Chapter 494: Freedom
Chapter 494: Freedom
Lin Feng wondered how close he was allowed to approach Sun Xiurong after hearing her approval.
"I want to talk about your cultivation path and much more, but for the time being you should go and meet her, she is getting restless right now. Also, thank you for saving her life..."
Lin Feng nodded and decided to ask her true name, "Senior, what is your name?"
"Hmm... my name is Qi Meiling."
Lin Feng gave a small bow before leaving. When he came out, he saw Sun Xiurong pacing around in the courtyard. As she saw him, she finally stopped while sighing slightly.
"Junior brother, you two have talked for quite long, just what topic were you discussing?"
Lin Feng approached her and smiled, "Senior sister, I was asking permission from senior to let us stay together..."
Sun Xiurong was taken aback. She squinted her eyes slightly, "Junior brother... please behave or I will punish you."
Lin Feng’s smile widened, "I have just gone through one punishment, senior sister, I don’t think I would mind going through another..."
Lin Feng could easily sense that she was more embarrassed than angry.
Sun Xiurong felt defeated hearing that. She shook her head and pointed toward his courtyard, "Please go and take a look at your courtyard, junior brother. If you need something, then you can tell me. I will be back after talking to master about something..."
Lin Feng nodded, "Alright..."
Lin Feng also needed some alone time right now. The things he had heard mattered too much to him.
The day he had become aware of true immortality, it had always been his dream to achieve that or die trying to achieve it. That’s why he had pushed himself in every aspect, specifically his battle strength.
His path was filled with deep, soul-stirring dangers, all because he wanted to reach his goal as soon as possible.
He sighed inwardly and flew toward his courtyard.
...
Sun Xiurong looked at him entering his courtyard before going back inside. Once she came to the chamber, she spoke immediately, "Master, I hope you haven’t scared junior brother?"
"Scared him? From what?"
Sun Xiurong felt a little conflicted but came straight forward as she knew twisting words in front of her master didn’t work, "To stay close to me..."
"Hehe... Xiu’er, you’re mistaken about that. Although I’ve always told you that anything unrelated to your path is a distraction, there’s one exception now. If that distraction is Lin Feng, then I welcome it wholeheartedly"
Sun Xiurong’s expression changed in bewilderment, "What do you mean, master?"
"It’s simple. If you want to develop relationship with Lin Feng, then you are more than welcome to do so, but do remember, you wouldn’t be the only woman he has..."
Qi Meiling was certain of her last sentence because of Lin Feng’s Yang Physique.
Sun Xiurong’s eyes widened when she heard it, and her cheeks turned red, "I don’t mean that..." She was in disbelief in hearing that so directly.
"I have known you since you were a child. You came to despise men, yet now you trust one of them completely and are even willing to protect him unconditionally. That alone is enough for me to know that, sooner or later, you will fall in love with him.
This isn’t even a prediction—it’s a certainty because I am quite sure Lin Feng is interested in you, and I doubt you would reject him directly "
Sun Xiurong didn’t know what to think of it. She just shook her head in slight denial, "You are just overthinking, master. I... I am just repaying junior brother for helping me earlier..."
"Alright, alright. If that’s what you think, then so be it. Anyway, I am going to rest for now. Put this sword inside the ring..."
Sun Xiurong nodded while her mind was occupied with the fact about why her master was so certain that junior brother had partners. Did he tell her?
There was one more thing she didn’t understand. Why was her master approving her for such a thing?
...
Inside the other courtyard, Lin Feng looked around before going to his bedroom. He took a deep breath and lay down on it while looking toward the ceiling.
He had never imagined that in such a short amount of time after his reincarnation, he would find such a hidden truth about immortality that would make him doubt his own dreams.
He closed his eyes and went into deep thought. What should he really do now? Give up on his dreams? Or should he be stubborn like senior Ji Rui and challenge Heaven to break free from its shackles after achieving immortality?
What if he failed? Should he accept these hidden shackles and live with them? After all, he would still be immortal.
He shook his head at this thought. Immortality or not, freedom is something which everyone desires the most, and he was no exception to that. He would rather die fighting for his freedom than live like a slave.
In truth, everyone is a slave, bound by the Heavenly Laws, but this is why humans cultivate. With every step they take, they break one restriction, feeling the taste of freedom ever so slightly.
That small taste of freedom is what motivates cultivators to take risks, risks that could take their lives, so how could he just give up on that?
Just knowing that the peak strength he achieved in his past wasn’t the end made his blood boil with excitement. He wanted to see what kind of freedom awaited those who walked that path.
He moved his hand up and looked at his palm.
"I am going to touch it no matter what..."
His words were like an oath. Once he decided something, he did everything in his strength to achieve it, even if it meant going against the Heavenly Will.
He closed his eyes again and decided to have a good sleep this time. He sealed all his senses too.
...
When he woke up, night had already fallen. He stood up and came out of his courtyard feeling refreshed.
He had already accepted everything, and it was time to work on his new ambition.
