Chapter 1140: An Unusual Guest
Chapter 1140: An Unusual Guest
"Could it really be?! Can he actually use Sword Will?!" a sect elder exclaimed, rising to his feet, disbelief etched across his face.
Several other elders stood up as well, equally stunned. Though they didn't want to believe it, they had all witnessed the event with their own eyes. To deny that Su Yang possessed Sword Will now would require another explanation—but none of them could think of one.
And yet, the notion that a mere disciple of the Boundless Yin Yang Sect could wield Sword Will—a power even sword sect elites struggled to grasp—was too far-fetched to accept. It defied logic, experience, and everything they believed to be true.
Unfortunately, since nobody was a swordmaster in the sect, they could not confirm Su Yang's abilities by themselves.
Meanwhile, on the stage, Yun Xiao Hong hurriedly swallowed a recovery pill, desperate to stabilize himself despite it being a clear violation of the rules.
Su Yang ignored his actions and sneered, "What a pointless action."
He casually swung his sword, severing Yun Xiao Hong's arms this time.
"Fuck!" Yun Xiao Hao screamed.
Instead of ending the deathmatch there, Su Yang shifted his focus from Yun Xiao Hong to the audience.
"Listen closely—this will be my first and only warning to anyone thinking of avenging him or causing trouble for me or my partner. If you dare come after us, be ready to face the consequences... and more often than not, that means death."
After his declaration, Su Yang turned around and began walking away from Yun Xiao Hong. This left the spectators puzzled since Yun Xiao Hong was still alive, albeit barely.
However, just as Su Yang reached the edge of the stage, he used Sword Will again to decapitate Yun Xiao Hong from a distance, dumbfounding everyone.
Without sparing a glance behind him or waiting for the judge to announce his victory, Su Yang walked off the stage, his figure fading into the distance. Naturally, he didn't leave empty-handed. With a simple flick of his finger, Yun Xiao Hong's Empyrean-grade sword slipped free from the grip of his severed arm and flew into Su Yang's hand.
Even long after Su Yang had left the arena, not a single spectator moved. They remained seated, their faces frozen in disbelief, each of them struggling to process the spectacle they had just witnessed.
No one could fathom how a dual cultivator as young as Su Yang had managed to grasp Sword Will. Even more baffling was why someone of his caliber would join the Boundless Yin Yang Sect when he could easily claim a place among the greatest sword sects in the Divine Heavens.
After the deathmatch, Su Yang returned to his living quarters.
"Welcome back." Lin Xinyi greeted him with a calm smile on her face, not even mentioning the deathmatch.
"I'm back. Let's cultivate, shall we?"
Lin Xinyi nodded, and they entered his room to cultivate.
Meanwhile, the entire sect remained in a state of shock long after the deathmatch had ended. For the rest of the month, it became the sole topic of conversation among the disciples.
"I can't believe it. We actually have a swordmaster in our sect."
"Hah! What swordmaster! I bet it was some cheap trick!"
However, some of the disciples remained skeptical. After all, it was simply too hard to believe.
"If it was just a trick, why haven't any of the sect elders said anything?"
"T-That's…"
While most disciples were caught up in gossip about Su Yang's Sword Will, one disciple's thoughts were elsewhere.
'Just what is that Xiao Yang up to?' Disciple Fei bit her nails anxiously, her brows furrowed. 'He definitely used my family's sword techniques to provoke me... but why?' She wracked her mind, trying to make sense of his intentions.
She recalled her first encounter with Su Yang and how he had claimed to have no ties to the Ouyang Family. But if he could wield their sword techniques with such skill, that clearly couldn't be true.
Eventually, Disciple Fei decided to stop wasting time and energy on something she would never guess and went to confront Su Yang instead. She visited his living quarters a few days after his match.
"How can I help you?" Mei Ying greeted her at the door.
"I need to speak with Disciple Xiao Yang."
Mei Ying quickly replied, "I'm sorry, but the manager is currently cultivating with his partner."
Disciple Fei's eyebrows twitched at this, but she kept a calm expression and asked, "When will he be done?"
"He's been at it since he came back a few days ago, so it shouldn't be too long… Unfortunately, I cannot give you an exact time."
"In that case, I'll wait for him."
"Okay. Would you like to wait inside?"
Disciple Fei hesitated for a moment before nodding her head and entering the building.
"Can I serve you some tea in the meantime?" Mei Ying asked once Disciple Fei sat down.
"No, it's fine. Instead, can you tell me what kind of person Disciple Xiao is?"
"If you're fine with a biased answer…"
"I don't care."
Mei Ying nodded and began revealing her own biased feelings for Su Yang.
Disciple Fei listened without interrupting until the very end.
"I see. Do you know anything about his swordsmanship background?"
"I do not."
"Is that so…"
Sometime later, Su Yang emerged from his room.
His gaze quickly landed on Disciple Fei.
"Oh? We have quite an unusual guest today. How can I help you, Disciple Fei?" Su Yang asked, his tone casual, as if he'd only just noticed her.
In truth, he had sensed her presence well before she ever reached his doorstep. He even expected her to show up eventually and had notified Mei Ying about it before he started his cultivation. Otherwise, she would've been turned away at the door like the other visitors who have shown up before her.
"I think you know why I am here," Disciple Fei replied as she looked at him with a narrowed gaze.
