Chapter 555 - 270: Devil Coach
Chapter 555: Chapter 270: Devil Coach
"Then we’ll have to prepare twice as hard!" Sun Yang said, a hint of worry in his voice. Although he usually talked a big game, the last battle had made him realize the Insect Race’s offensive was far from simple.
Li Chang’an walked to the window, gazed at the distant sky, and thought for a moment.
"Listen up, everyone!" He turned around, his tone growing serious.
"What we do next isn’t just about maintaining our stamina and combat readiness. We also have to be prepared for anything.
The Insect Race won’t stick to hitting supply lines forever. They could launch a major assault on the base at any moment!"
Han Ruoxi nodded. "The Captain’s right.
We need to do more than just train our combat techniques. We have to be thoroughly prepared for anything!"
"So, Captain, how are we supposed to prepare?" Sun Yang asked anxiously.
"Starting today, we’re doubling our training!" Li Chang’an said gravely. "A fight could break out at any moment. We can’t afford to let our guard down for an instant!"
"Double the training?" Sun Yang grimaced. "Captain, we just got out of a fight. My legs haven’t even recovered yet!"
"Stop complaining," Li Chang’an said coolly. "If you want to make it out of this alive, you have to stay sharp at all times.
You almost went down today. If those reinforcements hadn’t shown up, you know exactly what would have happened!"
Sun Yang gave an awkward laugh. "You’re right, Captain. I was just talking. Don’t worry, I’ll definitely work twice as hard!"
"Starting tomorrow, it’s physical and combat training every morning, tactical drills in the afternoon, and guard duty at night," Li Chang’an continued. "Especially at night. The Insect Race excels at surprise attacks in the dark, so we must maintain a state of high alert!"
"Understood, Captain!" Han Ruoxi and Shen Qiuyue replied in unison.
Sun Yang wasn’t joking anymore. His expression turned serious. "Alright, I’m with you, Captain. My life is in your hands anyway!"
"Don’t put your life in my hands. Put it in your own," Li Chang’an said with a small smile, clapping Sun Yang on the shoulder.
"Everyone, get some rest. We’ll start the drills this afternoon!"
Sun Yang sighed and flopped onto his bed. "Captain, you’re a real Devil of a trainer, but fine, I’m in!"
"Don’t try to slack off. The break isn’t long, so make the most of it!" Li Chang’an waved a hand, dismissing them to rest.
The barracks fell quiet. Everyone was mentally preparing for the high-intensity training that afternoon.
「A few hours later.」
The Insect Hunter Squad assembled once more on the training grounds.
Li Chang’an stood before the squad and began to lay out the afternoon’s tactical drill.
"This time, we’re simulating a surprise attack from the Insect Race. Assume the enemy is surrounding us from all sides. Split into two teams: one on defense, one on offense.
Remember, the focus is on coordination and reaction time!"
"Captain, who’s on offense and who’s on defense?" Han Ruoxi asked, a clear note of excitement in her voice.
"I’ll lead Sun Yang and Shen Qiuyue on offense. Han Ruoxi, you’re in charge of defense. Use your Superpower and your positional advantage to hold the line as long as possible!" Li Chang’an directed.
"No problem!" Han Ruoxi nodded and immediately began setting up her position.
"Sun Yang, your firepower is our main asset here. I need you to lay down concentrated, suppressive fire. Don’t give Han Ruoxi any chance to counter-attack!" Li Chang’an told him.
"Don’t worry, Captain. I’ll give it everything I’ve got!" Sun Yang patted his Pulse Gun, brimming with confidence.
"Shen Qiuyue, you’re responsible for keeping Han Ruoxi occupied. Wait for her to show an opening, then strike," Li Chang’an continued assigning roles.
"Understood," Shen Qiuyue responded curtly.
With the tactical briefing complete, the training drill officially began.
Han Ruoxi quickly led the defending team to an advantageous position. Her electrical currents flickered in the air, forming an invisible Electric Grid, ready to repel the attackers at a moment’s notice.
"Captain, their defense looks pretty tight," Sun Yang muttered, raising his Pulse Gun to take aim.
"Easy now. We’ll take this one step at a time," Li Chang’an directed calmly. "Let’s probe their defenses first. See how Han Ruoxi reacts."
Sun Yang immediately pulled the trigger, sending several Energy Bullets flying toward the defensive position.
Just as he’d expected, Han Ruoxi was completely unfazed. With a flick of her wrist, she sent out a current that neutralized Sun Yang’s attack. Arcs of electricity flashed, emitting a sharp CRACKLING sound.
"Her defensive perimeter is pretty wide. We need to find a way to break through," Shen Qiuyue said in a low voice, tightening her grip on her Longsword.
"Patience. We’ll wait for her to leave an opening." A cool light glinted in Li Chang’an’s eyes.
Sun Yang continued to lay down suppressive fire, but Han Ruoxi held her ground, giving them no opportunity to break through.
"Captain, their defense is like a fortress!" Sun Yang grumbled impatiently.
"Wait for your chance. Even the strongest defense has a chink in its armor," Li Chang’an said softly. Suddenly, his eyes lit up. He’d found an opening.
"Now!"
Li Chang’an shot forward, his Saw Chain Sword a blur as he charged straight for Han Ruoxi’s defensive perimeter.
At the same instant, Shen Qiuyue also struck, her Longsword slicing through the air as she attacked Han Ruoxi.
Han Ruoxi clearly hadn’t expected Li Chang’an to be so decisive, and her defense was broken in an instant.
She scrambled to retreat, desperately striking back with arcs of electricity, but the pincer attack from Li Chang’an and Shen Qiuyue still forced her to the edge of her defensive line.
"Quick! Covering fire!" Han Ruoxi yelled.
But Sun Yang’s barrage had her own teammates completely pinned down. All Han Ruoxi could do was grit her teeth and hold on.
Finally, under the combined assault of Li Chang’an and Shen Qiuyue, Han Ruoxi’s defensive position was completely shattered.
"I surrender!" Han Ruoxi raised her hands in resignation, a smile on her face. "Captain, your teamwork is too perfect. You didn’t give me a single opening!"
