Chapter 578: Chapter 281: I Know What to Do (2)
"We’re all ready!" Han Ruoxi panted, gathering Electric Energy in her hands again, ready to go all out.
Shen Qiuyue remained calm, her eagle-like eyes fixed on every enemy. The sword in her hand trembled slightly, ready to strike at any moment.
On the battlefield, the enemy’s final large-scale assault was about to begin. The Insect Race and the Rebel Army had joined forces once more, launching a frenzied charge toward the base’s defensive line.
Every member of the Insect Hunter Squad gripped their weapons tightly, preparing for this life-or-death battle.
"Everyone, prepare for battle!" Li Chang’an commanded, and the Insect Hunter Squad once again entered the height of combat.
The enemy charge came like a tsunami, but the Insect Hunter Squad held firm on the base’s defensive line, swearing to resist to the death.
As the enemy’s final wave crashed against the base’s defenses like a tide, every member of the Insect Hunter Squad gritted their teeth and desperately held their positions.
They knew this would be the toughest battle yet. The intensity of the enemy’s charge had reached its peak, and the Insect Race and Rebel Army were mercilessly trying to tear through their defensive line.
"They’re here! Prepare suppressive fire!" Li Chang’an ordered swiftly, his gaze as sharp as an eagle’s as he stared at the swarming enemy in the distance.
Sun Yang was already poised to strike. His Pulse Gun suddenly erupted with a burst of fire, a rain of Energy Bullets pouring out to precisely strike the Insect Race monsters at the front of the charge.
The barrage hammered the enemy ranks, and the sound of explosions was endless, but the enemy kept coming, wave after wave.
"There’s no end to these bastards! But I can still hold on!" Sun Yang laughed as he continued to fire. The effect of the suppressive fire was obvious, temporarily slowing the enemy’s charge.
A powerful electric current once again formed between Han Ruoxi’s hands. She knew she couldn’t hold anything back this time.
With a sudden wave of her hands, a massive blue-white arc of electricity shot through the enemy ranks like Lightning. The current leaped between the bodies of the Insect Race and Rebel Army soldiers, instantly paralyzing them.
Her face had grown pale, but she forced herself to keep releasing her Electric Energy.
"Han Ruoxi! Pace yourself! Don’t overexert yourself!" Li Chang’an shouted, clearly worried she was using up too much of her strength.
"Don’t worry, I can still hold on!" Han Ruoxi gritted her teeth and continued to release her Electric Energy. Despite her exhaustion, she refused to stop.
Shen Qiuyue’s defense on the flank remained as sharp as ever.
The gleam of her sword was as fast as Lightning, and every strike was so precise that the enemy had no way to dodge.
The Rebel Army soldiers trying to break through the flank couldn’t even get close. Her calm and decisive actions ensured that every one of their attempts ended in failure.
"The Rebel Army’s attacks are getting more and more ferocious!" Shen Qiuyue calmly analyzed as she fended off the enemy’s assault.
"We have to hold on! We absolutely cannot let them break the line!" Sun Yang yelled through gritted teeth, continuing to strafe the enemy with his Pulse Gun. "If these bastards break through today, I, Sun Yang, will never be able to show my face again!"
Li Chang’an remained at his command post, calmly directing every detail of the fight.
He knew that although the enemy’s assault was powerful, as long as the Insect Hunter Squad could hold out, they would definitely be able to last until reinforcements from the base arrived.
In the distance, the assault from the main Insect Race army and the Rebel Army had reached a fever pitch.
Large numbers of Insect Race monsters fell under the barrage of firepower and Electric Energy, but more enemies kept swarming in. The Rebel Army’s fire support was also intensifying, and the entire battlefield was plunged into its most tense moment.
"The enemy’s main force is approaching! Full defense!" An urgent alarm sounded from Bai Lin’s terminal as he quickly reported the latest battle situation.
Li Chang’an gripped his Saw Chain Sword tightly and calmly issued his orders, "Shen Qiuyue, hold the left flank! Han Ruoxi, concentrate your power and block the enemy’s line of attack! Sun Yang, keep up the suppressive fire, and don’t let the Insect Race get near the defensive line!"
"Understood!" Shen Qiuyue replied coldly, continuing to fend off the enemy’s assault with her sharp Swordsmanship.
"Don’t worry, leave it to me!" Han Ruoxi panted, her Electric Energy still flowing out endlessly, striking down large groups of approaching enemies.
"Alright, watch this!" Sun Yang grinned and slammed the trigger. The Pulse Gun’s Energy Bullets continued to spray wildly, catching the enemy completely off guard.
Just then, the roar of engines suddenly echoed from the sky. Li Chang’an looked up to see several of the base’s aircraft rapidly approaching from the distance. Accompanied by piercing sirens, the reinforcements had finally arrived.
"Reinforcements are here!" Li Chang’an’s voice held a trace of relief. He knew the base’s defensive line was finally secure.
The aircraft’s weapons systems immediately began to bombard the enemy. A dense barrage of Energy Bullets and missiles instantly blanketed the entire enemy front line.
The Insect Race and Rebel Army formations completely collapsed under the intense suppressive fire. Having lost all organization, the enemy began a panicked retreat.
"Haha! We finally held on!" Sun Yang laughed, waving his Pulse Gun. "These bastards run faster than anyone!"
"Don’t let your guard down! Maintain formation!" Li Chang’an commanded, ever the calm leader, ensuring the enemy wouldn’t launch a sudden counterattack.
Under the powerful suppressive fire of the reinforcements, the enemy’s assault completely disintegrated.
The remnants of the Insect Race and Rebel Army forces began to scatter and flee. They no longer had the strength to attack the base’s defensive line.
Soon after, the battlefield gradually fell silent. Every member of the Insect Hunter Squad was exhausted, but they knew they had won this arduous battle.
"It’s finally over!" Han Ruoxi let out a long sigh of relief and collapsed behind the defensive line. Her forehead was covered in sweat, but a smile touched her lips.
"Yeah, that was a close call today!" Sun Yang said, sitting nearby and panting as he clutched his Pulse Gun. "But we won!"
Shen Qiuyue, ever calm, sheathed her sword. She stood at the edge of the defensive line, her gaze still sharp. "The enemy has retreated for now, but that doesn’t mean they won’t return."
Li Chang’an walked over and nodded lightly. "Shen Qiuyue is right. The Insect Race and the Rebel Army won’t give up so easily.
But this battle today bought us precious time, and we defended the base!"
"Heh heh, at least we’ve got a chance to catch our breath now!" Sun Yang said with a laugh. "But I wouldn’t mind another fight!"
"You should rest first, Brother Yang!" Han Ruoxi teased. "You’ve already done more than enough fighting for one day!"
The members of the Insect Hunter Squad shared a laugh and followed Li Chang’an back inside the base.
The mission was a success. Time flew, and before they knew it, a while had passed.
"Brother Li, what kind of tricks do you think the instructor has planned for today?" Sun Yang whined, slumped over a table in the base cafeteria. He was holding a half-eaten kebab, a look of reluctance on his face. "After yesterday’s training session, my back is about to break!"
"How should I know!"
Li Chang’an glanced up at him, busy with the fried egg on his breakfast plate. His expression was placid, as if he couldn’t care less about the upcoming training.
Han Ruoxi, who was sitting opposite them and drinking a nutrient solution, frowned slightly when she heard Sun Yang. "You’d better watch it. That instructor shows no mercy. Complain a little more, and he’ll probably give you extra training!"
"Extra training? He dares give *me* extra training? My back can’t take it!"
Sun Yang rubbed his back dramatically, a pained look on his face. "Any more training and I’ll end up in a medical pod! Right, Brother Li?"
"If your back can’t take it, that’s your own problem. Don’t blame the instructor!"
Li Chang’an swallowed his last bite of fried egg and casually pushed his plate forward. "Hurry up and finish. It’s time for training!"
Shen Qiuyue walked over just then, holding a plate in one hand and a spoon in the other. She gave the others at the table a cool glance, her voice tinged with disdain as she spoke. "You men are all talk.
It’s just training. Is all this whining and groaning really necessary? Haven’t you noticed that Han Ruoxi hasn’t said a word?"
"Hey, hey, hey, Eldest Miss Shen, don’t say that!"
Hearing this, Sun Yang immediately turned to Han Ruoxi. "Ruo Xi is a Superpower User. One jolt from her is worth ten days of our training.
We ordinary Martial Artists can’t compare, right, Han Ruoxi?"
