Chapter 787 - 386: Star River’s Wrath
Chapter 787: Chapter 386: Star River’s Wrath
"Hey, Lin, you need to calm down!" Liu Na couldn’t help but say, seeing the Battle Commander pacing back and forth in a panic. "Li Chang’an’s right. We need to have a backup plan, just in case."
Lin Yuan stopped in his tracks and waved his hand in frustration. "Fine, prepare however you want! I can’t deal with this anymore. You all figure it out yourselves!"
With that, the holographic projection snapped off, leaving Liu Na, Li Chang’an, and the others to stare at each other in dismay.
"Well..." Liu Na’s lip twitched as she looked awkwardly at Li Chang’an. "Captain, so... what do we do now?"
"What else can we do? We go back and wait for news." Li Chang’an, on the other hand, seemed to be taking it in stride. He shrugged and walked out of the command center.
Shen Qiuyue, Sun Yang, and Han Ruoxi quickly followed.
Back in the squad’s lounge, the atmosphere was suffocatingly tense.
"Captain, what’s Lin’s deal? How come it seems like he couldn’t care less if Zhou Ze is dead or alive?" Sun Yang couldn’t hold it in any longer and grumbled.
"It’s not that he doesn’t care. He’s scared," Li Chang’an replied calmly. "Those people from the Galaxy Group are terrifyingly powerful. There’s no way he’d dare to cross them."
"So we’re just supposed to sit around and wait? Do nothing?" Shen Qiuyue said, unwilling to accept it.
"Of course we can’t just sit and wait," Li Chang’an said, shaking his head. "We have to do something."
"Like what?" Han Ruoxi asked quietly.
"Let’s wait and see for now. Those people from the Galaxy Group will probably be here soon." Li Chang’an paused, then added, "When they get here, we’ll assess the situation and play it by ear."
...
Li Chang’an’s prediction turned out to be spot-on. The Galaxy Group moved even faster than they had expected.
Early the next morning, a battleship the size of a small mountain landed with a thunderous ROAR at the Interstellar Warrior Base on Lion’s Fang Star.
A crowd of people swarmed off the battleship, all dressed in black suits. They carried themselves with an air so menacing it looked like they were ready to tear someone apart.
Leading the group was a middle-aged man with a long, grim face and a gaze as sharp as a knife.
"I’m Zhou Yuanshan of the Galaxy Group. Zhou Ze’s father." The man walked up to Battle Commander Lin Yuan and spoke icily. "Where is my son?"
"Mr... Mr. Zhou, hello, a pleasure to meet you. I’m the Battle Commander of the 42 Combat Group. My name is Lin Yuan." Lin Yuan hurried forward to greet him, a forced smile blooming on his face. "Ah... about Zhou Ze’s situation, I’m truly... sigh, it’s such a tragedy..."
"Spare me the useless pleasantries!" Zhou Yuanshan cut Lin Yuan off. "I don’t want to hear it. I just want to know where my son is."
"Mr. Zhou, please, calm down. Just calm down and let me explain..." Lin Yuan tried to soothe him.
"I don’t have time for your explanations!" Zhou Yuanshan roared. "I’ll ask you one last time. My son! Where is he?!"
"He... He’s missing." Lin Yuan flinched from the shout and forced himself to answer.
"Missing? What do you mean?" Zhou Yuanshan’s eyes bulged, his temper flaring.
"He... He was at an ancient ruin... in the Kars Mine Area... And then... he was sucked into a Crystal Ball, and then... he just vanished." Lin Yuan was starting to stutter badly.
"Crystal Ball? What Crystal Ball?" Zhou Yuanshan grabbed Lin Yuan by the collar and hauled him off his feet. "You’d better start making sense!"
"Mr... Mr. Zhou, please... calm down, let me explain..." Lin Yuan’s face went pale with fright. He trembled all over, feeling like he was about to suffocate.
"Calm down, my ass!" Zhou Yuanshan roared, his voice even louder. "If anything happens to my son, I’ll have your entire 42 Combat Group buried alongside him!"
"Mr. Zhou, please... let go first. I... I’ll take you to see the Crystal Ball..." Lin Yuan felt like he couldn’t breathe.
"Fine. You’d better not be playing any tricks, or you won’t even know what hit you." Only then did Zhou Yuanshan release Lin Yuan, but his expression remained terrifyingly vicious.
Lin Yuan quickly led Zhou Yuanshan to the Kars Mine Area, breaking into a trot.
The Insect Hunter Squad followed as well, their hearts pounding with anxiety.
"This... This is the place. There used to be a Crystal Ball right here," Lin Yuan said, pointing at an empty spot on the platform. "That’s the thing that sucked Zhou Ze in."
"Where’s the Crystal Ball? Why is it gone?" Zhou Yuanshan scanned the area but saw nothing.
"It... It shattered," Lin Yuan’s voice was barely a whisper.
"Shattered? How?" Zhou Yuanshan demanded.
"It... It was the members of the Insect Hunter Squad. They were trying to save someone... they used Energy Resonance and shattered it," Lin Yuan said, pointing at Li Chang’an and the others.
"You?!" Zhou Yuanshan whipped his head around to stare at Li Chang’an’s team, his eyes burning with a look that could skin them alive. "You’re the ones who killed my son?!"
"Mr. Zhou, you’ve misunderstood. We didn’t do it on purpose..." Li Chang’an tried to explain.
"Shut up, all of you!" Zhou Yuanshan bellowed, cutting Li Chang’an off. "I don’t want to hear your excuses! I just want to know where my son is!"
"We... We really don’t know." Li Chang’an shook his head. "After the Crystal Ball shattered, we never saw him again."
"You... You people..." Zhou Yuanshan was trembling with such rage that, for a long moment, he couldn’t even form a complete sentence as he pointed at Li Chang’an and his team.
"Mr. Zhou, please calm down. We’ll definitely figure out a way to find Zhou Ze. We promise," Lin Yuan quickly interjected, trying to placate him.
"Figure out a way? How are you going to do that? Huh?" Zhou Yuanshan roared at Lin Yuan again. "You people couldn’t even handle one damn Crystal Ball, so what good are you?"
