Chapter 1249:- Logic vs Emotion
Chapter 1249: Chapter 1249:- Logic vs Emotion
Hearing those words, Malakor Harrington remained silent for a few seconds before slowly turning his attention toward the three Seventh Order cultivators standing in the sky. The expression on his face had become extremely cold, and the little interest he had shown earlier had completely disappeared.
"You see, these two women that this lowlife was trying to kill or take away are my grandson’s future wives. And when it comes to my family, I have no sense of reasoning. I have no sense of responsibility. And I sure do not give a fucking damn what you guys do. Just keep one thing in mind. The more you do here, the more you will get back in return." Malakor Harrington replied in an extremely cold tone while looking directly into the eyes of the three Seventh Order cultivators.
Although Malakor had spoken calmly, there was something extremely frightening about his voice. He was not shouting, nor was he trying to release his powerful aura to threaten them. Instead, he was simply telling them what would happen if they decided to interfere with his actions.
Malakor certainly did not appreciate the arrogance with which the three Seventh Order cultivators had been speaking to him. If someone only listened to their words, there was nothing particularly wrong with what they had said. Their argument was reasonable, and their concerns about the consequences of Seventh Order cultivators joining the battle were completely understandable.
However, their expressions told a completely different story.
Ever since the three cultivators had appeared, they had been looking down at Malakor with confident expressions, as if they were certain that he would have no choice but to follow their demands. There was even a hint of arrogance in their eyes, almost as if they believed that their combined presence was enough to make Malakor back down.
And that was something Malakor did not appreciate in the slightest. If they had simply approached him and explained the situation respectfully, he might have considered their words. After all, he was fully aware of the terrible consequences that could follow if Seventh Order cultivators began attacking ordinary soldiers.
But the moment they decided to threaten him, the situation changed completely. What made matters even worse was that the person they were trying to protect had attempted to capture two women who were extremely important to his grandson.
To Malakor, this was no longer simply a matter of deciding whether to kill an enemy Sixth Order cultivator. This had become a matter involving his family, and when it came to protecting his family, he had never been someone who cared much about rules or consequences.
He had already made himself perfectly clear. If the three Seventh Order cultivators wanted to start killing soldiers from the Anti-Emperor Faction, then they were free to try. However, they should not expect him or the other powerful cultivators on his side to remain silent afterwards.
Whatever damage they caused, Malakor would make sure that the Emperor Faction suffered just as much, if not more.
Meanwhile, the three Seventh Order cultivators remained silent after hearing his response. They had clearly not expected Malakor to react in such a manner. They had believed that threatening to attack the Anti-Emperor Faction’s soldiers would be enough to make him reconsider his decision.
However, judging from the cold expression on Malakor’s face, it was clear that their threat had achieved the exact opposite result.
Malakor slowly lowered his gaze toward the Puppet Master, who was still lying helplessly inside the crater. The injured man had heard every word of their conversation, and the small amount of hope that had appeared in his eyes earlier had completely disappeared.
The Puppet Master finally understood that the two women he had been trying to capture were not simply powerful Sixth Order cultivators with rare bloodlines. They were also women whom Malakor Harrington considered part of his own family.
And judging from the old man’s expression, he had absolutely no intention of forgiving someone who had dared to threaten them.
However, Malakor Harrington had no intention of changing his decision simply because three Seventh Order cultivators had threatened him. After looking at them for a few seconds, he turned his attention back toward the Puppet Master, who was still lying helplessly inside the crater. Without saying another word, Malakor suddenly reached forward and grabbed the injured man by his throat.
The Puppet Master’s eyes immediately widened in horror as he felt Malakor’s fingers tightening around his neck. He desperately tried to struggle, but his body was still too weak from the injuries he had suffered earlier. Even though the Sixth Order healing potion was slowly repairing his broken bones, it had not restored enough of his strength to resist someone as powerful as Malakor.
Malakor easily lifted the Puppet Master off the ground with one hand. The man’s feet left the ground, and his hands instinctively grabbed Malakor’s wrist as he desperately tried to loosen the grip around his throat. However, no matter how much he struggled, Malakor’s hand did not move even slightly.
Seeing that Malakor was actually preparing to kill the Puppet Master despite their warning, the expressions of the three Seventh Order cultivators immediately changed. They had expected him to reconsider his decision after hearing what they were capable of doing to the Anti-Emperor Faction’s soldiers. However, it seemed that Malakor had completely ignored their threat.
Just as Malakor was about to tighten his grip and crush the Puppet Master’s throat, one of the three Seventh Order cultivators suddenly disappeared from his position in the sky.
In the next instant, the man appeared directly in front of Malakor and grabbed the wrist of the hand that was holding the Puppet Master by his throat. His movements were extremely fast, but Malakor did not appear surprised by his sudden arrival. Instead, he slowly lowered his gaze toward the hand gripping his wrist before looking up at the man standing before him.
"Malakor Harrington, I suggest you stop now. Otherwise, things won’t end nicely for you." The Seventh Order cultivator replied in an arrogant tone while tightening his grip around Malakor’s wrist.
There was a clear warning in his voice, and the expression on his face showed that he was becoming increasingly impatient with Malakor’s refusal to cooperate.
From the man’s perspective, Malakor was simply being unreasonable. He believed that the old man was allowing his personal feelings to interfere with a decision that could affect the lives of hundreds of thousands of soldiers. Although he understood that the Puppet Master had attempted to capture two women who were important to Malakor’s family, he did not believe that this was enough of a reason to risk breaking the silent agreement between the Seventh Order cultivators.
Furthermore, the man was convinced that Malakor had no choice but to back down.
After all, there were three Seventh Order cultivators from the Emperor Faction present, while Malakor was standing alone. Even if Malakor was stronger than any one of them individually, he would still have to deal with all three if a fight broke out.
And if they decided to separate and attack different parts of the battlefield, there was no way Malakor could personally stop all three of them at the same time. The man believed that Malakor understood this perfectly well. In his opinion, the old man was simply acting stubborn because he did not want to lose face in front of his enemies.
He was certain that once Malakor realized they were serious about their threat, he would eventually release the Puppet Master. After all, regardless of how much it might hurt Malakor’s pride, the man believed that the old cultivator would have no choice but to put the interests of the Anti-Emperor Faction above his personal anger.
However, there was one thing that the Seventh Order cultivator had completely misunderstood.
Malakor Harrington had never been someone who could be forced into submission simply by threatening him.
And more importantly, the man had made the mistake of believing that Malakor’s earlier warning had been nothing more than empty words.
For several seconds, Malakor remained completely silent. He did not release the Puppet Master, nor did he make any attempt to remove the hand gripping his wrist. Instead, he simply stared at the Seventh Order cultivator standing before him.
The atmosphere inside the crater became increasingly tense as neither man showed any intention of backing down.
Meanwhile, the Puppet Master was still struggling to breathe. His face had already begun turning red from the pressure around his throat, and his movements were gradually becoming weaker. Although the Seventh Order cultivator had grabbed Malakor’s wrist, he had not actually forced the old man to release his victim.
The Puppet Master desperately looked toward the cultivator who had come to save him, hoping that the man would do something before it was too late.
But Malakor’s attention was no longer on the Puppet Master. His cold eyes were now fixed entirely on the Seventh Order cultivator who had dared to grab his wrist.
