one of them said in protest.

"Sure. Here is the suggestion," Alex said. "That thing uses teleportation to move the crystal around. Even if you follow the right bowl, the stone will be in one that is entirely different. If you are able to keep track of teleportation, you can try. Otherwise, I wouldn’t waste my stars here."

"Is that... true?" someone in the crowd asked, unsure whether to believe him or not.

Alex shrugged.

"That’s for you to decide. Good luck."
