Chapter 704 - 344: This Isn’t a Bug?
Chapter 704: Chapter 344: This Isn’t a Bug?
"Bai Lin, what’s the enemy distribution ahead?"
Li Chang’an asked in a low voice as he advanced.
Bai Lin stared at the map on his terminal, quickly analyzing the situation.
"There are about fifteen drones on the perimeter, scattered across different areas of the mining site. They aren’t a major threat.
But the guards are more concentrated, mostly patrolling near the command post.
If we don’t take out the guards, getting close to the command post will be very difficult!"
"Sun Yang, the guards are yours!"
Li Chang’an turned to look at Sun Yang.
"Use your firepower advantage to clear them out quickly. Avoid a direct confrontation with the Commander-level Insect Race!"
"No problem!"
Sun Yang patted the Pulse Gun in his hands and said, full of confidence.
"Leave the guards to me. Just watch!"
"Han Ruoxi, you’ll support Sun Yang. At the same time, control the drones around the mining site. Don’t let them harass the others!"
Li Chang’an then looked at Han Ruoxi.
"Don’t worry, Captain. Leave these small fry to me. I’ll take care of them in a minute!"
Han Ruoxi flexed her fingers. An arc of electricity flashed briefly on her Superpower Gloves, and a confident smile touched her lips.
"Shen Qiuyue, you’re with me. We’ll break through the front and draw the attention of the Commander-level Insect Race to buy Bai Lin some time.
He needs to hack into the command post’s system and disable their communications to prevent them from calling for reinforcements!"
Li Chang’an’s gaze finally landed on Shen Qiuyue.
"Understood!"
Shen Qiuyue nodded, tightening her grip on the High-Energy Dueling Sword at her waist, her expression unreadable.
"Begin the operation!"
At Li Chang’an’s command, the squad quickly dispersed, each moving to their designated position according to the plan.
Sun Yang was the first to enter a combat stance.
He lay prone behind a concealed rock, propped his Pulse Gun on it, and aimed at a guard not far away.
The guard was easily twice the size of a common member of the Insect Race. Its carapace glowed with an eerie green light, a clear sign of its extremely high defense.
"Eat this, guard!"
Sun Yang shouted in a low voice and pulled the trigger.
A blue Energy Beam shot out instantly, striking the guard square in the chest with a dull THUD.
’Damn, this thing’s carapace is tough!’
Sun Yang grinned, fired two more shots, and finally brought the guard down for good.
Without a moment’s pause, he quickly shifted his aim and opened fire on another guard.
"Sun Yang, two more on your left! Don’t let them get close!"
Han Ruoxi’s voice came through the comms. At the same time, an arc of electricity flashed from a distance, striking two approaching common drones and burning them to a crisp.
"I know! You think I need you to tell me something so simple?"
Sun Yang retorted, raising his weapon to fire again. A series of Energy Beams from the Pulse Gun successfully drove back the guards on his left.
"Stop running your mouth. If you have time to talk, you have time to shoot!"
Han Ruoxi sneered, continuing to clear the surrounding drones with arcs of electricity.
"Are you good for anything besides bragging?"
"Han Ruoxi, don’t think you can look down on people just because you have a Superpower! My firepower is the team’s main damage output!"
Sun Yang shot back, not to be outdone, but his hands didn’t slow in the slightest as he continued to precisely eliminate the guards.
"Alright, knock it off!"
Li Chang’an’s voice, tinged with impatience, came through the comms.
"Sun Yang, Han Ruoxi, one more word out of either of you and you’re both running five kilometers back at base!"
The two of them instantly shut up and focused on the battle.
On the other side, Li Chang’an and Shen Qiuyue had already approached the perimeter of the command post.
Their mission was to draw the attention of the Commander-level Insect Race while clearing any obstacles blocking Bai Lin’s path.
"Three guards to the front, two drones behind them. Targets locked,"
Shen Qiuyue said in a low voice, her steps light as she approached the targets.
Her High-Energy Dueling Sword emitted a faint glow, ready to strike at any moment.
"You make the first move. I’ll cover you."
Li Chang’an already had his Saw Chain Sword in hand, his eyes locked on the foremost guard.
Shen Qiuyue didn’t waste words. With a powerful push from her feet, she shot toward the guard like an arrow loosed from a bow.
Her Dueling Sword carved a sharp arc through the air, precisely piercing the guard’s carapace.
The guard let out a low roar and tried to counterattack, but Shen Qiuyue deftly dodged it. She immediately swung her sword again, finishing it off.
"Nice work."
Li Chang’an offered the cold praise, then charged at another guard. The roar of his Saw Chain Sword revved to life as he cleaved the guard in two with unstoppable force.
"Heads up, front! The Commander-level Insect Race has appeared!"
Shen Qiuyue warned, her gaze fixed on a Giant Insect Race that was slowly emerging from the command post.
This creature was three times larger than a guard. Its entire carapace shone with an eerie blue light, and its six compound eyes were locked onto them.
"Stall it! Don’t let it interfere with Bai Lin!"
Li Chang’an waved his hand, revved his Saw Chain Sword again, and charged straight at the Giant Insect Race.
"Understood!"
Shen Qiuyue followed. The two, coordinating seamlessly, began to engage the Giant Insect Race head-on.
Meanwhile, Bai Lin had already neared the side entrance of the command post.
He connected his terminal to the Insect Race’s communication device, his fingers flying as he typed in a string of code, attempting to hack into their system.
"Bai Lin, what’s your progress?"
Li Chang’an’s voice came through the comms, accompanied by the sound of his Saw Chain Sword clashing against the Insect Race’s carapace.
"I need one minute. Breaking the encryption now!"
Bai Lin’s tone was as calm as ever, but the movement of his hands was a dazzling blur.
"Hurry up. We can’t hold out for long!"
Li Chang’an said in a low voice, simultaneously slicing off one of the Giant Insect Race’s forelimbs with his sword.
"Roger!"
Bai Lin didn’t even look up, remaining focused on the task at hand.
The roars of the Giant Insect Race echoed throughout the mining site. Its thick carapace and sharp forelimbs made Li Chang’an and Shen Qiuyue’s assault particularly arduous.
Every attack had to be precise down to the millimeter; otherwise, they risked being hit by its counterattack at any moment.
"Qiuyue, watch its movements! This thing’s reactions are faster than a normal bug’s!"
Li Chang’an reminded Shen Qiuyue over the comms as he engaged the Giant Insect Race head-on with his Saw Chain Sword.
His sword slashed across the giant’s abdomen but was deflected by the hard carapace, sending a shower of sparks into the air.
"Captain, its defense is too strong! Direct attacks can’t break through its carapace!"
Shen Qiuyue rushed in from the other side, her High-Energy Dueling Sword stabbing precisely at the Giant Insect Race’s joints, but it only inflicted minor damage.
The Giant Insect Race suddenly spun around, sweeping its forelimb toward her.
Shen Qiuyue quickly took a step back, dodging the attack with a nimble slide while calmly reporting.
"Its weak points should be under its abdomen and at the connection point of its neck.
We need to make it expose those areas!"
"Understood!"
Li Chang’an nodded, tightened his grip on his Saw Chain Sword, and stared intently at the Giant Insect Race.
With a shift of his feet, he charged straight at the giant from the front, posturing as if for a head-on clash.
The Giant Insect Race was drawn in by his move. Its six compound eyes fixed on his direction as it thrust its sharp forelimbs toward him.
"Now!"
Li Chang’an suddenly dropped into a roll, slipping under the creature’s attack and quickly circling to its side.
He aimed his Saw Chain Sword straight at the connection point of the giant’s neck and thrust with all his might!
PFFT!
The Saw Chain Sword finally broke through the carapace’s defense and plunged into the Giant Insect Race’s vital spot.
But that one blow wasn’t enough to finish it. The Giant Insect Race let out a piercing shriek, its body beginning to thrash wildly as its forelimbs swung even more ferociously.
"Qiuyue, finishing blow!"
Li Chang’an shouted, gripping the Saw Chain Sword tightly with both hands, doing his best to restrain the giant’s movements.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Shen Qiuyue pushed off the ground and leaped high into the air. Her High-Energy Dueling Sword, pulsing with intense Energy, plunged straight toward the underside of the giant’s abdomen.
"Hah!"
With a low cry, Shen Qiuyue’s blade precisely pierced the weakest spot on the underside of the Giant Insect Race’s abdomen.
