Chapter 625: Chapter 305: Destroy This Nest as Soon as Possible

"Hurry up, don’t drag your feet!" Li Chang’an said, turning to leave.

...

In the conference room, the squad members sat around a table. Li Chang’an stood at the front, and on the screen behind him, footage of the mining area collected by Bai Lin was playing.

"According to Bai Lin’s analysis, this mining area is just a peripheral hive for the Insect Race on Lion’s Fang Star," Li Chang’an said, pointing at the screen.

"The hive isn’t large, but based on the number of eggs in the hatchery, their reproduction rate is accelerating."

"Captain Li, does this mean the Insect Race is planning a large-scale invasion?" Shen Qiuyue asked.

"We can’t be sure yet," Bai Lin answered.

"We need more intel to confirm that."

"But one thing is certain: we have to destroy this hive as soon as possible," Li Chang’an continued.

"Otherwise, once the eggs hatch, the situation on Lion’s Fang Star will become even more complicated."

"So when do we move out?" Han Ruoxi asked.

"Not just yet," Li Chang’an said, shaking his head.

"The higher-ups still need time to mobilize resources.

Our mission for now is to hold the perimeter and prevent the Insect Race from expanding."

"Hold the perimeter?" Sun Yang scratched his head.

"That sounds a little easier, but you know the Insect Race never plays by the rules."

"Easier? When has the Insect Race ever made things easy for anyone?" Han Ruoxi sneered.

"Alright, alright, I’ll shut up, okay?" Sun Yang said, waving his hands dismissively.

"But, Captain, if we’re holding the perimeter this time, will we still see any action?"

"We’ll assess the situation as it develops," Li Chang’an said, glancing at him.

"But there’s one thing you must all remember—do not let the Insect Race break through our defensive line!"

"Understood!" the team members answered in unison.

After the meeting, everyone dispersed to prepare for the upcoming mission.

Li Chang’an left the conference room. As he walked to the base’s training grounds, he happened to see Han Ruoxi and Shen Qiuyue sparring.

Each held a weapon. Arcs of electricity crackled from Han Ruoxi’s hands, while Shen Qiuyue blocked her attacks with a High-Energy Sword. The scene was exceptionally intense.

"Shouldn’t you two be preparing instead of running off here to spar?" Li Chang’an stopped, crossing his arms. His tone held a hint of exasperation.

"Captain, we finished our preparations a while ago!" Han Ruoxi said, flicking the arcs of electricity in her hand.

"There are no missions right now anyway, so we might as well get some practice in!"

"That’s right, Captain," Shen Qiuyue said, retracting her High-Energy Sword.

"Training against machines all the time gets boring. Sparring with a real person is much more effective."

"You’re just making excuses," Li Chang’an said, shaking his head.

"But since you’re so eager to practice, let me see just how much you’ve improved."

"Captain Li, you want to get in on this yourself?" Han Ruoxi raised an eyebrow, a flicker of excitement in her eyes.

"What, scared?" Li Chang’an drew his Saw Chain Sword and took a step forward.

"Bring it on! Who’s afraid of who?" Han Ruoxi took a step back, readying herself for a fight.

"Qiuyue, what about you?" Li Chang’an looked at Shen Qiuyue.

"You two go first," Shen Qiuyue said calmly, taking two steps back and holding her sword to watch from the sidelines.

"Fine, then I won’t hold back!" With a flick of his wrist, Li Chang’an’s Saw Chain Sword let out a low hum.

"Captain, don’t be too rough!" Han Ruoxi struck a pose.

"I haven’t even had dinner yet. I’d rather not end up on the floor right now!"

"Enough talk. Make your move!" Li Chang’an charged forward, his Saw Chain Sword sweeping out horizontally.

Han Ruoxi sidestepped, whipping the arcs of electricity toward Li Chang’an’s arm.

But Li Chang’an had already anticipated it. He instantly changed his attack, bringing his Saw Chain Sword down toward Han Ruoxi’s shoulder.

’So fast!’ Han Ruoxi didn’t have time to dodge completely. She could only shield her shoulder with her electric arcs, taking the blow head-on. The impact sent her stumbling back several steps.

"Not bad. Your reaction time is decent," Li Chang’an said, stopping and glancing at her.

"But you’re still too hesitant."

"Hesitant? Captain, that was strategy!" Han Ruoxi grit her teeth and charged forward, unleashing arcs of electricity from both hands to block off Li Chang’an’s attack paths.

Li Chang’an, however, was unhurried. He slid to the side, quickly circling to Han Ruoxi’s flank, and thrust his Saw Chain Sword from her blind spot.

"Don’t even think about it!" Han Ruoxi was prepared. The electricity surrounding her body suddenly erupted, forcing Li Chang’an back.

The two traded blows, one attacking and one defending. In just a few short minutes, they had already exchanged more than a dozen moves. Watching them, even Shen Qiuyue couldn’t help but nod in approval.

"Ruo Xi, you’ve really improved a lot," Shen Qiuyue said faintly.

"But you still can’t beat the Captain."

"Sister Qiuyue, don’t you think that’s a little too blunt?" Han Ruoxi panted, clearly starting to struggle.

"It’s just the truth," Shen Qiuyue replied, her tone calm.

"Alright, that’s enough," Li Chang’an said, retracting his Saw Chain Sword and waving his hand.

"Your skills have definitely improved, but you still need more real combat experience."

"Come on, Captain, can’t you praise me a little?" Han Ruoxi looked at him, dissatisfied.

"Praise you for what? For almost getting knocked down by a single swing of my sword?" Li Chang’an raised an eyebrow.

"Fine, forget I said anything," Han Ruoxi grumbled, dispersing the electric arcs.

"Qiuyue, you want to give it a try?" Li Chang’an looked at Shen Qiuyue.

"Now that you’re done fighting Ruo Xi, I’m not interested," Shen Qiuyue said, shaking her head.

"I can’t beat you anyway."

"You’re more self-aware than Ruo Xi, at least," Li Chang’an noted with a nod.

"Alright, let’s all go eat. Stop wasting time."

...

At the edge of the training grounds, Sun Yang was leaning against the fence, munching on an Energy Cookie and watching the show with great interest.

"Captain, your moves are incredible.

Those last few moves were so smooth. If I were Han Ruoxi, I would’ve been on my knees already!" Sun Yang said, clapping, his mouth full of cookie.
