Han Ruoxi’s ears perked up, her expression turning grave. "Did you guys hear that? That sound... It’s like some heavy equipment is approaching!"
"We’ve definitely got a situation!" Bai Lin quickly checked his terminal. "High energy readings detected up ahead. It’s very likely the enemy is deploying heavy firepower. Our defense line could take a massive hit!"
"Damn it! They’re bringing in heavy weapons?" Sun Yang grew tense, quickly adjusting his Pulse Gun. "How are we supposed to deal with this? One shot from that thing and our defense line won’t hold!"
Li Chang’an thought for a moment, then made a quick decision. "Han Ruoxi, Shen Qiuyue, you’re with me. We’ll scout ahead and see the enemy’s exact deployment.
Sun Yang, you stay here and maintain suppressive fire. Bai Lin, monitor the enemy’s communications. The second you find the location of their heavy weapons, notify me!"
"Understood!" Sun Yang and Bai Lin replied in unison, then immediately got to work.
Li Chang’an led Han Ruoxi and Shen Qiuyue rapidly toward the front line. They moved covertly through the defensive cover, silently closing in on the enemy’s position.
Ahead, they could faintly make out several massive mechanical devices gradually powering up. Rebel Army and Insect Race soldiers were moving around them frantically, clearly preparing for a more ferocious assault.
"Looks like some kind of large Energy Cannon!" Shen Qiuyue said in a low voice, her calm gaze sweeping over the huge mechanical devices. "They’re trying to crush our defense line with sheer firepower!"
"Most likely heavy Ion Cannons!" Han Ruoxi added softly. "The Energy fluctuations from these devices are incredibly strong. If they score a direct hit on our defenses, the base could be severely damaged!"
"We can’t let them succeed!" Li Chang’an said coldly. "We have to destroy these devices before they can fully activate!"
Han Ruoxi nodded, strong Electric Energy rapidly gathering in her hands. "I can try to paralyze their systems with my Electric Energy, but I’ll need to get closer!"
"I’ll cover you!" Shen Qiuyue gripped her sword, her gaze firm. "As long as you can lock onto the devices, I can block the enemy’s counterattack for you!"
Li Chang’an quickly laid out the plan. "Alright. Han Ruoxi is on system sabotage, Shen Qiuyue is on defense.
We need to take out these heavy weapons as fast as possible. No delays!"
The three of them crept silently toward the heavy weapon emplacements. Patrols on the ground were dense, but by using the terrain and the cover of darkness, they successfully evaded the enemy’s sight.
Once they were within a certain distance, Han Ruoxi’s eyes grew more focused. She could clearly feel the powerful Energy fluctuations emanating from the devices.
"These are the Ion Cannons!" Han Ruoxi said in a low voice, the Electric Energy in her hands beginning to gather rapidly. "I can destroy their Energy Cores now, but the moment I make a move, the enemy is sure to notice!"
"Then do it!" Li Chang’an’s tone was firm. "We can’t give the enemy a single opening!"
Han Ruoxi nodded. The Electric Energy Ball in her hands suddenly expanded, and she swiftly shot a current toward several of the heavy Ion Cannons in front of her.
The current struck the devices’ Energy Cores like a bolt of lightning, instantly erupting in a brilliant shower of sparks. A harsh CRACKLE came from inside the machinery, and their operation was immediately disrupted.
"It worked!" Han Ruoxi let out a breath, a hint of relief on her face.
Just then, however, enemy alarms suddenly blared. Nearby patrols reacted instantly, and large groups of Rebel Army soldiers quickly assembled and charged in their direction.
"The enemy’s found us!" Shen Qiuyue said coldly, immediately drawing her sword and preparing to fight.
Li Chang’an waved a hand. "Han Ruoxi, keep destroying the remaining devices. Shen Qiuyue and I will hold off the enemy!"
Han Ruoxi nodded and continued to unleash her full Electric Energy, targeting the remaining Ion Cannons.
By this time, the Rebel Army soldiers had closed in. Shen Qiuyue charged forward without hesitation, the light of her sword flashing as every strike precisely hit an enemy’s vital point.
Her movements were swift and sharp, single-handedly stopping the enemy’s first wave in its tracks.
Li Chang’an, meanwhile, used his Saw Chain Sword to engage another wave of enemies in close-quarters combat.
His Sword Skill was clean and decisive. Every swing carried immense pressure, and the Rebel Army soldiers couldn’t get near him at all.
"Those guys are really going all out!" Sun Yang muttered to himself as he observed the scene through a long-range scope. He quickly spoke into his communicator, "Chang’an, how are things on your end? Do you need me to move up and support?"
Li Chang’an replied, catching his breath, "Negative! Keep suppressing the Insect Race forces on the main front. Don’t let them break through the line!"
"Understood! You guys watch yourselves!" Sun Yang immediately adjusted his fire and continued to spray wildly at the Insect Race in front of him.
Han Ruoxi’s Electric Energy quickly destroyed the second Ion Cannon. However, the enemy’s assault was growing more and more ferocious.
The Rebel Army seemed to realize their heavy weapons were being destroyed and dispatched even more soldiers to intercept the Insect Hunter Squad’s operation.
"Han Ruoxi, faster! We can’t hold out for much longer!" Shen Qiuyue urged in a low voice while fending off the enemy’s attacks.
"I know, I’m almost there!" Beads of sweat already covered Han Ruoxi’s forehead, but she didn’t let up in the slightest. She continuously released her Electric Energy and quickly locked onto the final Ion Cannon’s Energy Core.
"Success!" Han Ruoxi finally let out a sigh of relief as the last Ion Cannon let out a piercing explosion and was completely disabled.
