Chapter 784: Chapter 384: Terror in the Ruins (Part 2)
"I just looked up the data..." Bai Lin said, sounding a little wronged.
"Cut the crap. Start thinking of a way to deal with these bugs!" Li Chang’an said, swinging his Saw Chain Sword and slicing several pouncing Black Obsidian Beetles in two.
Shen Qiuyue also brandished her Dueling Sword, weaving through the swarm of bugs. With flashes of her blade, she cut down one Black Obsidian Beetle after another.
Han Ruoxi, meanwhile, unleashed her Electric Superpower, zapping any approaching Black Obsidian Beetles until they convulsed and let out strange screeches.
But there were simply too many Black Obsidian Beetles. They were impossible to kill them all, pouring endlessly out of the darkness.
"We can’t go on like this! We’ll be worn down to death!" Sun Yang shouted.
"We have to find their nest and wipe them out completely!" Li Chang’an said, his eyes scanning the surroundings.
"The nest? Where is it?" Shen Qiuyue asked.
"I don’t know, but it has to be nearby!" Li Chang’an said, his eyes suddenly lighting up. "I’ve got it! Follow me!"
He charged in one direction, swinging his Saw Chain Sword to cut down any Black Obsidian Beetles in his path.
Shen Qiuyue, Sun Yang, and Han Ruoxi followed close behind.
The four of them fought their way forward and finally arrived before a massive cave.
Inside the cave, piles of Black Obsidian Beetle corpses were heaped up alongside some unidentifiable bones. A pungent stench filled the air.
"This is the Black Obsidian Beetles’ nest!" Li Chang’an said.
"Holy crap, so many bugs. How are we supposed to kill them all?" Sun Yang’s scalp tingled as he looked at the densely packed Black Obsidian Beetles inside the cave.
"With a fire attack!" Li Chang’an said. He took an incendiary bomb from his backpack and threw it into the cave.
The incendiary bomb exploded, instantly erupting into a raging inferno that engulfed the entire cave.
The Black Obsidian Beetles let out shrill, miserable cries, struggling in the flames before turning to ash.
"Done!" Li Chang’an clapped his hands together, a faint smile on his face.
"Captain, that move was ruthless!" Sun Yang gave him a thumbs-up.
"You have to use ruthless measures against these bugs," Li Chang’an said lightly.
"Ah!" Suddenly, Han Ruoxi let out a startled cry.
Li Chang’an, Shen Qiuyue, and Sun Yang quickly turned to look. A black vortex had appeared at Han Ruoxi’s feet at some point, and it was sucking her in.
"Ruo Xi!" Li Chang’an cried out in alarm and rushed over, trying to grab Han Ruoxi’s hand.
But the vortex’s suction was too strong. Li Chang’an’s hand was just a hair’s breadth from grabbing Han Ruoxi’s fingers.
Han Ruoxi’s figure vanished into the vortex in an instant.
"Dammit!" Li Chang’an slammed a fist into the ground, overcome with frustration.
"Captain, don’t worry. Ruo Xi will be fine!" Shen Qiuyue said comfortingly.
"I hope so..." Li Chang’an sighed, stood up, and scanned his surroundings.
’What... is this place?’
"The vortex must be some kind of teleportation device. It’s sent Ruo Xi somewhere else," Bai Lin analyzed.
"Somewhere else? Where?" Li Chang’an asked.
"I don’t know. The internal structure of these ruins is very complex. I can’t pinpoint Ruo Xi’s location," Bai Lin said, shaking their head.
"Then what do we do? How do we find Ruo Xi?" Sun Yang asked anxiously.
"Don’t panic. Let’s look around for other clues first," Li Chang’an said, beginning to search the area.
Shen Qiuyue and Sun Yang also joined the search.
The three of them carefully examined every inch of the floor and every wall, not letting a single corner escape their notice.
"Captain, look here!" Shen Qiuyue suddenly said, pointing at a wall.
Li Chang’an and Sun Yang hurried over. On the wall were some strange, carved symbols.
"What kind of writing is this?" Sun Yang asked.
"It’s not writing, it’s a map!" Bai Lin’s voice came through. "A map of this area is carved onto this wall!"
"A map? Great!" Sun Yang said excitedly. "With a map, we can find Ruo Xi!"
"Don’t celebrate too early. This map is complicated, and many places are marked as dangerous," Bai Lin said, pouring cold water on his excitement.
"Dangerous? What kind of danger?" Li Chang’an asked.
"I don’t know. The map only indicates danger, without specifying what kind," Bai Lin said, shaking their head.
"I don’t care what kind of danger it is, we have to go check it out!" Li Chang’an said, his eyes scanning the map. "The place Ruo Xi was most likely teleported to... is here!"
He said, pointing to a marker on the map.
"Here? What is this place?" Sun Yang asked.
"I don’t know, but the map shows that this is the core area of the ruins," Li Chang’an said.
"The core area? Then there must be a lot of good stuff!" Sun Yang’s eyes lit up.
"Stop thinking about useless things. Let’s find Ruo Xi first!" Li Chang’an shot Sun Yang a glare.
"Alright, alright. I’ll listen to you," Sun Yang shrugged.
"Let’s go. We’re moving out!" Li Chang’an said, taking the lead and heading in the direction marked on the map.
Shen Qiuyue and Sun Yang followed close behind.
The three of them followed the corridor forward, passing through room after room and bypassing trap after trap, finally arriving at the core area marked on the map.
The core area was a huge, circular space. In the center of the space was a large platform, and on the platform stood a Crystal Ball.
The Crystal Ball emitted a dazzling light, illuminating the entire space.
"This is the core area of the ruins?" Sun Yang said, looking at the scene before him with some disappointment. "It doesn’t look that special."
"Don’t speak carelessly. Be careful, there must be traps here," Shen Qiuyue reminded him.
"Traps? Where?" Sun Yang asked.
"I don’t know, but they have to be around here," Shen Qiuyue said, her eyes scanning the surroundings.
"Ruo Xi isn’t here..." Li Chang’an said, looking at the empty platform with some disappointment.
"Captain, look at that Crystal Ball!" Shen Qiuyue suddenly said, pointing at the Crystal Ball on the platform.
Li Chang’an and Sun Yang quickly looked at the Crystal Ball. Inside it, to their surprise, was a human figure.
"Ruo Xi!" Li Chang’an cried out in alarm and rushed toward the platform.
"Captain, be careful!" Shen Qiuyue shouted.
But Li Chang’an had already rushed onto the platform and arrived in front of the Crystal Ball.
"Ruo Xi, is that you?" Li Chang’an asked softly, looking at the figure inside the Crystal Ball.
The figure inside the Crystal Ball was indeed Han Ruoxi.
She seemed to be trapped inside the Crystal Ball, unable to move or speak, only able to plead with Li Chang’an with her eyes.
"Ruo Xi, don’t be afraid! I’ll save you!" Li Chang’an said, raising his Saw Chain Sword, about to strike the Crystal Ball.
"Stop!" Suddenly, a voice came from behind him.
Li Chang’an quickly turned around to see Zhou Ze emerging from a corridor with his two bodyguards.
"Zhou Ze? Why are you here?" Li Chang’an asked with a frown.
"Hmph. This young master goes wherever he pleases. What’s it to you?" Zhou Ze said disdainfully.
"What are you doing here?" Li Chang’an asked.
"Treasure hunting, of course!" Zhou Ze said as if it were the most natural thing in the world. "There must be tons of treasure in these ruins. This young master can’t let you all hog it for yourselves!"
"Treasure hunting? You should worry about yourself first!" Li Chang’an said coldly. "This place is dangerous. It’s not somewhere you should be."
"Dangerous? What a joke! What kind of scenes has this young master not witnessed? A little danger like this is nothing!" Zhou Ze said dismissively.
"Young Master Zhou, is the person in the Crystal Ball one of your companions?" a bodyguard asked, pointing at Han Ruoxi in the Crystal Ball.
"Then... what about the matter with Zhou Ze? Are we just going to ignore it?" Han Ruoxi asked.
"The Battle Commander said he’ll send people to the Kars Mine Area to investigate and see if they can find Zhou Ze," Liu Na said.
"Alright..." the team members nodded and said no more.
"Okay, you all head back and rest for now. Don’t leave the base for the next few days. Wait for the Battle Commander’s orders," Liu Na said.
"Yes, Commander!" Li Chang’an saluted.
