Chapter 571 - 277: That’s a Possibility

Chapter 571: Chapter 277: That’s a Possibility

"Looks like the enemy’s defenses aren’t as tight as we imagined," Sun Yang whispered. "Maybe they haven’t even realized we’re here yet!"

Li Chang’an nodded slightly. "Or maybe they’re just overconfident, thinking we wouldn’t dare set foot in their territory."

Before long, the squad successfully passed through the enemy’s outer perimeter and entered the core area.

The atmosphere here was palpably different. The movements of the Insect Race and Rebel Army were more methodical, and their defenses were much tighter.

"Looks like they’re really planning something big," Han Ruoxi whispered, observing the scene ahead.

"We have to be careful," Li Chang’an ordered in a low voice. "This next part is the most dangerous. Make sure we’re not spotted!"

The squad quickly fanned out, taking cover to perform reconnaissance around the core area.

Bai Lin continued to monitor the enemy’s communications and movement patterns, constantly relaying intel to Li Chang’an.

Suddenly, there was a stir up ahead. It seemed a unit of the Rebel Army was being urgently redeployed.

"We’ve got movement," Bai Lin said in a low voice. "The enemy is redeploying troops, most likely in preparation for their next offensive!"

Li Chang’an frowned and murmured, "It seems their attack is imminent."

Shen Qiuyue said coldly, "We have to figure out their plan, and fast. We’re running out of time."

Li Chang’an gave a slight nod, his gaze resolute. "Everyone, stay hidden and continue scouting. We have to find their command center!"

The Insect Hunter Squad lay in wait around the enemy’s core area. Li Chang’an’s eyes scanned the surroundings, searching for the command center.

The area was heavily fortified. Units of the Insect Race and Rebel Army patrolled back and forth in orderly patterns. Everyone’s nerves were stretched taut; the slightest misstep could expose them.

"We need to be careful," Han Ruoxi whispered as a reminder. An Electric Energy Ball danced at her fingertips, ready to deal with any emergency.

"Bai Lin, what’s the intel on your end?" Li Chang’an asked, his voice low, his eyes fixed on a distant structure.

Bai Lin’s fingers flew across her terminal as she whispered back, "I’ve intercepted some of their communications. The command center is likely on the high ground up ahead. It’s their main communications node."

"We’ll have to bypass the patrols and find a better route for infiltration."

Li Chang’an nodded. "Good. Once you find a route, we move immediately."

"Remember, everyone, this is the most critical moment. There is no room for the slightest error."

"Understood!" the squad members whispered in unison.

Shen Qiuyue tightened her grip on her High-Energy Sword and said calmly, "We have to get that intel before they launch a full-scale assault. Otherwise, the base will be in grave danger."

Beside them, Sun Yang tightened his grip on his Pulse Gun. He wasn’t cracking any more jokes, but his eyes held the glint of a warrior eager for a fight.

"Don’t you worry. My gun’s been ready for a while now. The moment they spot us, I guarantee I’ll show them what we’re made of."

Li Chang’an shot him a look. "This mission is about intelligence first. Firing is prohibited unless it is an absolute last resort."

"Our objective is to infiltrate and get the exact location of the enemy’s command structure. Don’t do anything reckless!"

"Heh heh, I know. I’ll hold back, I’ll hold back," Sun Yang whispered, though it was obvious his finger was already itching on the grip of his gun.

The Insect Hunter Squad continued to press forward, carefully bypassing several patrols of the Insect Race and Rebel Army.

Han Ruoxi took the lead, using her Electric Superpower to jam several patrol routes and ensure the squad remained undetected.

Everyone held their breath, their footfalls as light as feathers, as if they had merged with the night itself.

"We’re almost there," Bai Lin whispered. "Based on the intercepted signals, the command center should be on that high ground, less than a kilometer from us!"

Li Chang’an nodded slightly, gesturing for the squad to halt and observe the situation ahead.

A small military base sat atop the high ground. Joint forces of the Rebel Army and the Insect Race were bustling about in an orderly fashion.

It looked like this was the enemy’s command hub.

"We need to get closer," Li Chang’an whispered. "We need to be able to intercept more accurate intel."

"Alright, I’ll go scout," Han Ruoxi volunteered. An Electric Energy Ball flickered in her palm; she was clearly prepared.

"I’m going with you," Shen Qiuyue said coldly, gripping her sword. "There could be hidden guards ahead. We can’t take the risk."

Li Chang’an glanced at them and nodded. "You two be careful. Make sure you aren’t seen."

Han Ruoxi and Shen Qiuyue quickly approached the high ground. Their movements were incredibly stealthy, like a pair of Black Shadows melting into the surrounding darkness.

Before long, they were lying in wait at the edge of the high ground. Han Ruoxi gently released Electric Energy from her hands, using the current to jam nearby detectors and ensure no surveillance equipment could capture their movements.

"Detectors jammed. We’re clear for now," Han Ruoxi reported in a low voice.

"There are plenty of guards inside, too," Shen Qiuyue said coldly. "We need to be even more careful."

The two slowly approached the enemy’s command center, hiding behind a large boulder to observe.

A short distance away, several Rebel Army commanders stood before a virtual tactical table, apparently discussing the specifics of their attack plan.

Beside them stood several Insect Race commanders, making strange, low-pitched noises as if coordinating with the Rebel Army’s plan.

Han Ruoxi stared at the tactical table and whispered, "It looks like they’re planning out the exact attack routes."

Shen Qiuyue nodded. "We have to get our hands on that plan."
