Chapter 759 - 372: Who Wants a Chicken Leg?

Chapter 759: Chapter 372: Who Wants a Chicken Leg?

"You’re such a blockhead. Forget it, I’m done talking to you. I’m going to get more food!"

She stood up and walked toward the cafeteria’s serving window.

Bai Lin watched her leave, silently placing his terminal on the table and taking a sip of water.

Before long, the cafeteria grew lively as team members began to arrive. Sun Yang was the first to burst in, a rare excitement on his face.

"Guys! They actually have chicken legs for breakfast today! Who wants a chicken leg?"

"Stop shouting. Just sit down and eat."

Li Chang’an walked in at a leisurely pace and patted Sun Yang’s shoulder.

"Keep making a fuss and you won’t get any!"

"Captain, don’t be such a buzzkill!"

Sun Yang plopped down with his tray.

"It’s rare we get something nice. Why isn’t anyone else excited?"

"We’ve been too exhausted these last few days. A chicken leg isn’t going to change that."

Shen Qiuyue came over with a bowl of congee and sat across from him.

"If you really think it’s so great, then stop yapping and get to training after you finish!"

"Training again..." Sun Yang grimaced.

"Sister Qiuyue, I’m begging you, can we please take one day off?"

"You don’t have to train. No one’s forcing you."

Shen Qiuyue took a sip of her congee.

"But if you get killed on the next mission, don’t blame us for not warning you!"

"That’s so brutal!"

Sun Yang sighed.

"Fine, whatever. I’ll worry about it after I eat."

Han Ruoxi returned with a plate of fruit, placing it on the table.

"Brother Chang’an, have today’s orders been confirmed? Are we really getting a day off?"

"How long we get to rest depends on headquarters’ arrangements."

Li Chang’an sat down and had a sip of congee.

"Use this time to get yourselves back in shape. Don’t waste it."

"Got it!"

Han Ruoxi sat down, ate a piece of fruit, and snuck another glance at Bai Lin.

"Brother Chang’an, do you think he was just born unable to relax?"

"That’s just how Bai Lin is," Li Chang’an said nonchalantly.

"Why worry about him? Just mind your own business."

"What a boring squad," Han Ruoxi muttered, lowering her head to focus on her fruit.

After breakfast, the team members filed out of the cafeteria in twos and threes. They were all still weary, but their expressions were much more relaxed than before.

"Now this is a rare day of leisure!"

Sun Yang swung his water bottle, humming a little tune.

"I’m telling you, if we got to eat chicken legs every day, I could put up with this life!"

"If that’s all it takes to satisfy you, you’re a hopeless case," Shen Qiuyue said, walking behind him with her gaze fixed straight ahead.

"Stop thinking about food. See you at the training grounds. Don’t be late."

"Huh?"

Sun Yang froze, stopping in his tracks to look back at her.

"Isn’t today our day off? Why are you still thinking about training?"

"Rest is for recovering, not for lying in bed all day," Shen Qiuyue said coldly.

"Keep being this lazy and you’ll be the first to die on the next mission."

"Sister Qiuyue, don’t you think that’s a bit harsh?" Sun Yang said with a wronged expression.

"All I want is a good night’s sleep. Is that really necessary?"

"It is!" Shen Qiuyue shot him a look.

"Figure it out yourself. I can’t be bothered with you."

Sun Yang sighed as he watched her cold, retreating back.

"You guys think she ever gets tired of putting on that icy front every day?"

"Whether she’s tired or not is none of your business."

Li Chang’an came up from behind and patted his shoulder.

"But Qiuyue is right. You should get moving."

"Alright, alright! I give up on you guys!"

Sun Yang shook his head, muttering as he headed for the training grounds.

"A bunch of training freaks. How did I get stuck with you all for life?"

Han Ruoxi laughed as she walked.

"Sun Yang, just accept your fate. If it weren’t for you, our team’s ’comic relief,’ we’d probably be the Alliance of the Silent by now!"

"Was that supposed to be a compliment?"

Sun Yang glanced back at her.

"If it was, how about you treat me to some fruit wine to celebrate?"

"In your dreams!"

Han Ruoxi rolled her eyes.

"Stop trying to freeload all the time. I’ll consider it when I have time later."

The team soon arrived at the training grounds, and everyone expertly fell into their own routines.

Li Chang’an stood in the center, briefly adjusting his Armor before looking up at the group.

"Today’s training is a free session," he said calmly.

"Set your own pace. Don’t push too hard, but don’t slack off either."

"Understood!"

Everyone replied in unison, then got busy.

Sun Yang sat on a nearby bench, cradling his Pulse Gun as he inspected it.

He muttered under his breath.

"’Free session,’ my foot. This is just us finding ways to keep busy."

"Sun Yang, is your gun jammed again?"

Han Ruoxi stood nearby with her arms crossed, a hint of a smile playing on her lips.

"Don’t let it fail on you in combat like last time."

"Can you give me a little credit?"

Sun Yang looked up and glared at her.

"It’s working perfectly this time. Jams are a thing of the past!"

"Let’s hope so."

Han Ruoxi shrugged.

"Anyway, if you mess up, I’m not bailing you out."

On the other side of the field, Shen Qiuyue was practicing her Sword Skill.

Her Dueling Sword cut fierce arcs through the air, each swing clean and efficient, without a single wasted motion.

Meanwhile, Bai Lin sat at the edge of the training area, recording something on his terminal while occasionally glancing up at his teammates’ movements.

"Bai Lin, what are you recording that for?"

Li Chang’an walked over, sat down next to him, and asked casually.

"Analysis," Bai Lin replied without looking up.

"I’m looking for areas where our squad’s combat style can be optimized."

"Always finding more work for yourself, huh?" Li Chang’an chuckled.
