Chapter 3667: The Act
Chapter 3667: The Act
"I do have one question," Alex said. "How did you do it?"
"Hmm? Do what?" Renye asked.
"The actual act of stealing. How did you plan it all to happen? Given how strict I’ve seen everything around here is, I am surprised you weren’t caught in the first place," Alex said.
Renye raised an eyebrow. "It’s gotten strict now, has it?" he asked. "That’s probably because of me. Things were much less strict around here in the past. That’s how I got away."
"Can I ask how you went about it then?" he asked. "Or is that off topic? I was told nothing was out of topic."
Renye appeared to have no clue about it either. He looked toward the Sky God, waiting for her to say something. Alex turned as well. But the Sky God didn’t react to either of them at all, so they could only imagine that it was allowed.
"I don’t think she would mind it, so I will tell you," the man said. "There wasn’t any master plan or anything. There wasn’t even much of a plan to begin with. The idea came to me in a moment of desperation, and I decided to jump on it the moment it did."
"I went over to my master and took the items from her Soul Space, and then I went over to the treasury to take the rest of the items that were out there," Renye said.
Alex blinked. The way the man said everything made it sound so mundane, as if the theft itself had been a walk in the park. "Surely things couldn’t have been that simple, could they?"
"They were," the man said. "But that’s partly because of who I am. As the first disciple of the Sky God, no one would dare stop me from going anywhere. The security was strong, but it was never meant for me at all, so I was able to take things away."
Alex kept staring.
"I might have told them that I did it because master told me to. I do remember saying some of that," he said.
"No, wait. You stole from her Soul Space? How is that possible? Even the Dao of Spatial Release doesn’t allow you to mess with someone’s Soul Space. Especially not one whose Soul Space is as large as hers."
Renye shook his head. "Of course I couldn’t just steal the items from outside. Most of the important items were inside of her Soul Space. So I had to steal them all from there."
Alex failed to understand how that was even possible. "How did you do it? How could she not find out?"
He worried for the safety of his own Soul Space at that moment, for if there truly was a way to get something out from other people’s Soul Space, he would be in the most trouble.
"I lied to her," Renye said in a simple manner.
Alex paused. "What?"
"Yeah, I... I just lied to her. I told her I needed to train, so she let me in. Stealing anything after that was quite easy," the man said. "Once I got out, I hurried over to the treasury, where I stole everything from as well and ran. That didn’t last for too long though. By the time I had arrived at the base of the plateau, she had already realized what I had done."
Alex tried to wrap his head around what he was told and failed to do so. "Wait, can you explain how you got into her Soul Space? You... lied your way in?"
Renye nodded. "Since master’s Soul Space is vast, it is the perfect place for us to train our techniques. We don’t need any locations with strong barriers or worry about accidentally destroying something. We get to fight to our hearts’ content, which makes it the perfect training ground. We are used to training in her Soul Space since we became her disciples, so she didn’t doubt me when I asked to go inside once again."
Alex finally understood what the man meant.
"I see," he said slowly. "A Celestial’s Soul Space must be incredibly strong to handle the techniques of even Divinities. It is indeed a perfect place for everyone to train."
"Well, I made use of exactly that to steal the treasures," he explained.
Alex could only shake his head as he listened to the man. The sheer audacity this man had to even think of that was already incredible, but then to go and do it, he was indeed a mad man. No sane person would ever steal from a Half-God from right under their nose after all.
Or perhaps, that was exactly why it had worked in the first place. The Sky God hadn’t expected anyone to steal anything, which was why everything had been stolen. If one could have predicted this, then it wouldn’t have happened after all.
"So much trust, and it was still such a close call," Yang Renye said. "I was nearly captured before I got to leave."
"But you got to leave, and that’s all that mattered," Alex said.
"I did," the man said rather joyfully. "How are the trees doing, by the way? I nearly killed one of them, so I was a little worried. Thankfully, they’ve both taken root, so hopefully they’re growing well enough."
"They’re doing quite well," Alex said. "In fact, they are doing amazing. Both the trees have grown a lot during the past 2 millennia, and have gone from being just the freshly germinating seedlings you saw to actual bona fide trees."
"Really?" Yang Renye said with raised eyebrows. "So both the Nine Yang Divine Tree and the World Tree have grown a lot?"
"Yes, a lot," Alex answered.
"I see. Did the Nine Yang Court take away their tree yet then?" he asked.
"They should have been notified, so it won’t be long before they come to take it," Alex said.
The man nodded in understanding. "And what of the other one?"
"I still have it in my Soul Space," Alex answered.
Yang Renye was surprised. "Really? Has my master not taken it away yet?"
