Chapter 800: Chapter 392: Great People Have Short Memories (Part 2)
Li Chang’an smiled, a cunning glint in his eyes.
"Dealing with someone like Zhou Yuanshan requires unconventional methods."
"But he definitely won’t let this go."
Su Wan walked over, her expression grave.
"He’s sure to investigate what happened to Zhou Ze."
"I know."
Li Chang’an nodded, his expression calm.
"But Zhou Ze has amnesia. He can’t remember a thing. Even if Zhou Yuanshan questions him, he won’t get any answers."
"That presents an opportunity."
Su Wan was lost in thought, a glint in her eyes.
"Perhaps we can use Zhou Ze’s amnesia to clear ourselves of suspicion completely."
"That’s what I was thinking, too."
Li Chang’an laid out his plan.
"As long as Zhou Ze insists he was attacked by a monster, Zhou Yuanshan won’t have anything on us."
"Yes, let’s do that."
Su Wan nodded decisively.
"I’ll report this to headquarters and have them put pressure on the Galaxy Group to stop their retaliation."
"Good."
Li Chang’an replied.
The group discussed a few more details before going their separate ways.
Li Chang’an returned to his room, but his mind was far from calm.
He had bluffed Zhou Yuanshan for now, but he knew it was just a stalling tactic.
’A man like Zhou Yuanshan would never give up so easily.’
’I have to come up with a foolproof plan to completely neutralize the threat from the Galaxy Group.’
’Otherwise, the 42 Combat Group will never know a day of peace.’
Li Chang’an sat on the edge of his bed, closed his eyes, and thought about his next move.
Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck him.
A bold plan began to take shape in his mind.
Li Chang’an’s eyes snapped open, shining with excitement.
"Perhaps... I could do this..."
he muttered to himself, the corner of his mouth curving into a dangerous smile.
He got up, found Su Wan and Lin Yuan, and laid out his entire plan for them.
"What? Are you crazy?"
Su Wan exclaimed after hearing Li Chang’an’s plan, her voice cracking.
"This is too risky!"
"I know it’s risky, but it’s our only chance."
Li Chang’an’s tone was firm, his gaze intense.
"But..."
Su Wan was still hesitant, thinking the plan was just too insane.
"Minister Su, trust me."
Li Chang’an looked directly into Su Wan’s eyes, his tone sincere and resolute.
"I wouldn’t gamble with the fate of the 42 Combat Group."
Su Wan fell silent, looking at Li Chang’an with a complicated expression.
In his eyes, she saw determination, courage, and above all, loyalty to the 42 Combat Group.
Finally, Su Wan slowly nodded.
"Alright, I agree."
"But you must remember: safety first."
"Don’t worry, Minister Su. I know my limits."
Li Chang’an smiled, relieved.
"Battle Commander, what do you think?"
Su Wan looked at Lin Yuan, who had been silent the whole time.
"The young man has guts."
Lin Yuan spoke slowly, his tone filled with admiration.
"Let’s do it your way."
"Thank you, Battle Commander!"
Li Chang’an said excitedly.
"No need to thank me. You’ve earned this."
Lin Yuan smiled and patted Li Chang’an on the shoulder.
"Go for it. The 42 Combat Group will always have your back."
Li Chang’an took a deep breath, suppressed his excitement, and turned to leave the office.
A new battle was about to begin.
This time, he wouldn’t be on the defensive. He was going on the attack.
He would make the Galaxy Group pay for what they had done!
As Li Chang’an walked out of the Battle Commander’s office, he ran into Shen Qiuyue.
"Captain, where are you going?"
Shen Qiuyue asked curiously.
"To take care of something."
Li Chang’an gave a mysterious smile.
"Something big."
"What is it?"
Shen Qiuyue pressed, her eyes full of curiosity.
"You’ll find out when the time comes."
Li Chang’an said, keeping her in suspense.
"Just wait for the show."
With that, Li Chang’an strode away, leaving Shen Qiuyue looking puzzled yet full of anticipation.
"The medical bay?" Shen Qiuyue tagged along like a kitten, her steps light. "Captain, what are you going there for? To see Zhou Ze?"
"Mhm," Li Chang’an grunted, not bothering to explain as he quickened his pace.
"I’m coming too!" Shen Qiuyue caught up in a few steps and walked beside him.
Once they reached the medical bay, Li Chang’an put a finger to his lips. "Shh." He signaled for Shen Qiuyue to be quiet.
He gently pushed the door open a crack and peeked inside.
Zhou Ze was sitting up in his hospital bed while Nanny Wang fussed over him like a mother hen protecting her chick, afraid he might get the slightest bump or scrape.
"Young Master Zhou, you just woke up. You’re weak, you need to eat more." Nanny Wang held a tray of nutritious food, scooping up a spoonful and bringing it to Zhou Ze’s lips.
Zhou Ze frowned with a look of resistance but opened his mouth anyway.
"Nanny Wang, I... I’m not hungry..." Zhou Ze’s voice was weak and a little hoarse.
"You have to eat even if you’re not hungry!" Nanny Wang’s tone was firm and left no room for argument. "How will you recover if you don’t eat?"
"But..." Zhou Ze tried to say something more, but Nanny Wang cut him off.
"No buts!" Nanny Wang shot him a glare. "Be good and eat!"
Helpless, Zhou Ze had no choice but to eat.
Li Chang’an and Shen Qiuyue watched from outside the door, wanting to laugh.
"That Nanny Wang is really treating Zhou Ze like a child," Shen Qiuyue whispered.
"It’s fine," Li Chang’an said with a smile. "It’s less trouble for us if someone is taking care of him."
"Captain, what’s your plan?" Shen Qiuyue asked in a low voice.
"Wait," Li Chang’an said, uttering a single word.
"Wait?" Shen Qiuyue was confused. "Wait for what?"
"Wait for Zhou Yuanshan to show up." Li Chang’an’s eyes were as deep and bottomless as a dark pool.
"He’ll definitely come."
"What’s he coming for?" Shen Qiuyue was even more confused.
"To confirm Zhou Ze’s condition, of course," Li Chang’an said confidently. "He doesn’t believe our story."
"Then what do we do?" Shen Qiuyue was a little worried. "Zhou Ze has amnesia, but Zhou Yuanshan doesn’t."
"That’s why we have to wait." A smile touched Li Chang’an’s lips. "Wait for him to walk right into our trap."
Shen Qiuyue didn’t quite understand, but she trusted Li Chang’an.
The two of them waited quietly outside the door.
Time ticked by, second by second.
A set of hurried footsteps echoed from the hallway.
Zhou Yuanshan had arrived.
He stormed into the medical bay with several bodyguards, radiating menace.
"Zhou Ze!" The moment Zhou Yuanshan saw him, he rushed to the bedside, his voice urgent.
"How are you? Are you okay?"
Zhou Ze looked at Zhou Yuanshan, his expression blank and confused.
"Who... who are you?"
"I’m your uncle, Zhou Yuanshan!" Zhou Yuanshan said anxiously. "You don’t remember me?"
"Uncle?" Zhou Ze frowned, trying his best to remember, but his mind was a complete blank.
"I... I don’t remember..."
"You don’t remember?" Zhou Yuanshan’s face changed, a hint of panic in his eyes.
"How could you not remember? Think!"
"I..." Zhou Ze clutched his head, his expression pained. "My head hurts..."
"Chairman Zhou, don’t get excited." Li Chang’an walked in, his tone calm.
"Zhou Ze just woke up and is still weak. You shouldn’t frighten him."
"Li Chang’an!" Zhou Yuanshan glared at him, grinding his teeth in fury.
"You dare show your face!"
"Chairman Zhou, what a thing to say." Li Chang’an casually walked up to Zhou Yuanshan, completely unruffled.
"Why wouldn’t I dare to come?"
"Zhou Ze was injured, and we saved him. It’s one thing not to thank us, but why are you being so hostile?"
"Saved him? I think you harmed him!" Zhou Yuanshan roared, his voice deafening.
"You must be the ones who did this to my nephew!"
"Chairman Zhou, that’s a heartless accusation." Li Chang’an shook his head, looking deeply grieved.
"We risked our lives to save Zhou Ze. How can you say such a thing?"
"Risked your lives?" Zhou Yuanshan sneered. "How did my nephew end up like this?"
"Have you forgotten, Chairman Zhou?" Li Chang’an reminded him. "Zhou Ze was attacked by a monster. The shock is what caused his amnesia."
"A monster?" Zhou Yuanshan frowned, a flicker of doubt in his eyes. "What monster?"
"My, how forgetful of you.
Are you sure you’ve really forgotten?"
Li Chang’an’s eyes slowly narrowed, and a subtle curve appeared on his face.
