Chapter 595 - 290: Weren’t You So Arrogant Just Now?

Chapter 595: Chapter 290: Weren’t You So Arrogant Just Now?

"Sun Yang, your aim is as terrible as ever!"

Li Chang’an chuckled, then suddenly charged forward, his Saw Chain Sword aimed straight for Sun Yang’s chest.

Startled, Sun Yang frantically leaped backward. He whipped his Pulse Gun around and fired a few wild energy beams, trying to force Li Chang’an back.

"Don’t run away! Weren’t you talking big just a moment ago?"

Li Chang’an gave chase, swinging his sword with movements so fast they were a blur.

"Captain! Captain! Calm down! I was just kidding!"

Sun Yang yelled as he ran, looking like he was about to cry. "Somebody help me! This is totally unfair!"

Nearby, Han Ruoxi was doubled over with laughter, covering her mouth. "Sun Yang, didn’t you just call yourself an expert? Why so scared now?"

"Han Ruoxi, don’t just stand there! Give me a hand!"

Sun Yang yelled, still running for his life.

Shen Qiuyue stood on the sidelines with a faint smile. "Sun Yang, stop running and just concede. You can’t win!"

"Concede? Impossible!"

Sun Yang suddenly stopped, jerked up his Pulse Gun, and unleashed a torrent of suppressive fire at Li Chang’an.

"Not bad. Finally getting serious!"

Li Chang’an commented as he dodged.

A few seconds later, Sun Yang’s Pulse Gun suddenly went CLICK-CLICK-CLICK. It was completely out of Energy.

"Oh, crap! I forgot to recharge it!"

Sun Yang froze for a second, then immediately tossed his Pulse Gun aside and held up his hands toward Li Chang’an. "Wait! Captain, let’s talk this over! Don’t get physical!"

"Talk about what? Can’t handle a loss?"

Li Chang’an walked forward with a smile, lightly tapping Sun Yang on the shoulder with the flat of his Saw Chain Sword. "You lose."

"I concede! I concede!"

Sun Yang hurriedly raised both hands, a sycophantic grin plastered on his face. "Captain, you’re amazing! I’m completely convinced!"

"Would’ve saved us some trouble if you’d just conceded earlier, right?"

Li Chang’an retracted his Saw Chain Sword and turned to the sidelines. "Next up. Shen Qiuyue, you ready?"

Shen Qiuyue drew her Dueling Sword and walked to the center of the training area. "I won’t be as foolish as them.

Let’s begin!"

Shen Qiuyue’s movements were incredibly fast. The clash of her Dueling Sword against the Saw Chain Sword rang out, sharp and clear, and the squad members watching from the side held their breath.

Han Ruoxi whispered to Sun Yang, "How long do you think Shen Qiuyue will last?"

"Longer than me, at least!"

Sun Yang sighed. "Her Swordsmanship is a special technique passed down through her family. We’re not in the same league."

In the arena, Shen Qiuyue pressed her attack relentlessly, but Li Chang’an seemed completely at ease, effortlessly parrying her every strike.

"Not bad, Shen Qiuyue. You’ve actually managed to last this long against me!"

Li Chang’an said with a smile, parrying another one of her strikes.

"Less talk, more fighting!"

Shen Qiuyue retorted coldly, her sword suddenly changing direction to thrust at Li Chang’an’s waist.

Li Chang’an sidestepped the blow, kicking off the ground to instantly create some distance. "That was close! You almost got me there."

"You’re underestimating your opponent!"

Without another word, Shen Qiuyue charged forward again.

The two were locked in combat for some time before Li Chang’an, who had a slight edge, finally blocked Shen Qiuyue’s last strike with his Saw Chain Sword.

"You’ve lost."

Li Chang’an said, pointing his sword at Shen Qiuyue with a hint of a smile.

Shen Qiuyue sheathed her sword and nodded. "I lost.

But I’ll definitely win next time!"

"I’ll be waiting."

Li Chang’an sheathed his sword at his waist and looked at Han Ruoxi and Sun Yang. "Your performance today was decent, but there’s still plenty of room for improvement, especially when it comes to your teamwork.

Next time, I expect to see better!"

"Alright, alright, Captain. Whatever you say," Sun Yang said with a wave of his hand. "Can we go eat now? I’m starving!"

"We can eat, but whoever lost the most today is buying!"

Li Chang’an pointed a finger at Han Ruoxi and Sun Yang, a smirk tugging at his lips.

"What? Captain, that’s not fair!"

Han Ruoxi immediately erupted.

"Not fair?"

Li Chang’an said with a laugh. "You lost the most. If you don’t buy, who will?"

"I protest!"

Han Ruoxi raised her hand, her eyes filled with indignation.

"Protest denied!"

Li Chang’an waved his hand dismissively and started walking toward the base cafeteria. "Let’s go, stop dawdling. Don’t blame me if all the good food is gone by the time we get there!"

The Insect Hunter Squad bickered all the way to the cafeteria. The place was bustling with people; soldiers fresh from training were gathered in small groups. Some were wolfing down their food from trays, while others were clustered around tables, chatting up a storm.

"Chang’an, what looks good for lunch?"

Sun Yang stood before the serving line, staring at the steaming pots of food and practically drooling. "The Red Braised Pork looks good, and the pork rib soup smells amazing. How about some stir-fried pork with chili?"

"Just get whatever you want!"

Li Chang’an grabbed a tray. "Less talking, more doing. Go save us a table before we end up wandering around with our food and nowhere to sit!"

"I was just being respectful of your opinion, Captain!"

Sun Yang quickly defended himself, then turned to Han Ruoxi. "Miss Han, don’t you think our Captain is a little too aloof?"

Han Ruoxi was staring intently at the steamed dumplings and didn’t even turn her head when she heard him. "Eat whatever you want. Leave me out of it. I’m so hungry I could eat anything right now!"

’She’s not very refined, is she!’

Sun Yang sighed. "Fine then, I’ll order for myself.

Sir, I’ll have an order of the stir-fried pork with chili, plus two portions of the Red Braised Pork! And make it extra spicy!"

"Sun Yang, don’t eat so much spicy food. What if it messes with you during training this afternoon?"

Shen Qiuyue, who had ordered something light for herself, offered a cold reminder.

"Don’t worry, I can handle it!"

Sun Yang patted his chest. "A little spice is nothing to me!"

"Suit yourself."

Shen Qiuyue carried her tray and went to find a seat in a corner at the back.

Once the group had all sat down, the atmosphere at their table grew lively.
